Job Title: Recovery Worker

Location: Based within Croydon. Please be kindly aware there is no step-free access at this location or at some of our other sites. The building is approximately a 10 minute walk from East Croydon Station.

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 12 month fixed term contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. You may be required to work bank holidays and outside these hours in line with the needs of the service and residents.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Recovery Worker to join our Croydon team, a 24/7, 27 bed residential service providing support to people with forensic mental health needs, complex needs, and dual diagnosis. You’ll provide person centred support to help residents overcome challenges and achieve their goals through tailored support plans, activities and partnership working. The service offers psychologically informed housing and resettlement support as part of our wider forensic mental health step down services.

As a Recovery Worker, you will contribute to successfully rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents and participants back into the community. Providing pathways, support and appropriate interventions that will enable successful resettlements and work with internal and external partners and agencies to achieve desired outcomes. You’ll play a vital role in residents’ rehabilitation and reintegration, ensuring the service runs smoothly through welfare checks, resident support, administrative tasks, and clear handovers with day staff and managers.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Support residents who may be facing challenges with forensic mental health with additional needs
• Create tailored support plans through one to one sessions, group sessions, and multi agency meetings
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times
• Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for night colleagues for a seamless service
• Support residents with taking their correct medication as required
• Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
• Maintain accurate and up to date risk assessments for each resident, ensuring risks are reviewed regularly and adjustments are made promptly as their needs change
• Deliver weekly keywork sessions with allocated residents, directly supporting their recovery by setting SMART goals and monitoring progress to help them move forward confidently and safely

About You

We're looking for someone who has a genuine passion for supporting people who may have complex needs which includes forensic mental health. You will be able to build professional and trusting rapport with others, and work towards achieving positive outcomes, using a flexible and adaptable approach that recognises each individual’s unique and varied support needs. You will be motivated to help people overcome personal barriers and make a real difference to their lives, finding fulfilment in a role driven by a genuine commitment to supporting others. You will be able to remain calm, flexible, and positive when responding to challenging situations, and be motivated to support people to build resilience and independence. Experience in mental health or support work is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

• Experience working with people with forensic mental health and complex needs, ideally in mental health and residential setting
• Experience working with people with complex backgrounds, including ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, or challenging behaviour and an understanding of housing and social needs
• Ability to engage with people from different backgrounds, build rapport, and empower them to achieve their personal goals
• Ability to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience
• Ability and willingness to show flexibility of working patterns, responding to the needs of the service and residents
• Cultural awareness, Self awareness, and ability to identify personal growth areas and take feedback
• Ability to promote the service and provide outreach based provision, with an ability to liaise and work effectively in partnership with stakeholders

At the heart of Camden’s mission to end rough sleeping, the Gray's Inn Road project offers short-stay accommodation for 16 individuals experiencing some of the most challenging periods in their lives. Funded by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Greater London Authority, and delivered in partnership with One Housing Group and Camden Council, this service plays a pivotal role in ensuring rough sleeping in Camden is not only rare but brief and not repeated. Residents typically stay between three to six months, during which time the focus is on creating pathways into safe, sustainable housing and renewed independence.

You’ll be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, psychologically informed support. You’ll work closely with clients facing overlapping challenges including homelessness, poor physical and mental health, substance use, trauma and histories with the criminal justice system. With your own caseload, you’ll conduct in-depth assessments, build tailored support plans and facilitate interventions that reflect the needs, strengths and aspirations of each person. Requirements

To be successful, you will need:

• A qualified solicitor (English law) with significate post-qualification experience.
• A combination of commercial and contract law and practice experience. Legal experience gained in–house and private practice environment, including in international organisations, the charity sector experience is preferred but not essential.
• Proactive approach to identifying legal risks and providing pragmatic and balanced solutions, manage expectations; maintain confidentiality at all times and display high ethical standards.
• Ability to build credibility quickly and communicate effectively across different cultures and business needs with good written communication skills, able to convey information clearly and accurately.

About the role 

This role leads the day-to-day operational management and development of WGN’s Clinical Services, ensuring the delivery of innovative, safe, high-quality, survivor-centred, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support for survivors of violence against women and girls (VAWG). You will provide clinical and operational leadership across counselling services, supporting therapists and practitioners to manage clinical risk and safeguarding concerns effectively, within a Black feminist, intersectional and Holistic Empowerment Recovery (HER) framework.

This role is offered on a part-time basis (28 hours per week worked over 4 days).

Job description 

As the Clinical Manager, you will:

• Provide operational and clinical leadership across counselling services, overseeing therapeutic pathways, referrals, assessments, allocations, safeguarding and risk management, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support.

• Support therapists, High Intensity Therapists (HITs) and honorary counsellors through clinical guidance, recruitment, induction, reflective practice, wellbeing initiatives and ongoing professional development, embedding anti-oppressive, intersectional and survivor-centred practice.

• Lead on safeguarding and multi-agency working, supporting practitioners to respond effectively to risk, maintain safe practice and ensure consistent documentation and ethical information sharing.

• Oversee clinical governance and quality assurance, ensuring adherence to professional standards, robust data protection and confidentiality practices, and the development of clinical protocols and guidance.

• Support monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting, ensuring effective data collection and survivor involvement to inform ongoing service improvement and co-production.

You will lead the RSB’s strategic communications, branding and stakeholder engagement activities, in order to advance its mission, grow its influence with key audiences, enhance its resonance with members and potential members, and strengthen its reputation. As Head of Communications, you will also champion consistent, impactful communication across digital and social media and the press, fostering trust among stakeholders and shaping and delivering compelling narratives about the biosciences and the RSB's work.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience in leading a communications function in the charity, research or science sector.
• Strong experience in media relations, including managing press enquiries and securing high-impact coverage.
• Experience in overseeing digital communications, marketing, branding and content production.
• The ability to translate complex scientific or technical information for non-specialist audiences (Education,  qualifications or experience in the biosciences or related subjects would be an asset)
• Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.

About the role:

As an IDVA you will:-

• Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met by supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
• Provide a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
• Promote the service and raising awareness of issues arising, minimising barriers and improving access to support

You will need:

• Experience of providing support those affected by domestic abuse
• An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• A good understanding of Housing Law to be able to provide up to date advice and information on housing related needs
• Strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
• An understanding of commitment to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

The Programmes Coordinator plays a central role in delivering our community-based services. You will coordinate and support the delivery of programmes, peer-support groups, drop-ins, and activities, while managing referrals and supporting accessible, person-centred service delivery.

ALAG is a user-led, pan-London membership charity supporting autistic adults without a learning disability. The Autism Hub sits under ALAG and provides advocacy, peer support, counselling, advice, activities, and training—connecting people to services that improve wellbeing and quality of life.

Salary: £29,000 – £32,000 per annum
