About the role 

The Policy and Research Trainee post is a broad-ranging development role that will support the post-holder to gain knowledge and experience of various aspects of policy and research within a specialist health and care policy team.

You will contribute to projects across a wide range of issues relating to health and social care policy and practice (see our website for some examples of our recent projects). You will gain experience in creating a range of outputs for different audiences, publishing and presenting research findings in an accessible way. Training will be available both internally and externally to develop not only relevant research skills but also wider aspects such as writing and giving presentations.

You will not have previously worked in research or policy, but you’ll be enthusiastic about gaining the new skills and experience needed to start a career in policy or research. We are particularly interested to hear from people who see this opportunity as unique and critical to their career development.

About the role

We’re looking for an Economics and Research Analyst to join the Work Action Area team. The mission of this team is to ensure equitable access to work and a good transition to later life. This role will play a key part in ensuring the policy influencing work of the team is supported by strong analysis and evidence.

They will work to understand what changes we need, and to influencing those in power to make those changes. About you

You are a strong quantitative and economics researcher, with a keen interest in and understanding of policy and the labour market. You are able to absorb complex research and policy information quickly and synthesise it into clear and concise summaries for a range of audiences.  You have strong research skills including understanding of Stata or R, experience of conducting literature reviews and delivering descriptive analyses of data.

You will enjoy working independently but be confident working as part of a busy policy and research team, juggling competing priorities and working to tight deadlines. You will have a knowledge of the key policy issues related to an ageing population or a willingness to become a specialist in this area.

What the job involves

As our Senior People Services Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day heartbeat of People Services and make sure every colleague has a smooth, supportive and high-quality experience throughout their time with us.

You’ll be the person who keeps things running brilliantly: setting the pace for operational delivery, supporting managers with confidence, and making sure our processes are simple, clear and compliant – ensuring delivery through an experienced and high-performing People Services Team. CHEM Trust is looking for a highly organised and proactive Operations and Governance Officer to support the smooth and effective running of the organisation. Development and Alumni Relations Office

The Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) exists to support this academic and student community by engaging, inspiring, and celebrating alumni, individuals, and charitable funders who give their money, time, and networks to support the University’s strategic priorities. The Office, which comprises over 50 staff across four teams, is focused on fundraising and volunteering from alumni and individuals who are passionate about changing lives, through funding various research initiatives, supporting student scholarships, mentoring students, and providing internships. The recent launch of the hugely ambitious Birmingham In Action campaign frames these efforts, as we seek to secure one million volunteering hours from our students, staff and alumni and raise £400 million in support of institutional priorities.

As Community Connector you will play a vital role in fostering meaningful relationships between Raw Material and its diverse local communities, and stakeholders across the education, arts, youth work, community, and social and healthcare sectors. 

Working as part of the Programmes Team (and closely with other Raw Material staff) you will develop, coordinate and participate in the delivery of Raw Material’s CEP, building awareness of the charity’s creative and wellbeing programmes, facilities and broader services (e.g. workspaces).

You will develop creative ideas, partnership opportunities and produce and organise activities, events and initiatives that amplify Raw Material’s mission, and boost our reach, increase participation and engagement in our services, and enhance the accessibility, relevance and impact of our work, particularly amongst marginalised communities.

You will champion the use of music and creativity as tools to support wellbeing, personal development and social inclusion; communicate the benefits and value of Raw Material’s programmes and services; and create inclusive pathways for underrepresented and marginalised communities with lived experience to access Raw Material opportunities.

As a Community Facilitator, you will work closely with Lewisham’s Integrated Neighbourhood Teams to support residents over an 8–12 week period. You’ll build trusting relationships, co‑create personalised wellbeing plans, set achievable goals, and help people access local groups, activities and services that boost independence, resilience and wellbeing.

You’ll be the friendly, motivating, non‑judgemental person who walks alongside residents as they make positive changes, empowering them to take the lead in their own journey.

In response to the growing mental and emotional health needs of children and young people, TLG is exploring two major initiatives: Therapeutic Hubs in churches and schools, and a UK‑wide Coaching Network that equips ministry leaders to work therapeutically with children. Together, these initiatives strengthen the local church’s ability to connect with children and families and extend the reach of compassionate, evidence‑informed support. ​

To make this possible, efficiencies and innovation must be at the forefront of how we work - streamlining processes, embedding digital solutions, and leveraging technology to unlock capacity and accelerate change. ​

This Role’s Impact:

As CRM and Systems Lead, you’ll be responsible for the design, development and ownership of TLG’s Power Platform solutions, with a focus on Dynamics 365 configuration, Power BI reporting, and Power Automate workflows. This role bridges user needs with technical delivery, ensuring digital tools are intuitive, scalable, and aligned with organisational goals. You will lead the development of user-centred digital solutions and play a key role in shaping TLG’s data strategy and digital transformation, enabling TLG to scale innovation across programmes and giving our teams the tools to move fast with confidence.

Examples of teams your role could sit within include Fundraising & Supporter Engagement, Marketing, Communications & Advocacy, Programmes, Executive Support & Operations, Digital/IT.
