The Role

This is a new and exciting role for Hospice UK. As Content and Brand Manager you will play a key role bringing Hospice UK’s strategic priorities to life, delivering high-quality content that meets our audiences’ needs, drives engagement and tells a compelling story about our brand. 

You will lead and drive an ambitious new content strategy for the organisation that brings coherence and dynamism to our communications, ensures clear and consistent messaging across our channels and seizes opportunities to be creative, adaptable and at the heart of sector debates. This will also include overseeing the performance and growth of our social media channels and presence.

Your work with also grow, promote and protect our brand, ensuring a strong visual identity, clear voice, and diverse and human-led content that reflects Hospice UK’s values. 

The Team

You will work within the Communications team that sits within the wider External Affairs Directorate. We are around 20 in total, including 4 colleagues based in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

The Communications team includes colleagues working across content, social and digital, as well as partnership marketing and member communications.

You will work closely with a smaller team of 3 colleagues, our Senior Social Media Officer, Media and PR Manager and your line manager – our Senior Communications and Communications Manager. Together you will be involved in the big issues in hospice care, making sure Hospice UK is vocal, visible and leading the debate.

There is a strong collaborative and supportive culture across the External Affairs Department with lots of opportunity to exchange ideas, plan together and benefit from each other’s skills and expertise. 

Working closely with our 200+ hospice members, we have a strong track record of securing strong media coverage and winning campaigns on their behalf, most notably over the two years by securing increased investment in hospices by governments in Westminster, Cardiff and Edinburgh. 

But our work is not done. Hospices are under significant pressure and need both better government investment and continued public support. Our focus now is ensuring that hospices can meet ever increasing demand for their services, with well-funded and well-staffed hospices across the UK. 

About You

You're a strategic and creative content professional who understands how powerful storytelling can drive engagement, influence audiences and deliver real impact.

You'll have experience developing and delivering ambitious content strategies, managing brands, and creating compelling content across digital channels. From shaping content pipelines and leading campaigns to overseeing brand identity and using data to optimise performance, you'll know how to turn insight into action.

We're looking for someone who is audience-focused, collaborative and innovative, with a strong understanding of digital trends, emerging technologies including AI, and the tools needed to create and measure high-performing content. Summary of the role:

The Data, Risk and Compliance Officer will coordinate Muslim Aid’s organisational approach to data protection, risk management, compliance and assurance coordination. The role will provide oversight of key registers, trackers, records, reports and action plans, including the corporate risk register, compliance obligations register, policy review schedule, data protection records, information-rights requests, breach records, audit action trackers and assurance follow-up.

The postholder will work directly with the COO, leadership team and functional owners across the organisation to strengthen governance, ensure risks and compliance actions are actively managed, support timely escalation and drive continuous improvement in organisational controls and accountability.

The postholder will own coordination, tracking, records, follow-up and administrative support for these areas, while supporting senior colleagues with design, judgement, quality assurance and insight.

About the Role:

1. Maintain the corporate risk register and ensure risks, controls, actions, owners and deadlines are kept up to date.
2. Gather regular updates from functional owners and support teams to articulate and record risks clearly and consistently.
3. Maintain the compliance obligations register, policy review schedule and evidence of compliance activity.
4. Work with departments to record legal, regulatory, donor, funding agreement, data protection and internal policy requirements.
5. Maintain data protection policies, procedures, templates, records of processing activities (ROPAs), data-flow records and information asset registers.
6. Prepare regular reports, exception reports, committee updates, action summaries and briefing notes on risk, compliance, data protection, audit actions and overdue matters.

About You:

You must currently hold the right to work in the UK. Muslim Aid is not offering sponsorship for this role.

This role operates on a hybrid working basis, with a current requirement to work from the office for two/three days per week, and additional days where required to meet organisational needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. Law degree, equivalent legal qualification or equivalent experience in legal, compliance or regulatory matters.
2. Significant experience in data protection, risk, compliance, governance, assurance or a related area, including responsibility for improving organisational processes and controls.
3. Experience managing risk registers, compliance trackers, policy schedules, action logs and organisational records, with responsibility for quality, timeliness and escalation.
4. Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands, oversee several trackers, manage deadlines and deliver high-quality reports.
5. Ability to influence and follow up actions firmly and professionally, make sound judgements, identify issues requiring escalation and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Through traditional, digital and social media, they amplify the voices of children, families, communities and local partners, highlighting the impacts of conflict, inequality and child poverty. They support advocacy for change in policy, practice and systems, promote international cooperation, and help grow public engagement and funding—driving action to protect every child's right to experience a safe, healthy and happy childhood.

About the role

As the Media and Communications Executive you will support advocacy, public engagement and fundraising by helping to secure media coverage, amplify the voices of children and families, and share stories from across Global and UK Impact with UK audiences.

You will provide day-to-day support to the Global and UK Impact Communications teams, helping deliver timely and engaging communications that raise awareness and inspire action for children. The role also offers flexible support across different projects and priorities as needed.

In this role, you will:

• Support the development and adaptation of press materials, case studies and messaging that are clear, accurate and aligned with brand and safeguarding standards.
• Help ensure the smooth and effective running of the Global Impact and UK Impact Communications functions through team support including media list management, invoicing, liaison with media monitoring service, information and web content management, administration and other tasks as needed.
• Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to support on the delivery of integrated campaigns across UK and global issues 
• Help identify and respond quickly to reactive opportunities, supporting the team to deliver timely communications.
• Support the delivery of press releases, statements, briefing materials and Q&As.
• Support media monitoring and tracking of coverage, helping to assess reach, tone and impact, and contributes to clear, well-structured presentations and updates to report on performance and insights. 
• Contribute to communications activity linked to Save the Children UK corporate partnerships when needed, supporting the development and delivery of content and opportunities that align with Public Impact priorities and help maximise reach and impact. 
• Support the development of briefing materials for leaders including the CEO to support them in public communications.
• Support story gathering, research and messaging to develop impactful UK and Global media and communications materials
• Work collaboratively with creative, digital, social and influencer teams to deliver joined-up campaigns 

About you

To be successful, you will bring:

• Some experience in media, journalism or communications (e.g. agency, in-house or newsroom)
