Citizens UK
Citizens UK is the UK’s biggest, most diverse and most effective people-powered alliance. We bring communities and local organisations together to work on issues that matter; from campaigning for zebra crossings on dangerous roads, to reforming the immigration system, to the Living Wage campaign. We have a track record of winning change through hundreds of local and national campaigns. We know everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. We believe that through developing local leaders, we can drive nationwide change and create community-led solutions to big and small problems.
Living Wage Foundation
The Living Wage movement began in 2001, after Citizens UK brought together communities in East London to discuss poverty and low pay. The campaign grew in momentum and soon required a mechanism to recognise employers who wanted to join the movement, which saw the establishment of the Living Wage Foundation in 2011.
Still part of Citizens UK today, the Living Wage Foundation (LWF) continues to work with community organisations to make sure the voices of both workers and businesses are part of the Living Wage movement. We now work with over 16,000 employers, benefitting over 490,000 people and winning over £4bn of better wages for people who need it most.
Citizens UK works with a broad base of institutions across the political spectrum. At the Living Wage Foundation, we take the same deliberately broad-based approach and accredit all organisations who pay the real Living Wage to their directly and indirectly employed staff and are committed to tackling in work poverty. As a team we work across a range of industries and sectors to achieve this mission. We seek pragmatic coalitions in order to progress specific campaigns, and partnership around a particular issue such as Living Wage, does not imply an endorsement of broader purpose and policies.
Purpose
At Citizens UK (CUK), our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. This work is rewarding and can be challenging; it requires a personal commitment to inclusion, a willingness to listen and disagree respectfully, and an interest in working in an organisation where our staff, member institutions and leaders will come from a diversity of backgrounds and often hold views that may be very different from our own. More information about how we operate within this context and build trusted relationships across difference can be found on our website and is covered in induction. Onboarding and navigating this relational culture, and type of work, is supported by line managers and further training.

The Vacancy
This is a newly-created role in the Methodist Church’s Connexional (national) staff team, managing the Church’s unique collection of c.60 post-war religious artworks, which includes pieces by Sutherland, Frink, Burra, Souza and Muafangejo: The Methodist Modern Art Collection - The Methodist Church
Working with the Collection’s expert volunteer Management Committee, you will be responsible for facilitating the conservation and touring programmes, including supporting local churches with exhibition planning, logistics, venue and condition checking, and for making related funding bids. You will have the opportunity to enhance the interpretation of the Collection and to develop creative new uses of the artworks.
The Methodist Church is actively seeking a partner organisation with whom to establish a permanent new home base for the Collection. It is expected that part of your role will be to support relocating the artworks and helping to establish new ways of working as a result.
About You
We are seeking an experienced and innovative, fine art curator. You will be as comfortable supporting volunteers to stage exhibitions around Britain, as working with art gallery professionals, conservators and technicians. You will understand the potential for visual art to communicate the spiritual, and be able to demonstrate how to engage audiences in reflection and encourage conversation about God and Christian faith inspired by art.
This role has an occupational requirement to be a practicing Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
If you meet most of the requirements, we encourage you to apply; transferable skills and experience will also be taken into consideration.
We are also open to considering remote/homeworking arrangements (salary may vary accordingly).

Key Dates
Closing Date for Applications: 27 September 2026
Interviews (on-site in London): 9 October 2026
Please note: We reserve the right to close this advert early if sufficient applications are received.
The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.
No two weeks in this role look the same. One day you might be drafting a letter to persuade a government minister to champion prevention; the next, building the funder case for a piece of research that hasn’t been written yet, or turning a dense set of findings into a chart a journalist can’t ignore.
ILC’s Head of Storytelling and Impact will make sure our evidence reaches, and moves, the people who can act on it – policymakers, politicians, business leaders, journalists and the public. This role turns ILC’s research into stories and turns those stories into funding and impact.
Every role at ILC, this one especially, involves relationships with funders and commercial partners. We’re a charity that operates like a commercial organisation – this role has to make the case for our value, not just communicate our findings.
You’ll also, sometimes, be putting our evidence in front of people who would rather not hear it – industries with a vested interest, politicians with other priorities, or audiences who assume ageing isn’t their problem. Part of the job is being comfortable with that, and persuasive anyway.
We want someone who thinks like a publisher and a marketer as much as a press officer – curious about formats, protective of ILC’s funding, and unafraid to pick up the phone to a politician.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.
