Rays of Sunshine, recognised in The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2026, is looking for an experienced and proactive Executive Assistant to the CEO to join our small, ambitious and collaborative team.
This is a varied part-time role at the heart of the organisation, working closely with the CEO to provide high-quality executive support and help coordinate governance, projects, organisational priorities and key operational activity.
You will be joining Rays of Sunshine at an exciting point in our development, with a clear focus on strengthening how we work, delivering our ambitions well and continuing to grow our impact for seriously ill children and their families.
This is much more than a traditional diary-management role. You will work closely with the CEO across a broad range of priorities, helping to create structure, maintain momentum and ensure important actions are followed through. The role will involve coordinating meetings, briefings and actions; supporting Committee and governance processes; helping to keep key organisational projects on track; and providing practical support across operational activity.
You will also play an important role in the wider rhythm of the organisation, helping to coordinate team meetings, collaborative sessions, away days, staff engagement activity and actions arising from staff feedback.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, calm under pressure and confident working independently. You will need excellent judgement and absolute discretion, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. About the role
Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary.You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the East of England region, which includes Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk. There will be occasional travel around the East of England Region, and you may be required to travel at short notice for face-to-face meetings.
About the team
The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteer caseworkers in the East of England, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The wider support team includes a Regional Casework Manager and a Regional Manager.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare support in key areas such as disability, benefits, mobility, mental health support or local authority provision. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the East of England would be valuable.

Working Arrangements

About RMC
RMC Charity (RMC) is an established, award winning, regional charity working across the West Midlands to support newcomers and people facing barriers to accessing services, rights and opportunities.
RMC is a growing and ambitious organisation. As we continue to develop our services, partnerships and organisational infrastructure, we are strengthening the support available to our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Trustee Board.

The Senior Executive Assistant will play an important role in supporting the SLT through this period, including helping to coordinate meetings, information, actions and communications involving external parties. We are seeking an experienced and proactive Executive Support Team Lead to lead the evolution of our newly centralised Business Support function. Leading a small but impactful team, you will drive service excellence, strengthen governance and controls, and deliver efficient, customer-focused support to colleagues across the organisation. About the Role
As a Executive Support Team Lead at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will:
Lead, coach and develop the Business Support Coordinator and Invoicing & Billing Analyst, overseeing workload planning, performance management, recruitment, onboarding and ensuring effective service coverage across the organisation.
Act as a senior subject matter expert for the Foundation's core business systems (including SAP, Ariba and Convera), overseeing training, licensing, user support and escalation management while maintaining appropriate team resilience and back-up coverage.
Oversee invoicing, billing, payment processing, sales order administration, vendor onboarding and procurement compliance, ensuring accuracy, strong financial controls and adherence to organisational policies.
Manage organisational subscriptions, approved travel provider relationships, purchasing support and the resolution of financial administration queries, including expense investigations and budget coding issues.
Lead the continuous improvement of business support processes, systems and documentation, driving greater efficiency, consistency, automation and service excellence across the Foundation.
Develop and deliver guidance, training and performance reporting for business support services, identifying opportunities for further centralisation and supporting wider Operations objectives.
Oversee delivery of core administrative services, including executive diary management, travel and event coordination, onboarding and offboarding administration, facilities support, shared inbox management, organisational records and contingent worker administration.
Provide hands-on support for complex travel arrangements, staff induction activities, organisational website updates and logistics for Foundation-wide events, ensuring a seamless experience for colleagues and stakeholders.
About You
To be a Executive Support Team Lead at the Thomson Reuters Foundation, you will likely have:
Proven experience in business operations, office management, business support or financial administration, including responsibility for leading and developing teams.
Strong understanding of invoicing, procurement and financial administration processes, with a track record of ensuring accuracy, compliance and effective controls.
Experience using ERP and financial management systems, such as SAP, alongside invoicing and payment platforms (e.g. Convera); familiarity with system administration and user support is advantageous.
Previous experience within a charity, NGO or purpose-led organisation would be beneficial.
Demonstrated people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.
Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, balance competing demands and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

The role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead APF's communications, marketing and engagement function. You will turn organisational priorities into an integrated plan, set clear standards and measures, advise senior leaders and ensure that marketing, media, content, digital and internal communications work together.
You will lead three managers: the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, the Press, PR and Stories Manager, and the Communications Operations and Engagement Manager. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will report to the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager. This structure gives you the scope to shape the whole function while delegating specialist delivery clearly.
Your early work will include establishing the team operating model and annual plan, moving PF Together to quarterly publication, strengthening email marketing, leading a complete website content rewrite, creating clearer supporter journeys and building a proactive media and story pipeline.
