The Nightingale Navigator supports the loved ones of male survivors through the Nightingale Project. Recognising that sexual harm can affect partners, family members and others close to a survivor, the role provides therapeutic group and community-based support, alongside psychoeducation about trauma and its wider impact. This includes helping loved ones understand the criminal justice process and working with health, social care and other partner agencies to ensure they receive coordinated support. The Navigator also brings the experiences, needs and wishes of loved ones into the continued development of the Nightingale Project.

Purpose of the job:

This post will form part of Thames21’s Catchment Partnership team. The successful candidate will co-host the Roding, Beam and Ingrebourne (RBI) Catchment Partnership, alongside Thames Chase Trust, and will be responsible for the partnership’s strategic development and expansion, working towards the successful delivery of the Catchment Based Approach (CaBA) to improve the rivers and wider environment in this catchment.

The RBI Catchment Partnership covers an area of approximately 500km2, including the rural areas of Uttlesford, Brentwood, Epping Forest and Thurrock before reaching the urban stretches of Redbridge, Havering, Barking and Dagenham in north-east London where it borders the tidal Thames.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The officer will be expected to deliver across four priority areas:

1.Develop diverse, representative, collaborative and delivery focused partnerships

The successful candidate will need to work autonomously and proactively to seek out and positively engage strategic stakeholders within the RBI catchment area, building the influence and capacity of the Catchment Partnership network to deliver improvements for rivers and local communities. These stakeholders will include (but are not limited to) community groups, landowners, eNGOs, local authorities, government agencies and water companies.

2.Work with partnership networks to identify, develop and fundraise for river catchment improvement projects

Working alongside external partners and Thames21 colleagues, the Catchment Partnership Officer will need to draw on their knowledge of what makes a river catchment healthy to develop ambitious and impactful catchment improvement projects that meet the targets of Thames21’s 5-year plan and the RBI’s Catchment Action Plan. Once identified, the successful candidate will be required to work with relevant Thames21 teams and external partners to successfully fundraise for the development and delivery of these projects.

3.Bring together identified projects into detailed, deliverable catchment and sub-catchment action plans, and monitor progress against these.

The catchment partnership officer will be responsible for developing deliverable catchment and sub-catchment action plans that draw together projects identified across the catchment/sub-catchment area with landowner and stakeholder support. These plans should make the priority projects for delivery clear to external readers and catchment partners, enabling a strategic approach to project delivery in the catchment.

4.Break down silos by sharing information and bringing people together; in a way that is catchment wide, cross boundary and across multiple organisations.

The catchment partnership officer will be expected to share knowledge, news, funding opportunities and project progress between stakeholders through meetings, site visits, email newsletters and quarterly meetings of the whole Catchment Partnership (which the Officer will have the responsibility of arranging, coordinating and chairing, including the production of agendas, minutes and actions). The catchment partnership officer will be expected to communicate the work of their catchment partnership networks externally at relevant forums, including the River Partnerships in London (RiPL) Group, Thames Catchment Forum and strategic community events.

Other Duties

Where necessary, the catchment partnership officer may be required to support and lead on the delivery of river improvement projects, managing project deadlines and budgets. Moreover, this job description cannot cover every issue or task that may arise within Thames21; at various times the post-holder will be directed to carry out other reasonable duties in support of other Thames21 activities that are consistent with those in this Job Description.

As a Social Investment Manager, you will work on the outcomes contracts activity in both the UK and other high-income countries. You will develop new projects and partnerships along with ongoing management of the existing portfolio.

> Initiate and execute the development of outcomes partnerships opportunities: Identifying and engaging with challenges faced by central and local government and delivery partners to develop impactful delivery models which tackle those challenges.

> Lead on the implementation of a full project lifecycle of an outcomes-based project and a portfolio of outcomes partnerships, including tasks such as leading on initial assessment and investment processes in project development, developing outcome contract models, leading operational and financial analysis, managing complete legal negotiations and documentation processes.

> Innovating in our delivery: Proactively engaging with key stakeholders to develop and implement delivery innovations while considering any key assumptions around operations, impact, and finance; supporting teams to solve problems using first principles. This includes working with delivery partners to help create the best possible impact in sustainable ways, by identifying issues and opportunities, initiating projects, and developing delivery innovations.

> Creating and maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships: Engage in strong rapport-building with commissioners, outcome funders, and delivery partner teams; identify best delivery team structure for our internal operational teams; and contribute to social investor meetings to present project and market development activities.

Suitable candidates will have:

> 7+ years of experience working in social investment, financial and senior operational roles within the VCSE sector, management consulting, public sector delivery, or similar sectors.

> Excellent financial and modelling skills, with extensive experience in supporting the development of comprehensive business/financial plans.

> Strong delivery and investment, advisory and/or operational track record.

> Higher degree level education or equivalent experience.

> Exceptional interpersonal skills, adept at working with multiple stakeholders.

> Experience supporting the development of comprehensive value creation strategies.

> Strong strategic, commercial and entrepreneurial judgement.

> Experience of working with government partners to develop social change projects is desirable.

> Experience of the social sector is desirable.

> Experience of impact investing is desirable.

> Experience working on projects tackling developmental challenges, preferably in areas like education, health and employment is desirable.

> Dutch language skills are desirable (as this role is anticipated to work on an outcomes partnerships in the Netherlands).

Role details

Location: Home working in (or close to) London, Midlands or Manchester

Working patterns: 1 FTE (35 hours per week) with typical working times between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The role includes weekly travel with early starts and late returns, and approx. 6 overnight stays a year.

About the role

This role will be primarily focusing on our Climate Action Fund programme – Student Energy Action for Life (SEAL), with opportunity to contribute towards our wider engagement programmes. SEAL has a twofold vision; to support students navigating the home energy system and to improve access to student energy efficient properties via landlord engagement and student campaigning. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Engage, maintain and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders particularly landlords and students' unions, as well as students, volunteers, universities, local authorities, and other key organisations. 
• Support landlords, student letting agencies and students’ unions to improve the energy efficiency of student accommodation, focusing on implementing energy efficiency initiatives, advice and support.
• Plan, design, and deliver engaging training sessions to a variety of audiences.
• Provide support for students’ union officers and other student campaigners working on housing energy efficiency campaigns, including the design and implementation of a national student home energy campaign.
• Support with the creation and management of sector wide student energy efficiency advisory groups including a home energy efficiency network, student advisory group and stakeholder advisory group.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of programme resources and communications, including social media and website updates. 
• Recruit, coordinate, and support student volunteers including line management of student staff when required.

• Meet client need and work within this personalised approach
• Work with clients in the community, within their home, as well as in one of our Wellbeing Centres

The successful candidate will have need a personal understanding (lived experience) of mental health needs, or cared for someone who did, a great understanding and proven skills of delivering mental health services, proven skills around working with adults with mental health needs and significant proven knowledge of models and services to meet the needs of adults with mental health needs.
