Health & Wellbeing Lead - Love Barton
Are you a Christian leader passionate about supporting adults to thrive in the face of challenging circumstances?
At Love Barton, our mission is simple: to see people and families in Barton flourish, whatever their circumstances. Together, we're working towards fewer people facing food insecurity and poor mental health, young people with the self-esteem to make good decisions, and parents and carers with the confidence to see their children thrive.
What we do - and why it's great to work here
Barton is a council estate on the outskirts of Oxford with a tough reputation, but we see something different: a community brimming with talent, kindness and resilience. As a Christian charity established in 2022, we work in close partnership with Barton Community Church to tackle the deep-rooted obstacles - poverty, family breakdown, poor mental health, low self-esteem - that stop people here reaching their potential.
We already run a listening service, a twice-weekly emergency foodbank, and a family food pantry, supporting hundreds of adults and children each year. We're a small, close-knit team, and every person who joins us gets to see the direct impact of their work on real lives in the community.
The role and its impact
As Health & Wellbeing Lead, you'll head up an exciting set of projects on the Barton estate - leading volunteers and managing programmes that meet the health and wellbeing needs of the local community. You'll manage and grow our existing services, and work with the Charity Director to spot new opportunities and support fundraising.
Key details
- Position: Health & Wellbeing Lead
- Reporting to: Charity Director
- Location: Barton, Headington, Oxford (OX3)
- Hours: 18 hours a week (2.5 days, ideally Monday–Wednesday)
- Salary: £28,000 pro rata
- Contract: One-year fixed term, with potential to extend
- Start date: September 2026 (a later date may be agreed for the right person)
- Closing date: Wednesday 12th August, 12pm
- Interviews: Week commencing 17th August
What you'll be working on
- Hear4You listening service — recruit, train and support volunteer listeners, and develop the referral system (from GP and self-referrals) so more people can be supported. You'll also help grow our new Hear4You creative coffee morning for adults facing loneliness, family challenges or poor mental health.
- Emergency Foodbank — recruit, train and support the volunteer team running our twice-weekly sessions with Community Emergency Foodbank, ensuring everything runs safely and to Food Hygiene Standards.
- Family Food Pantry — in partnership with Mercy In Action, recruit, train and support volunteers to keep our weekly food pantry running smoothly for local families on low incomes.
- You'll also network with other providers and stakeholders, represent Love Barton at Health & Wellbeing partnership meetings, offer pastoral care and support to those experiencing hardship, help deliver seasonal projects like Christmas hampers and school holiday activities, manage project budgets and reporting, and work with the Charity Director and trustees on funding.
This job is for you if...
- you're a committed Christian, passionate about alleviating poverty and seeing people thrive
- you're a leader who can inspire and motivate others, but you're also a team player
- you're compassionate and empathetic, with a genuine understanding of the needs of a disadvantaged community
- you build authentic relationships easily - with community members, funders and service providers alike
- you communicate well with people of all ages and backgrounds
- you have experience managing people, particularly volunteers
- you have experience in one or more of: mental health support, family support, community work, or pastoral care
- you're organised, self-motivated and manage your time well
- you're committed to your own self-care and ongoing personal development
Essential: there is a genuine occupational requirement for this post to be filled by a practising Christian. You'll also need the right to work in the UK, and the post requires an enhanced DBS check.

Men are dying too young – and it doesn’t have to be that way.
Around the world, men are facing a health crisis: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and suicide. At Movember we’re on a mission to change the face of men’s health by making it easier for men to talk, act and live longer healthier lives.
Every project, every campaign, every idea adds up to real change. You’ll be part of a purpose-fueled crew who believe making an impact and having fun should go hand in hand. Your mission is calling.
DO GOOD. Work for Movember.
Your Mo-Mission (should you choose to accept it):
Movember's UK and Europe public fundraising operation is one of the most ambitious in the global movement. Hundreds of thousands of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas, a full calendar of endurance events, deep community partnerships across education, sport and workplace, and a year-round supporter engagement program that keeps people coming back long after November ends. Leading all of it takes someone exceptional.
As Director of Public Fundraising, UK and Europe, you'll own the strategy and delivery for community fundraising, endurance events, and all public fundraising activity across the region. You'll lead the local implementation of the Movember campaign, drive year-round retention and engagement of the Mo Community, and take an active role in shaping the broader UK and Europe Country Strategy. You'll also play a key part in Movember's European growth ambitions, helping to identify and unlock new markets and opportunities across the region.
People leadership is central to this role. You'll lead a team of 12 or more, building capability, setting clear accountabilities, and creating the kind of environment where people are genuinely empowered to take ownership and deliver with excellence. You'll work closely with the UK Country Director and Global Director of Fundraising, contribute to global campaign squads, and collaborate with counterparts across markets to share what works and maximise collective income.
From setting strategy to stewarding high value supporters, from budget oversight to being a public face of Movember at community events, this is a role with real breadth and real impact.
Based in London, 12-month fixed term parental leave cover. We are open to this role being filled on a full-time or 0.8 part-time basis.

-
At least 15 years of experience in relevant fundraising roles, with deep expertise in public fundraising.

-
Proven success managing fundraising portfolios and consistently meeting income targets.
-
Strong people leadership skills and experience managing large, high-performing teams.
-
A sophisticated understanding of how to use data to maximise fundraising outcomes and supporter lifetime value.
-
Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines without dropping the ball.
-
An excellent relationship manager, with a proven ability to build and sustain lasting relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
-
Confident communicating at all levels, from team members to executive leadership to external partners.
-
Sound knowledge of fundraising law and best practice.
-
A genuine collaborator who brings people with them and leaves teams better than they found them.
GOOD CAUSE:
Working for Movember, you’ll help turn ideas (and moustaches) into millions for men’s health. Every bit we raise changes the face of men’s health by funding research, improving treatments, and supporting programs that help save lives.
We’re even shaping government policies on men’s health worldwide. By meeting directly with lawmakers, and helping them understand how more investment on men’s health benefits not just men, but all the communities they serve.
GOOD VIBES:
We love weekends. That’s why our Fridays finish early for nine months of the year. But we also love our office vibe. Because here, it always feels like something big is about to happen. Be it an office-wide surprise birthday party (with cake!) or an open invite for all to hit the pub.
Come the hairy season, the energy cranks up. We’re talking celebrity visits. Live stunts on-site for TV and radio. And when we hit a fundraising milestone, the office gong might even go off. But, for those who prefer calm, no probs: hybrid working means you work where you feel best.
GOOD CREW:
Spoiler alert: we’re a no-ego, all-impact crew. That means everyone gets a say, from new starters to those leading the charge. Collaboration over hierarchies, curiosity over rigid process. And it’s true across all our offices worldwide. We work as one, sharing expertise and celebrating wins. All in the name of making the biggest impact across the globe. United, we Mo.
We offer:
-
Hybrid/Flexible working – we offer our team a split of home and office working
-
13 weeks paid Parental Leave and 6 weeks annual leave
-
Health Cash Plan – to support the costs of everyday healthcare needs (dental, optical, wellbeing)
-
An Employee Assistance Programme offering face to face counselling, plus legal and financial support
-
A fun stimulating and collaborating culture, with company events
-
Service awards after 3, 5 and 10 year
-
Committees to join – Culture team, Equity Diversity & Inclusion
-
Bike to work scheme
-
Half day Fridays for 9 months of the year
Being different is how we started. And it’s also helped us raise $1 billion for men’s health. So, we know the power of diverse experiences, skills and perspectives.

We value the experiences, skills and perspectives of all individuals and actively encourage applications from people with diverse backgrounds. We make recruitment decisions based on applicants’ skills, experience and knowledge, ensuring all applicants are treated fairly.

If so, we’d love to hear from you.
