Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The Senior Finance Officer is a broad new role reporting to the Head of Finance. It provides a brilliant opportunity to learn and develop through contributing to most areas of our small finance team’s work including month-end close, payment run process, finance system administration, monthly budget-holder reporting, year end and audit, fundraising support and investments and banking administration.
We are looking for a part qualified accountant or equivalent who can bring a good understanding of bookkeeping and double entry. As a role covering broad areas, you will also need a demonstrable understanding of charity accounting technicalities and recommended practice, ideally gained from working in the sector. With a high level of attention to detail, you should be proficient in the use of finance systems, with Advanced Excel skills, and an interest in utilising AI.
The role includes interaction at all levels, including senior management and our trustee board and requires skills to communicate finance to non-finance stakeholders and good written skills.

What you’ll be responsible for
You will play a central role in coordinating delivery across a large, multi-partner programme. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing student communications, including responding to queries and supporting onboarding and participation
- Acting as a key coordination point between students, universities, industry partners and internal teams
- Supporting the planning and delivery of programme activities, including induction events, residentials, webinars, site visits and industry events
- Coordinating logistics such as registrations, attendance tracking, communications and on-the-day delivery support
- Supporting the recruitment and onboarding of ~400 new students, including application coordination and candidate communications
- Managing day-to-day operations such as programme inboxes, records, tracking and follow-ups
- Working across multiple internal stakeholders to keep delivery aligned, on track and moving forward
- Identifying and resolving routine delivery issues, escalating where needed
You will be trusted to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, and take ownership of delivering work to a high standard.

You will have experience of producing high quality, comprehensive information for people with health conditions from concept through to publication and a knack for making complex health information easy to understand. An understanding of and commitment to the criteria of the Patient Information Forum quality kitemark (the PIF TICK) is integral to the role.
This position will involve working on multiple projects concurrently, juggling priorities, being proactive in your approach and creating reactive information to address emerging issues. The Advocacy Academy is an activist youth movement. We serve as the political home for grassroots youth organising and the catalyst for collective action. The lives of the young people we work alongside have been directly shaped by living in an unjust world, and we exist to turn their anger into action.
Young people are often the catalysts for major social change, from the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee at the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, to the Soweto Uprising mobilising young people to resist the apartheid regime's education policies, to the Sunrise Movement redrawing the electoral map across America, and more recently encampments and protests across the world protesting the genocide in Palestine. How successfully they achieve real and lasting change depends on whether they are organised and whether they have the right strategy and tactics to be effective.
We want youth organising to be enshrined in the UK for generations to come, and for young people to have tangible political power to influence national policy. That’s why we have launched two national coalitions, one around climate, and the other around gender. Each will train organisations across the country to become youth organisers, and work together to bring 100 young people together to identify the strategy and tactics needed to achieve change. These young leaders will organise others and work collectively to build a campaign which shakes the status quo.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1.You will be responsible for the Changemaker Development Programme (CMDP) including but limited to:
- Working with the Associate Director of Programmes and Associate Director of Partnerships to coordinate programmes planning and delivery timelines for CMDP.
- Managing cross programmatic projects to standardise processes and practices in the Programmes Department
- Designing and developing the recruitment process for Alumni to join the CMDP and create a targeted recruitment strategy to grow the Alumni Changemaker pool
- Managing the monitoring and evaluation of the programme including quantitative and qualitative data, and facilitate the process of ongoing learning being integrated into the programme
- Working with Programmes Leadership Team to coordinate and deliver a holistic safeguarding, wellbeing and pastoral care strategy across TAA’s work with young people
- Responsible for holding the CMDP budget and ensuring that it is managed and spent in accordance with TAA expenses procedure e.g. signing off expenses up to £1,000 expenditure and escalating to Director of Programmes and Partnerships for amounts exceeding this.
2.You will be accountable for the learning design and delivery to include but not limited:
- Leading the design of the CMDP curriculum to agreed TAA standards engaging key stakeholders, e.g. alumni, programmes team, external partners
- Supporting Alumni Changemakers to design, deliver and facilitate social justice workshops in line with established pedagogical approaches at TAA.
- Leading the development of learning journeys for Alumni Changemakers.
- Working during school holidays for camps, and in the evenings to accommodate school hours, which may include regular evening work and unsocial hours during programme delivery.
3.You will be the port of call for the Changemakers and Community Organisers who will help run the programme, and a regular and trusted individual whom the young people know and can connect with. To include but not limited to:
- You will support the Changemakers in co-creating this space with young people in the community and helping them identify ways to bring participants along into the membership.
- You will be managing the Changemakers who are delivering the programme - and updating both the Community Director and Director of Programmes and Partnerships on their progress and development.
- You will hold the budget for the programme - keeping track of expenses and thinking through ways to keep costs down.
- You will ensure that you provide accurate and timely financial information to the budget lead for your work and to the Finance, HR & Operations team
- You will be responsible for holding relationships with Alumni Changemakers and holding the relational culture of the CMDP to ensure we have a brilliant atmosphere for learning, nurturing and growth for Alumni Changemakers, including but not limited to:
- Taking responsibility for the pastoral care of Alumni Changemakers on placement including building the pastoral care approach with the Programmes Leadership Team.
- Taking responsibility for building and nurturing key relationships with fellow social justice activists, organisers and educators in the sector who can support, challenge and inspire our Alumni Changemakers.
- Representing TAA at any applicable events, in the press and in activist circles
- Building and nurturing relationships with alumni/members.
4.You will be accountable for the learning design and development of the Leadership Development Framework. To include but not limited to:
- Designing and developing a cohesive, high-quality curriculum aligned to TAA’s strategic goals and organisational values
- Establishing and embedding a clear pedagogical approach that underpins all delivery and supports effective facilitation
- Creating structured learning journeys that support the progression and development of young people as leaders
- Developing and maintaining facilitator guides, resources and tools to ensure consistency and quality across delivery
- Working with staff and members to ensure curriculum and pedagogy are effectively understood and implemented
- Reviewing delivery, gathering feedback and insights from members, and iterating on the curriculum and approach to continuously improve quality and impact
5.You will ensure that your programmatic activities are managed as well-oiled machines through pulling in the right people at the right time and ensuring that key milestones are met:
- Responsible for ensuring effective departmental administration including delegating key administrative tasks to relevant staff
- You will be working with the Director of Programme and Partnerships, Director of Community, the Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team and others to think about the safety, safeguarding, and wellbeing needs of the young people participating in the programme and beyond.
- You will ensure safeguarding and Health and Safety standards are met across the programmes team and other critical policies and practices within the organisation, working proactively with relevant leads to understand requirements and operationalise effectively
- You will contribute towards risk management standards and ensure Health and Safety standards are met across programmatic and community team
- You will be responsible for managing and overseeing a suite of behind-the-scenes systems, databases and resources which comply with UKGDPR, safeguarding and other legal requirements.
- You will be responsible for overseeing the logistics of the CMDP including the organisation and coordination of venues, food, travel, staff and risk assessments, individual care plans etc.
- Work closely with the development team to align work with fundraising targets and support them in identifying and securing appropriate fundraising opportunities

As Head of Data and Insights, you will shape and deliver our data strategy, driving improvements in how we capture, manage, and use data across the organisation. You will lead the development of high quality insight and reporting that supports both strategic and operational decision making, while strengthening data governance, quality, and compliance.
A key focus during this period will be providing direction and support to the Central Platform project, ensuring the safe, accurate, and effective migration of data into Microsoft Dynamics 365. You will also oversee the rebuilding of all reporting capability required by the Rehoming and Fostering teams within the new system, ensuring continuity of insight and decision making throughout the transition.
Alongside this, you will continue to lead the wider Data and Insights function, ensuring data is embedded as a trusted organisational asset. You will strengthen our approach to analytics, insight, and data maturity, while promoting a data driven culture across Blue Cross.
As a senior leader within the Information Services team, you will lead and develop a high performing team, contribute to wider technology and organisational strategy, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team and Trustees.
About you
You are an experienced data leader with strong delivery capability in complex transformation environments. You are confident operating at both strategic and operational levels, able to balance long term data strategy with hands on delivery support in critical programmes.
You bring experience of leading data migration, reporting transformation, or large scale system change, ideally within complex organisations with multiple stakeholders and legacy systems. You are confident influencing senior leaders, providing clear direction, and ensuring delivery remains focused on organisational priorities.
You are collaborative, pragmatic, and solutions focused, with the ability to bring clarity to complex data and system landscapes and translate them into actionable outcomes.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Significant experience in a senior data, insight, or analytics leadership role
- Strong expertise across data disciplines, including data governance, architecture, analytics, and insight generation
- Proven experience of developing and delivering data strategies that drive measurable organisational impact
- Experience of leading, managing, and developing high performing teams
- Demonstrable experience of influencing senior stakeholders and enabling evidence led decision making
- Strong analytical capability, with experience of working with complex datasets to generate actionable insight
- Experience working within complex organisations with multiple systems and diverse data sources
- Sound understanding of data protection, information governance, and relevant legislation, including GDPR and PECR
- The ability to demonstrate, understand and apply our Blue Cross values.
Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience
- Experience working within a not for profit or charitable organisation
- Experience of business intelligence and data visualisation tools, such as Power BI
- Experience of working with cloud-based data platforms, such as Azure
- Experience of implementing advanced analytics approaches, including predictive modelling or Artificial Intelligence
- Experience of building organisational data capability through training or communities of practice

We are looking for a hands-on leader who can bring significant income-generating expertise to a new challenge. You’ll sit lead our Outreach team, be a collaborative 'do-er' who leads inclusively, is passionate about our mission and wants to add value to our small team from day one. We want to work with someone who is excited by our growth journey and can be flexible and dynamic as we scale. We are launching our Senior Leadership Team this summer, which includes a Director of Income to take ownership of our income generation, drive forward our social value offer and lead our Outreach team effectively and kindly.
Purpose of the Role
The Director of Income role is responsible for leading our income generation. Our fundraising strategy is to significantly grow and further diversify our income, with a particular focus on corporate and trading income. The postholder will coordinate our fundraising activity, lead our Outreach team and work closely with the CEO to drive forward our income generation so we can safely deliver our ambitious strategy over the next 5 years.
In particular, the postholder will be responsible for coordinating and developing our income function, converting our strategic fundraising objectives into operational plans, managing the Head of Outreach and representing the organisation externally. However, the role is not solely governance and leadership - we need a do-er who is comfortable working in a small team and sharing responsibilities, including submitting fundraising proposals and taking responsibility for our reporting. They will work closely with the CEO, Director of Programmes, Head of Outreach and Communications and Fundraising Coordinator to ensure we are communicating our value proposition coherently and effectively to the important stakeholders that make our work possible.
We do not see this as a traditional fundraising director role - we are looking for a skilled generalist who can meet us where we are at by working confidently across Trusts and Foundations, statutory grants, corporate partnerships and traded services simultaneously. We are a small charity with 10 staff, so while we are looking for a decision-making and accountable leader, the postholder will be expected to support colleagues across the organisation. They will have a collaborateive spirit and the emotional intelligence to thrive in a small team.
The postholder will lead the Outreach team (CEO, Head of Outreach, and Fundraising and Communications Coordinator), ensuring we work efficiently and together. They will also model our values, actively promote our commitment to refugee leadership, and bring stability and leadership at a crucial time for our organisation's development. We are looking for someone humble and ambitious, motivated by our mission and confident in our ability to create a sustainable, full-service digital inclusion organisation for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
