Freedom from Torture has an exciting opportunity for a Research Programme Manager to join our team and play a central role in delivering an innovative international mental health research programme funded by a major UK research funder. The programme will explore whether artificial intelligence can safely and effectively support survivors of torture with managing distressing memories. Survivor co-design is central to the programme, ensuring that people with lived experience across diverse cultures, languages and backgrounds meaningfully shape innovation in mental health.
About us
Freedom from Torture is an established charity that has been supporting survivors of torture for over 35 years and has a dedicated donor base. We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions for people who have survived torture. We provide therapies to improve physical and mental health, medically document torture, and offer legal and welfare support. Our clinical model has been co-designed with survivors of torture and includes a range of interventions, including trauma-focused therapy, psychotherapy, family and couple systemic psychotherapy, group work, pain management and health assessment.

We use evidence from our services and survivor voices to influence national and international change, placing survivors at the centre of everything we do.
Our current strategy seeks to increase access to rehabilitation services for survivors of torture, strengthen our clinical excellence through research, and explore innovative models of service delivery that enable us to reach more people in need. This is a senior research programme management role supporting the delivery of a major externally funded health research programme involving multiple organisations, international collaborators and diverse stakeholder groups. The programme includes research involving human participants and brings together expertise from universities, charities, clinicians, researchers, technologists and people with lived experience.
A defining feature of this programme is its commitment to survivor leadership and co-design. The successful candidate will therefore work closely with survivor advisors, co-design groups and governance structures to support meaningful participation and ensure that lived experience perspectives are incorporated into programme decision-making, research development and delivery. This commitment to participation is central to the ethos, methodology and success of the programme.
Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Programme Manager will act as the central coordination point across the consortium and will be responsible for leading programme planning, coordinating international partners, supporting governance structures, managing funder reporting and compliance, coordinating financial oversight, supporting research governance and ethics, monitoring programme risks and preparing high-quality reports and briefings for funders, governance bodies and senior stakeholders.
The successful candidate will work closely with Freedom Fron Torture colleagues across clinical services, survivor leadership and empowerment, fundraising, finance, research partners and organisational leadership to ensure successful delivery of programme objectives. This role offers a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of health research, innovation, survivor involvement and international collaboration.
About you
You will be an experienced programme or project management professional with a track record of delivering complex health research programmes. You will have experience of managing externally funded research programmes, working with major research funders, coordinating activity across multiple organisations, supporting governance structures, managing risk and assurance processes, and contributing to financial monitoring and reporting.
You will understand the importance of meaningful involvement of people with lived experience in research and service development. You will have experience of supporting inclusive engagement, co-design, consultation or participation activities and be committed to ensuring that diverse voices influence decision-making, governance and programme delivery.
You will bring excellent communication and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work confidently with academics, clinicians, funders, people with lived experience, senior organisational leaders and colleagues across different professional backgrounds. About working for Pancreatic Cancer UK
This is a fast-paced and growing organisation that is committed to making a difference to people with Pancreatic Cancer through research, support and campaigning. Being a part of our team is being part of a thriving, positive, successful, and welcoming community that is making an impact. We will support and develop you. There are opportunities to get involved in activities outside the scope of your immediate role. We care about your health and well-being and your work-life balance. You will feel that your contribution is valued and matters.
About us
Pancreatic cancer is a tough one, but we're taking it on. It is tough to diagnose, tough to treat, and tough to research. For too long this disease has been sidelined. We want to make sure that everyone affected by it gets all the help they need. Together we are taking on pancreatic cancer. Underpinning this vision are our three values:
We cannot achieve our vision without employing people who are committed to our vision, strategy, and values.
At Pancreatic Cancer UK (PCUK) our ambition is to create an inclusive working environment that reflects the communities and audiences that we engage with and where everyone can be their true selves, where they feel respected, championed, heard, and supported. We want our workforce to achieve their potential, understand their contribution and feel proud of their impact by creating a culture and organisation that is genuinely inclusive by advancing equality, diversity, inclusion, and belonging through our policies and practices.
We believe diversity drives great outcomes by encouraging the different points of view that come from a diverse workforce. We want to hear from and engage with people whose experience of dealing with this disease may be very different depending on their individual circumstances and background. We can think of no better way to do this than by making sure this role fully represents our intent; therefore, we are especially keen to consider applications from suitable applicants who consider themselves to be in areas that appear underrepresented within the charity sector.
Safeguarding
PCUK is committed to safe and fair recruitment processes that safeguard and protect those we work with, support and serve. We make sure all our staff are selected, vetted (DBS/Criminal record checks where appropriate), trained, and supervised fairly and to a high standard so that they can provide safe, effective and compassionate care. Where we work with volunteers, we extend the same support in order to ensure that they are working within our ethos and standards.
Hybrid-working:
Our London office is a place to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. We are currently working hybrid with a minimum of 2-3 days in the office. This is an office-based role where you may be required to be in the office more frequently to attend activities and meetings depending on the needs of the role.

Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser
Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust
Salary: £34,000-£40,000 FTE, pro rata depending on experience | Hours: 14.8-18.5 hours per week (0.4-0.5 FTE) | Location: Home-based anywhere in the UK | Contract: 12 months initially, with a view to extension subject to funding and performance
Help sustain Palestine's first and only licensed palliative care service
Bethlehem Care & Hospice Trust (BCHT) is a small UK charity supporting the development of specialist palliative and hospice care in Palestine. In August 2023, the service we support became the first licensed palliative care service in Palestine. Since then, its specialist nurses have cared for more than 350 patients and their families and delivered more than 5,000 home visits.
The service has demonstrated what can be achieved. Our challenge now is to secure its future. We are investing in professional fundraising for the first time and are looking for an experienced Trusts & Foundations Fundraiser to help us build the sustainable income needed to protect and strengthen this pioneering service.
The opportunity
This is an unusually autonomous role in which you will work directly with BCHT's Trustees and colleagues in Palestine. You will take responsibility for developing income from charitable trusts, foundations and grant-making organisations: identifying prospects, developing compelling propositions, preparing high-quality applications and building long-term funder relationships.
We currently raise approximately £60,000-£80,000 each year against a core service requirement of around £150,000. Your initial focus will therefore be sustainability of the existing service, with opportunities subsequently to support its development and growth. Our Year 1 income target for this role is £70,000.
This role could be for you if you have proven experience of successful trusts and foundations fundraising; can demonstrate success in preparing grant applications; write persuasively; can research and develop a strong prospect pipeline; are highly organised; can work independently; and would value the opportunity to use your professional expertise to make a direct and measurable difference.
Experience of healthcare, hospice or palliative care, international development, small charities or faith-based organisations would be useful but is not essential.
BCHT is inspired by Christian values of compassion, dignity and service. Applicants should be sympathetic to the values and mission of the charity. The palliative care service we support is provided to people regardless of faith, ethnicity, background or ability to pay.
What we offer: flexible home-based working; 25 days' annual leave plus UK public/bank holidays, pro rata; and a workplace pension scheme with a 5% employer contribution, subject to scheme rules. You will have considerable scope to shape BCHT's approach to trusts and foundations fundraising and direct access to Trustees and decision-makers.
