The Role

As a Building Surveyor at Ability Housing, you’ll play a key part in managing the condition, safety, and ongoing improvement of our property portfolio.

About You

• We’re looking for someone who is:#
• Professionally qualified or working towards a relevant surveying qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB)

About the role

You will be primarily providing administrative support to a team across a range of functions within the Thames Valley, managing Excel spreadsheets and internal databases; managing calls to and from a range of people who have been impacted by crime. You will be able to demonstrate the excellent organisational skills essential to managing a demanding and diverse workload.

We support staff and volunteers to keep them safe within their role and you will be given all the training you need to be able to manage your role effectively. This role can at times be emotionally challenging and you may be exposed to demanding situations that requires resilience. As with all staff within the HS, you will be expected to engage with clinical supervision and supervision with you line manager.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated Administrative Officer to provide the quality support and attention to detail that keeps our programmes running smoothly. You will be joining a passionate team dedicated to helping children all over the world develop their critical thinking and learn about global current affairs. We are a small but growing team of 17, and in this role, you will work across every part of the charity, seeing our impact in action and ensuring our daily operations are handled with total consistency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Team operations and administration

• Provide essential admin support including booking travel, purchasing equipment, managing the post, and supporting printing

• Act as the administrator for most team subscriptions, online tools and softwares

• Maintain a well-organised office environment, including inventory management for the team cupboard and equipment

• Proactively identify and fix broken systems, creating better ways to manage tasks

• Build strong relationships with the key teams from The Economist Group such as Facilities, HR, and IT to ensure smooth operational support to the Foundation’s work

Financial administration

• Accurately process and record weekly payment runs and invoices in the banking and finance systems

• Assist with financial reconciliation and proactively chase outstanding payments or missing receipts

• Process staff and volunteer expense claims, ensuring they align with the charity’s financial policies

Programme and event support

• Act as the first point of contact for the Foundation’s inboxes, providing excellent service to teachers by troubleshooting account issues and managing enquiries

• Support the programme and fundraising teams by collating qualitative and quantitative data on students and teachers for programme and funder reporting

• Manage the process of sending physical materials and resources to schools and teachers when relevant, including packing, addressing, and coordinating couriers or post

• Lead the logistics for webinars and live lessons on online event tools, including managing platform settings and hosting calls

• Coordinate logistics for team socials and events with partners, funders, and trustees, including room/venue booking, catering, and on-site setup

HR and onboarding

• Manage candidate logistics, including posting roles, redacting applications, handling diversity monitoring forms, and scheduling interviews

• Provide high-quality service to applicants, acting as a warm and professional point of contact for all interview coordination

• Lead the practical setup for new joiners, including IT access, office tours, equipment handovers, and managing DBS checks

Campaigns Officer

About the role

Reporting in to the Campaigns Advisor, the Campaigns Officer will lead on the delivery of Christian Aid campaigns aimed at both movement building (through the development of supporters’ agency and ability to lead campaigns), and mobilisation (encouraging key audiences in the church and the wider to public to achieve strategic policy, legislative and culture change).

The post-holder will be develop and deliver high impact plans, tactics and activities that align with the strategies developed for campaigns, in relation to supporting churches and community groups (with a focus on Black Christians, Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches, and young adult Christians) and mobilising supporters to engage advocacy targets in political, private sector or in church environments.

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Campaigns Officer include:

• Develop and implement movement building and mobilisation strategies, tactics and plans for Christian Aid's core campaigns, proactively identifying opportunities for meaningful change.
• Materials are created, communications events are developed and delivered, and campaign tools are rolled out for target audiences that engage and inspire a deeper understanding of how to approach global justice and poverty issues; and that engage and inspire them to undertake campaign actions and maximise impact.
• Organising opportunities are developed, tested and learnt from to support churches and other public audiences in the delivery of core campaigns.
• Digital opportunities are maximised to mobilise church and other public audiences at scale to influence advocacy targets on core campaigns.
• Young Adult Christians are resourced and supported, deepening their understanding about issues of global justice and poverty, and empower their own agency to tackle these issues and to be a key part of campaigns.
• Organising and power building principles are embedded in campaign strategies and tactics and meet organisational values and goals.
• Ensure coalition campaigning is influenced and/or led (where appropriate) by Christian Aid and meets organisational values and goals.
• Campaigns Volunteer roles are created, recruited and effectively managed, creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Collaborate with staff across IPE, ensuring they are supported to engage their key audiences and involved with movement building and mobilisation, embracing a team mindset aligned with organisational values and goals.

This role is a fixed term contract for a period of around 6-months

About you

Essential:

• Knowledge of campaigning, activism and organising methodologies and techniques: how to promote a campaign and mobilise a wide range of supporters to win campaigns.
• Proven project management skills.
• Experience of campaigning (preferably in a community or church-based context) and movement building including digital campaigning, resource-production, event management, writing and marketing.
• The ability to communicate complex messages creatively and effectively to diverse audiences through a range of different media.
• Experience of breaking down complex issues into engaging and accessible material, e.g. leaflets, flyers, posters, web content, e-actions and social networking tools.

About ASH

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) is a leading public health charity working to eliminate the harm caused by tobacco. We work with government, parliamentarians, the NHS, researchers and civil society to deliver policies that reduce smoking and support people to quit, with the ultimate aim of ending smoking in the UK.

A key part of ASH’s work is supporting and convening professional networks that bring together organisations and experts working to reduce smoking harms across different sectors.

Purpose of the Role

The Stakeholder Engagement and Network Co-ordinator will support and strengthen several of ASH’s key professional networks, ensuring they operate effectively and maximise their impact on policy and practice. The post holder will maintain strong engagement with network members, facilitate collaboration across sectors, and ensure insights from networks inform ASH’s policy and communications work.

The role will also lead on the development of a new Lived Experience Network, enabling people with current or past experience of smoking to inform ASH’s policy work.

In addition, the post holder will support organisations to sign up to and engage with the newly launched Pledge for a Smokefree UK, helping to build a broad coalition of support for ending smoking.

Over the coming year it is anticipated that there will be a high volume of government consultations on tobacco as government prepares to implement the powers in the Tobacco and Vapes Act. The input of our professional networks into these consultations will be an additional priority.

1- Purpose:

The P&C Business Partner drives the P&C operational effectiveness in Country Offices, facilitates organisational development and change and provides a framework for best people’s practice and quality standards.  The P&C Business Partner also supports the organization in developing and implementing initiatives that encourage diversity, promote equity, and support psychological and physical safety of the workforce.

2- Accountability & Responsibilities:

Operational delivery (40%)

• Provides advice and influences action on P&C global policies, and in collaboration with local P&C Specialists advices on local policies and employment law to staff and management based in COs.
• Supports the review and localisation of P&C policies and embeds best practice, ensuring local needs and culture are reflected.
• Works with CPCO, P&C  team, Global Directors of Country Offices and Logistics Manager to identity and mitigate people related risks in COs and prevent and resolve issues.
• Supports adherence to safety, security and Safeguarding policies and procedures in COs.

Employee Relations and Employee Services (30%)

• Monitors the whistleblowing line and ensures timely action is taken in all complaints received related to COs.
• Oversees and works with P&C and COs management on the prevention and effective resolution of employee relations issues and adherence to disciplinary procedures. Responsible for maintaining confidential records.
• Conducts investigations and liaises with legal firms and/or investigators to resolve ER cases.
• Identifies trends and areas of concerns based on data channels i.e. surveys and exit interviews and proposes and implements remedial actions.
• Acts as one of the systems administrators of the whistleblowing and the anti-terrorism platforms

Quality Assurance (20%)

• Drives efficiency and quality assurance of P&C operational practices in COs by conducting assessments and P&C audits and works with P&C Specialists and Country Directors (CDs) to enhance the employee experience, ensure consistency, continuous improvement and enhance People’s capacity in country.
• Supports CDs to ensure compliance and manage P&C risks as per country risk register and audits’ actions.
• Contributes to the data gathering, analysis and presentation of P&C reports, to enable decision making Identifies trends, proposes actions for improvement and instigates implementation.

Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (10%)

The role has a primary focus on supporting and advising leaderships and coaching P&C specialists and managers on P&C operational needs of Country Offices. Consults the CPCO on complex, unclear or long term impact matters.

4- Leadership and Staff management

Provides technical leadership and coaching to the P&C Specialists in COs (10 plus colleagues), also acts as counsel of CDs and senior staff based in COs on P&C policies and strategic shifts impacting staff. Lead the P&C Global Community of Practice and the Global DEIA Committee (GDEIAC).

5-  Information requirement for decision-making

Identifies areas for improvement and implements P&C solutions in COs to ensure a smooth service is provided. Under the guidance of senior P&C staff, updates and embeds policies, processes and other key P&C initiatives. 

Uses the policy framework, organisational and country strategies to guide priorities. Their action is informed by trends and issues identified as a result of the analysis of People’s data reports, surveys and other sources available to mainstream processes and achieve efficiency in the operation.  Policy changes are to be approved by the CPCO.

6- Innovation and Improvements

The incumbent is expected to proactively recommend improvements to policies, procedures and practices based on international P&C best practices.  Working with P&C specialised colleagues introduces improvements across all areas of P&C including workforce planning, safeguarding and Safety and Security.

Internally works closely with the P&C global team, CDs, HQ Country Operations and Finance on the delivery of P&C annual processes and initiatives that drive improvement and effectiveness. 8- Expertise (Certifications / Education, Professional Experience)

• Master’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, Org Behaviour or related field
• Extensive experience of working at HQ or regional level on an international development organization with representation in low and medium income countries
• Experience in management of HR international operations with thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable local laws, donor requirements in a number of countries with the intention of providing similar employee experience across the board
• Experience in delivering HR services through a business partner model
• Experience advising and training P&C professionals, staff and leadership on employee relations issues and best people management practices
• Proficient in verbal and written English and fluent in French, Arabic or Portuguese is preferred

This is a grant funded role, fixed term for two years, with the opportunity for conversion to a permanent role should funding allow.

Main Purpose of the Role:

To provide proactive, emotional, and practical support to families and individuals affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) across Scotland. The role will focus on early engagement, wellbeing assessment, community building, and delivery of workshops and events, while ensuring accurate tracking of support outcomes and data.  
 
The successful candidate will also lead on support for young people living with Duchenne during 2 key transition points (primary to secondary school stage and moving into adulthood). They will work closely with the England-based Transitions Coordinator to deliver a joined-up programme of support across the UK. 

Specific Tasks:

1. Proactive Family Support 

• Initiate contact with newly registered families within agreed timeframes (email within 3 working days, call within 7–10 working days) 

• Contact to be made to all registered Action Duchenne members, knows to us in Scotland, to ensure the current support offer is clear  

• Provide ongoing support tailored to individual needs, including emotional wellbeing, physical health, housing, financial security, self-esteem and respect, decision-making, social engagement, quality of life, and access to care 

• Use the Action Duchenne Assessment Form and Action Plan to identify and respond to areas of concern 

2. Transitions Support 

· Lead transition support across all nations, with a focus on Scotland, for children and young people facing key life changes, including: 

· Moving between educational settings such as primary to secondary 

· Transitioning from paediatric to adult health services 

· Changes in mobility and independence (e.g. transitioning to using powerchairs)

· You will lead, but expected to work collaboratively with the England-based Transition Coordinator to ensure consistency and continuity of support across the UK 

· Develop resources, guidance, and workshops to support families through transitions 

3. Wellbeing Tracking and Outcome Measurement 

· Administer wellbeing questionnaires and record scores across key domains (e.g. physical health, emotional wellbeing, financial security) 

· Collaborate with families to co-create action plans and track progress 

· Ensure all data is entered into CRM (E-Tapestry or similar) within the allotted timeframe, i.e. immediately after or during the call. 

4. Community Engagement and Event Delivery

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. You will coordinate our climate Coalition – Roots to Rise. You will be accountable for the development and delivery of our Climate Coalition Programme; Roots to Rise, including but not limited to: 

• Coordinating efforts to set the strategic direction and priorities for the Programme, working primarily with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Associate Director of Partnerships, and in connection with others that need to feed into the programme.
• Proactively build relationships with our coalition partners. This involves: 
  • Holding regular 1:1s and relational meetings that strengthen our connection, supporting partners to identify and act on their developing political interests, and ensuring they meet coalition milestones. 
  •   It also includes providing ongoing support around campaigns and community organising, enabling partners to lead and deliver local actions following the Summer Camp.
• Lead the Youth Steering Group. This involves: 
  • Providing strategic oversight and facilitation of the Youth Steering Group, ensuring consistent engagement, strong attendance, and meaningful youth voice throughout the programme.
  • Setting clear agendas, supporting members to contribute confidently, and ensuring insights are captured and translated into programme design and delivery. 
  • Working closely with partners to maintain alignment and ensure the group reflects the diversity and needs of the young people Roots to Rise serves.
• Lead the development of the Summer Camp (15th - 19th August 2026), ensuring availability across these dates: 
  •  Work closely with the Associate Director of Partnerships to oversee the delivery of the Roots to Rise Summer Camp, ensuring all elements are well-coordinated, high-quality, and aligned with programme outcomes.
  • Take ownership of key logistics, including timelines, partner coordination, and on-the-ground delivery, ensuring a smooth and inclusive experience for all participants. 
  • Support and enact mechanisms to capture learning and feedback throughout, ensuring insights are gathered effectively to inform real-time improvements and future iterations of the camp.
• You will ensure that Roots to Rise runs like a well-oiled machine by pulling in the right people at the right time to ensure key milestones are met:
  • Coordinate and maintain a suite of behind-the-scenes systems, processes and resources to keep things running like clockwork and provide transparency and help build trust
  • Coordinate the holding of safeguarding, risk management standards and ensure Health and Safety standards are met.
  • Maintain the clear monitoring and evaluation frameworks for your work which allow you and your team to learn, test, and re-test as you build, in partnership with young people and other partners
•  Hold the budget for the Roots to Rise Programme, ensuring that all activities are run within financial targets, working closely with the Director of Programmes and Partnerships and Associate Director of Partnerships to maintain oversight, identify efficiencies and potential savings, and proactively flag any risks or opportunities that may impact delivery or budget adherence.

• Working closely with the Senior Lead for Gender Coalition to identify opportunities for collaboration and reducing duplication
• Work closely with the Programmes, Organising and Campaigns, and Community teams to develop training on organising and campaigning.
• Deliver ad hoc workshops and meetings, holding space effectively and designing and delivering creative learning journeys for young people.

From racism to the housing crisis to climate justice, you’ll be aware of how systemic injustice operates in our society, clued-up and well-informed on the big issues of our time, and committed to changing them.
•  You’ll be comfortable managing a “to-do” list of competing priorities and balancing your workload to meet competing deadlines.
•  You’re a sensitive and thoughtful relationship-builder who is interested in building a network of relationships to support the Advocacy Academy’s work. You’re a great listener, and remember people’s names, faces, and stories. 
• You’re a confident written and verbal communicator, who is comfortable with tailoring communication to reach a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders.
• You’re proactive, organised, and eager to learn, whether that’s chatting with potential funders, researching new opportunities or collaborating with teammates.

IDEAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  

• At least 5 years of experience in programmes delivery on issues of social justice working with young people and/or 
• At least 5 years of experience in supporting people to be more confident and comfortable developing and implementing organising or campaign efforts.
• Detail oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
•  Experience working with different audiences or types of stakeholders 
•  Strong project management and experience working collaboratively across teams both in person and online
• Excellent organisational skills with confidence managing multiple tasks at the same time/ balancing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
• Experience with our existing systems e.g., Gmail/ Google Doc/ Google Sheets/ Canva/ Slack
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment 

This is an outline of the responsibilities and duties of the Senior Lead Climate Coalition role, it is not intended as an exhaustive list and may change from time to time to meet the changing needs of the Liberation Centre and our young people. Any changes will be made in consultation with the post holder.

• Tell us about a climate justice issue that makes you angry and why it matters to you?
• Our Senior Lead for Climate Coalition will train young people and organisations to become confident climate organisers. Tell us about a training programme you were part of, what it achieved, what it didn’t, your role in that effort and any reflections you have about being part of it?
• Our Senior Lead Climate Coalition will support people to act on their developing political interests. Tell us about a time when you helped someone learn and develop their capacity to make change in the world?
• Include anything else you would like us to know as we consider your candidacy for the Senior Lead Climate Coalition role.

In addition, please also provide information on your notice period and your availability for interview. You may also attach any other content that would be relevant for us to have in order to showcase interest and experience. The content can come in any form of media, including but not limited to - a mind map of ideas, a timeline or portfolio of your work, life or experiences; a recording; a Powerpoint or other form of presentation; a song, article, poem or other writing samples.

DATES

• Closing Date: The deadline for applications 18th May 2026 by 10am.
• Task: If shortlisted you may be required to complete a brief facilitation activity with young people around organising or campaigns.
• First Round of Interviews: will be scheduled for w/c 18th May 2026 (Dates are subject to change).
• Second Round of Interviews: will be scheduled for w/c 01 June 2026 (Dates are subject to change).
