Youth Delivery Mentoring Officer

About Reaching Higher 

Reaching Higher is a youth organisation which works with almost 2000 young people aged 10 - 18 each year across Croydon and surrounding boroughs. Developed in partnership with local churches, we are a youth-led charity with a Christian ethos.We place particular emphasis on providing mentoring support to young people and facilitating their development as leaders. We have established strong links with key local, London and UK-wide organisations and our approach leads us into regular working contact with partner schools, community groups and churches. 

Role Details & Staff Benefits

Salary: £51,500 gross per annum

Duration: Fixed-term until 31st July 2027

Hours: 0.8 - 1 FTE (4 – 5 days per week)

Location: Hybrid – NASP has an office space at London's Southbank Centre which can be used by staff at any time. The role will be expected to work up to 2 days per week in the office with the remainder at home. There may also be additional occasional travel required for staff days and other events.

Purpose of This Role:

This is a strategic role, funded by the Sir Halley Stewart Trust, to shape future policy and practice in how faith communities support social prescribing for the benefit of local communities. This includes exploring the role of faith as a strategic partner in the government's neighbourhood health agenda. Building on the work of the current postholder, and previous work by NASP and organisations like Theos and the Good Faith Partnership, this role will take the lead at a national level by influencing, shaping and convening partners to unlock and unleash the significant resources of faith groups in contributing towards holistic healthcare delivered within the community.

The purpose of this role is to lead and co-ordinate NASP’s work on social prescribing with partners across the faith sector and enable a better understanding of how to work effectively with faith communities through social prescribing, and the role that faith and belief plays in supporting good health and wellbeing. The role will work to improve accessibility of community support through social prescribing by exploring the barriers and opportunities in faith communities and the health sector. The role will have a particular emphasis on health inequalities and explore opportunities for faith groups’ reach into deprived communities and ethnic minority communities, recognising that faith communities may be most trusted precisely where health inequalities are most acute.

The role sits in the National Leads & Evidence team, led by the Executive Director of Strategy and Partnerships. The postholder will work alongside NASP colleagues who lead on Healthcare integration; Evidence and Insights; International Social Prescribing; and connections with sectors that provide community activities and support such as the natural environment, physical activity, historic environment and arts and culture.

Person Specification:

Experience & Knowledge:

• Excellent knowledge of the health sector and/or the VCFSE (Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise) sector 

• Experience of working in a senior level role at the health and community interface that has included involvement with different faith groups or an understanding of their perspectives. This might be in a delivery or policy role.

• An appreciation of the role of the VCFSE sector in the health and wellbeing of the population and ideally an understanding of the changing healthcare landscape in England at national or local level.

• Understanding of the challenges and opportunities for faith organisations, health and care agencies, local authorities, VCFSE organisations and community groups.

• Excellent partnership building and interpersonal skills with experience of building trusting long-term relationships with partners and experience of inspiring, convening and supporting organisations to work in partnership.

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, both internally with peers and senior management, and externally with partners and stakeholders.

• Experience of planning and leading successful and innovative projects. Able to produce project plans and budgets and co-produce delivery plans with colleagues and partners, identifying risks and managing them together.

Responsibilities:

Role Overview:

• Act as the faith lead within NASP, being the point of contact and key advocate for faith communities’ involvement in social prescribing, across all major traditions.

• Represent and develop faith groups’ engagement in NASP’s existing activities, programmes and events including workstreams in NASP to build the capacity of Social Prescribing Link workers (SPLWs); support the community assets that SPLW’s harness in their work; and connecting across different Government Departments to explore how social prescribing connects with strategies related to employment, youth, education and community cohesion.

• Have a specific focus of how faith communities can work with social prescribers to support those experiencing health inequalities.

• Support and inform the development of NASP’s wider workstreams and the implementation of its strategy.

• Lead and co-ordinate NASP’s national work on social prescribing with partners across the faith sector, including the Good Faith Partnership.

• Build understanding and awareness within NASP and across other sectors of what is required to support the effective provision of services, activities and information in the faith sector to promote health and wellbeing through social prescribing.

• Liaise with, and support, new and existing initiatives to build an evidence base for faith-based social prescribing.

​TASO was set up in 2019 and became an independent charity in April 2021. Their work focuses on the generation, synthesis and dissemination of high-quality evidence about effective practice in widening participation and student outcomes. ​Role:

​The Chief Research Officer will ensure the smooth and successful delivery of TASO’s Research & Evaluation programme, with overall responsibility for TASO’s Research and Evaluation budget. This will involve managing the staff involved in these functions to deliver TASO’s research, evaluation, synthesis and evidence mobilisation activities to time and within budget.
 
Working closely with the Chief Executive, the postholder will help shape TASO’s overall strategic direction and translate this into a clear programme of research and evaluation activity. About the role 

The Network Engagement Officer supports The Tomorrow’s Engineers Code (or The Code, as we often call it) community. The Code community is a network of 400+ organisations committed to inspiring more young people into engineering and technology careers through STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) outreach. 
 

The Code brings together organisations of all types and sizes to share ideas, learn from each other, and collaborate to collectively improve the impact of our STEM outreach. We do this by providing them with practical resources, events, regular communications and a supportive LinkedIn group.

The Network Engagement Officer works with the Senior Code Manager to grow, engage and support Code community members (we call them Signatories). The Network Engagement Officer is responsible for growing the community through recruiting and onboarding new members and ensuring high levels of engagement across the diversity of the community through writing and scheduling regular communications to them via email and LinkedIn and delivering an engaging content series to help them collectively improve their outreach, as well as tracking their participation across activity.

In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. The Purpose of the Role

Scope and Authority 
 

Authority:
As the Program Advocacy and Engagement Director, you serve as a strategic leader shaping IRC’s global influence across crisis response contexts, guiding advocacy efforts that are integral to advancing IRC’s mission. You are responsible for strengthening our advocacy strategies and practice, providing strategic oversight, coordination and strategy building across national, regional and multilateral advocacy efforts. You will work with regionally based teams and collaborate with senior regional and country leaders, technical experts, and global counterparts to optimize IRC’s advocacy reach, advocate for systems change policies and impacts and ensure coherence. Essential

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:
•  Graduate degree or equivalent experience in relevant field such as Public Policy, International Development, Politics, Economics, Law or International Relations **

· Line manage the Senior Research and Evaluation Adviser or Senior Data Officer

This post will be offered on a fixed term basis.

This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours of 10am-4pm.

Working Pattern

· This is a full-time (35 hours per week) post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The role works with a hybrid working pattern. While some on-site presence will be required for team collaboration, events, and programme activities, there is potential for a substantial proportion of working hours to be undertaken remotely.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience

Essential criteria

· Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in any research or evaluation job.  Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training 

· Ability to consider and select appropriate research designs and methodologies, using qualitative and quantitative methods including surveying, interviewing and running focus groups.  

· Experience establishing causal inference in research when evaluating projects or interventions with experimental methods (e.g. quasi-experimental methods, randomised controlled trials). 

· Experience in designing and running multiple social research and evaluation projects, managing competing demands and timescales and delivering to milestones. 

· Confident in conducting data analysis including handling large data sets and statistical testing using relevant software (such as Power BI, R, Stata, or SPSS) and presenting findings in various formats. 

· Confident and clear written and verbal communication, including report-writing, data visualisation and presentation skills. 

· Ability to give a team clear direction and guide it to the successful completion of a task. 

· Ability to identify and manage the objectives, performance, and development needs of others. 

Desirable criteria

· Postgraduate degree or qualification in research methods, statistics, analytics or a related field and/or relevant experience. 

· Experience using behavioural insights in a research or policy context to positively influence behaviour 

· Understanding of the widening participation agenda and/or the role of higher education in social mobility
