About the role

We are seeking a visionary leader to join us as Principal Policy Adviser (Work and Care) to drive the design, development and delivery of programmes that generate influential arguments, policies and ideas addressing the social and economic challenges underpinning poverty and economic insecurity in the UK today. This role is central to charting a course toward a fairer and more prosperous future.

In addition, you will lead the external projection of this work, shaping national conversations, influencing decision-making at the highest levels, building strategic alliances and partnerships and backing experimentation and real-world alternatives. Your leadership will help nurture longer term shifts in thinking and action, ensuring that our work resonates and drives meaningful change across society.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the wider organisation, drawing on different disciplines and perspectives to strengthen policy and ideas work and maximise potential for change. You will engage closely with colleagues in teams across devolved nations, considering the territorial implications of their work and exploring how to address issues where responsibilities are devolved.

About you

We are seeking a candidate with strong expertise in UK labour markets or systems of care and a clear understanding of how these relate to poverty and economic insecurity. You will have a sophisticated grasp of how policy making works across the UK including devolved and sub-national governments and be well engaged with current political and policy debates. You will also understand how a range of analytical approaches, both quantitative and experiential, can be applied to complex policy issues, alongside a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse culture.

You will be skilled at navigating complex dilemmas, using evidence, research and lived experience to develop insightful and original ideas. You will think critically and creatively, communicate persuasively and identify and support new ideas and perspectives beyond JRF. You will also be an effective collaborator, able to build partnerships and work with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will bring a track record of shaping influential ideas or policies and experience of engaging and influencing at senior levels. You will have led successful projects or programmes, supported others through coaching and development and contributed to building high-performing, positive teams.

We have a team of 11 staff and every year work with over 200 volunteers.

Job Description: Senior Programmes Manager

Hours: 30 - 37.5 per week* (subject to agreement)

Holiday:  6 weeks pro rata (includes bank holidays)

The Senior Programmes Manager will work closely with our Senior Finance & Commercial Manager to provide leadership for Chopwell Regeneration Group (CRG), reporting to the Board of Trustees.  They will lead on strategy, planning and delivery for all programmes, working with board, staff and volunteers, and external partners to ensure activities are achievable, properly resourced, financially sustainable, impactful and effectively evaluated.

Key areas of responsibility:

● Strategic planning and delivery of social, cultural, education and training programmes that meet CRG’s objectives, including improved mental health and wellbeing, skills development and employability for Chopwell residents.

● Leading the growth of our public programmes that deliver wide-ranging educational and wellbeing benefits for the people of Chopwell, from social prescribing activity to business support. This includes planning annual programme aims and outcomes, developing partnerships, and ensuring delivery is financially sustainable and properly resourced.

● Leadership and management of staff including line management responsibility.

● Managing the volunteer programme in line with best practice and working with the staff team to recruit, communicate with and support volunteers.

● Developing and managing successful and innovative partnerships across a range of sectors and growing partnerships locally, regionally and nationally.

● Ensuring there is sufficient staff capacity to deliver programmes effectively, and advocating for and working with the Board to identify funding and support for additional resources.

● Identifying new funding opportunities and working with CRG Board to secure grant funding for programmes in line with strategic objectives.

● Managing budgets for all programmes and ensuring financial targets are met. 

● Evaluating outcomes across all programmes including collecting data, generating case studies and impact reports for Trustees, funders and a range of stakeholders.

● Ensuring programmes are delivered in accordance with current legislation, contractual/accrediting body requirements and CRG’s policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection. 

● Working with the staff team to generate news articles, photos, printed material and social media content to promote CRG’s programmes.

● Representing CRG at relevant events, networks and forums to build networks and raise CRG’s profile across a range of sectors.

The Role

The Careers Advisers will cover one or more of the following regions: Medway, West Kent and Mid Kent to a broad range of school and college settings, delivering creative and inclusive Personal Careers Guidance, as well as assemblies and drop-in sessions as required. 

Each student and each learning environment will be unique, so the opportunity lends itself well to candidates who enjoy traveling and working in varied locations, meeting people from diverse backgrounds, and educating people of all abilities.

You will routinely liaise with Careers Leaders and senior school/ college staff to arrange and deliver activities for students during the school day. Whilst most delivery will take place between 8:30am and 4pm, travel before and after these times will be required and occasional attendance at parents’ and options evenings will also be required, but you will be given time off in lieu where this is applicable.

We would require you to work five days-a-week, term time only, with a pro rata holiday entitlement. If you would prefer part-time only employment (minimum of three days a week), this can be negotiated.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Residential Service Manager to support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, person-centred care. You will ensure services are safe, effective, compliant and continuously improving, meeting the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Care Act 2014, and CQC standards. The role involves maintaining strong safeguarding practices, overseeing audits and quality monitoring, and ensuring accurate documentation, care planning, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance, while promoting dignity, independence, and positive outcomes for the people we support.

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational delivery of services, including safe staffing through effective rota and workforce planning, recruitment, supervision, appraisal and staff development, while working to reduce reliance on agency staff. Expanding our curriculum

In response to our successful roll out of T Levels from September 2024 we are expecting to expand the offer of the program in Digital Software Development with up to 75 learners across both our campuses with London hosting up to 50 learners. This includes a 315-hour industry placement and a comprehensive skills program designed to launch successful careers in tech.  We are also looking ahead to launching new V Levels in 2027 in response to the DfE launch of distinct programmes of study.

The Seafarers’ Charity is the leading fundraising and grant‑making charity dedicated to improving the lives of seafarers and their families. For over 100 years, we have supported those who work at sea by funding vital welfare services and driving long‑term, systemic change across the maritime sector.

About the role

Reporting to the Impact Director, the Grants Manager will manage an annual grants programme of approximately £3 million, overseeing the full grants lifecycle from application and assessment through to monitoring, evaluation and learning. You will build strong relationships with funded partners, prepare robust funding recommendations for Trustees, and ensure our grant‑making is effective, proportionate and aligned with best practice.

You will also line manage an Impact Executive (0.4 FTE) and work closely with colleagues across the organisation to share learning, evidence impact and support wider fundraising and advocacy work.

-Proven experience leading supporter retention or direct marketing programmes across multiple channels (digital, mail, telephone)

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Head of Employee Relations and Culture to join our Central Service team located at our head office in Islington

£60,000.00 - £65,000.00 per annum, working 35 hours per week.

The Head of Employee Relations and Culture is responsible for leading the organisation's approach to employee relations, culture, and staff engagement, ensuring the delivery of fair, consistent, and values-led people practices across the organisation.

What you'll do:

Employee relations leadership

• Lead the delivery of a high-quality, responsive employee relations service across the organisation.

Culture, values and employee voice

• Lead and champion a positive, inclusive and respectful organisational culture aligned to Look Ahead's values.
• Lead the development and delivery of initiatives that strengthen organisational culture, staff engagement and recognition.

Policy, governance and assurance

• Lead the development, review and implementation of employee relations policies and procedures, ensuring they are legally compliant, accessible and consistently applied.

Partnership and influence

• Work collaboratively with People colleagues, manager and leaders, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, and other

About you:

• Significant experience leading busy employee relations functions within a medium to large organisation.
• Experience managing complex and high-risk employee relations cases.
• Proven experience of leading culture, engagement, or organisational development initiatives.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

• Significant senior-level experience in employee relations within a complex organisation.
• Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
• Demonstrable experience managing complex ER cases, organisational change and senior stakeholder relationships.
