Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid have for over 45 years supported women and children with services around domestic violence and abuse. Could you be a part of our team as we continue our mission to end domestic violence and abuse?

Key Responsibilities - 

To assist the refuge manager in the day-to-day running of the refuge, developing and delivering a front line service offering support, advice and guidance to women and their children living in the refuge.

Experience Required -

Providing practical and emotional support to women and children affected by domestic violence 

Offering advice and information and advocating for service users on a range of issues including homelessness, benefits, legal, social welfare issues etc. 

Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with external agencies 

Working within safeguarding guidelines to protect and promote the well-being of children and vulnerable adults

We provide services to aid every stage of recovery - from immediate basic welfare needs to long term help in identifying and dealing with the problems which are undermining their stability, and enabling them to engage with education, employment and specialist health services.  National statistics rank the numbers of rough sleepers in Cambridge within the highest 20 UK local authorities.

About you and the Role

As the operational lead of the services area at Overstream House, the Services Coordinator ensures the seamless delivery of daily welfare services (inductions, showers, meals, laundry, activities) while providing proactive, trauma-informed caseload management to transition service users from crisis to stable housing.

This role bridges immediate care with long-term strategic action, developing partnerships, signposting, improving service efficiency, and fostering positive, sustainable life changes for Cambridge’s homeless community.

Key Responsibilities

• To work alongside the Services Manager to coordinate, maintain and further develop a service user led, trauma informed support and welfare service, often coordinating the functioning of the services area to ensure all runs efficiently, as well as contributing to the development of new and ongoing activities timetables.
• Provide welfare and accommodation-based support to service users including those that have complex needs, to help them build independence.
• Conducting inductions and needs assessments, creating individualised support plans, liaising with project worker team and monitoring progress for service users, including those with complex needs.
• Source safe accommodation, actively prevent homelessness through advocacy and signposting.
• To develop, promote partnerships with external agencies to help connect service users to essential services, promote Wintercomfort services to stakeholders through professional forums and meetings.
• Leading a daily team briefing with Services Manager overseeing the session providing a structured approach that balances operational updates, strategic oversight, raising concerns and discussing awareness of priorities, adhering to safeguarding procedures for vulnerable adults and managing challenging behaviour.
• To support the delivery of Wintercomforts learning and development service providing opportunities for service users to access to employment, learning and cultural opportunities that help promote self development
• To work in partnership with other organisations to deliver or to facilitate the delivery of services to meet the needs of service users for improved health and wellbeing, housing support, debt support and improved quality of life.
• To work with the Services Manager, CEO and other Managers to ensure that the delivery of the service meets funders requirements, achieves agreed outcomes and to assist with the timely delivery of monitoring reports for funders and stakeholders
• Maintaining accurate records that are uploaded to Inform in a timely way, documenting the support service provided to Wintercomforts service users.
• Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of internal and external monitoring of outcomes, assisting with reports to funders and supplying timely information to support funding applications.

Job title: Homelessness Lead Worker (Structured Coach)

Salary: £38,645 per annum

Crisis Skylight Oxford is located in the Old Fire Station in the centre of the city. Our team provide a one-to-one specialist housing led service to help people find and secure affordable housing. We offer person centred support and will help people with anything that will support them to end their homelessness, such as mental health and well-being, finances or finding employment.

The Old Fire Station building also accommodates a range of flexible arts spaces which are run by an independent arts company.  

About the role 

In this role you will carry your own caseload and be supporting people who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness into both the private rented sector and social housing.

You will be part of a supportive and established team who have knowledge and experience of accessing the PRS sector, completing housing assessments and budgeting plans.

The key to success will be your ability, as part of the Crisis team, to make collaborative, consistent and persistent relationships with each person you support and have good partnership working skills

About you, to be successful in this role you will have;

1. Experience of working within a relevant sector (e.g. homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment) and have good knowledge of relevant housing, homelessness and welfare legislation

2. Excellent understanding of supporting individuals experiencing multiple disadvantages

3. Understand of barriers and opportunities faced by people moving out of homelessness and into housing and securing positive outcome

4. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to mediate between parties who may have different priorities and to broker agreements

Help launch a new initiative housing the homeless through the local church

Hope into Action is a national Christian charity enabling local churches to provide homes and support for people experiencing homelessness.

We are launching a new Hope into Action franchise in Milton Keynes, and are looking for a Location Lead to help establish and grow the project from the ground up.

Working with churches, volunteers, and the Hope into Action national team, you will help create homes where people can rebuild their lives within a supportive Christian community.

About the role

As Location Lead, you will provide local leadership and coordination for the Milton Keynes project.

At launch the project will involve one house supporting up to three tenants, working in partnership with our first partner church, New Life Church Milton Keynes.

You will help:

• Build partnerships with churches across Milton Keynes
• Support and encourage church volunteers
• Ensure safeguarding and governance standards are maintained
• Develop relationships with local agencies, supporters, and investors
• Lay the foundations for future houses and growth

The role of a Children and Family Worker will support children and young people under the age of 18 on a one-to-one basis in a confidential space. The role will deliver a wide range of interventions/ education though activities, such as games, arts and crafts and emotional wellbeing resources. The role will utilise a young person-centred approach, empowering them to explore situations which they feel they have little control over to support them to lead a safe, happy, and healthy life.

The role will work in partnership and liaise with other young people services throughout Buckinghamshire, to provide holistic support to young people accessing the service. Responsibilities

About the role: 

• To holistically support CYP affected by parental substance misuse, using a range of interventions including group work, 1:1 work, whole family interventions, safety planning and safeguarding working closely and proactively with the family unit to support positive and sustainable outcomes.
• Identify families in conjunction with other agencies, who will benefit from a Think Family / Whole family approach, negotiating participation and engagement with the programme of care.

As Community Support Worker you will play a vital role in supporting the Project Manager as well as mentors and mentees in the community to encourage a young man make positive connections to enable him to desist from re-offending and give him a sense of hope for the future.

This will involve:

· Visiting the prison to meet mentees and mentors before release and assisting in development of initial three-month plan.

· Assess what support the mentee has in the community (include family, partners) and what additional support is needed.

· Research what services and agencies are available in the area. Identify relevant services (including probation services) to establish and build working relationships with, especially those who can offer Education, Training and Employment opportunities for the mentees.

· Ensure mentee and mentor needs are being met in the community and supportive measures are in place.

· Facilitating and supporting the mentoring relationship within the community when the mentee is released (through the gate) attending housing, probation, job centre appointments when required; being their advocate for making a claim for benefits; attending DWP appointments; accessing drug and alcohol services etc.

· Support mentors in helping mentees improve social skills, daily living skills, such as shopping, cleaning, self-care – find services that can offer additional support to the mentee/mentor.

· Attend and participate in meetings regarding the successful rehabilitation of prisoners

· Provide support to mentors in the community.

· Support the Project Manager with recruitment and training of new volunteers when required.

Essential experience and Knowledge required:

About the role

As Landlord Liaison Coach, you will join our team in Birmingham at an exciting time, delivering an outstanding property procurement service across the private and social rented sector. Working alongside our team of lead worker coaches you will identify appropriate matches of tenants and homes. In addition, you will be managing your own caseload of homeless members and providing advice, guidance and advocacy. It’s a role requiring commercial acumen and creativity as you partner with both social and private landlords to source accommodation for our members. You will work collaboratively with partners and staff across the organisation to ensure tenants receive the support they need to sustain their homes and landlord relationships are nurtured. Vale House is a not-for-profit Dementia Care Home specialising in the highly skilled care required for people who have complex needs arising from dementia. Its specialist care is much sought after and is provided in a light bright building which was purpose built in 2012 just outside Oxford, between Littlemore and Sandford-on-Thames. The forty individual en-suite rooms, which are all outward looking, are built around a figure of eight with internal courtyard gardens where residents can walk safely and securely. Founded in 1990 Vale House has one clear purpose: to care for people with dementia however severe or complicated, and to support their families. The quality of the work of Vale House rests on the skill and commitment of the staff who are chosen with care, well taught and then helped to learn further and work closely as a team.

Support for families is a defining characteristic of Vale House, and unusually Vale House has dedicated family support workers, committed to supporting the family and friends of each resident. Every year, thousands of people in the UK face court alone. Often through no choice of their own, people must represent themselves at a moment that could have life-changing outcomes. This includes loss of access to children or homelessness. At the same time, people facing court alone may find themselves up against a party with legal representation. They are instantly at a disadvantage and overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges they are up against. We supported unrepresented litigants in the civil and family courts in England and Wales over 45,000 times last year.

We provide a safe space with volunteers who listen to each client’s individual story. Last year, over 1000 volunteers helped people to get their thoughts in order, problem-solve and decide next steps, source relevant and reliable legal information, explain complex procedures, complete court forms, and clearly present statements.

At a time when legal support is increasingly limited, we have a vision that no one should have to face court alone.

We are SIFA Fireside, the support service for any adult in Birmingham that faces homelessness. For 40 years we have supported Birmingham’s most vulnerable people through Homelessness Intervention, Prevention and Recovery services.

The Adult Lead Worker service is based at our main hub in Digbeth but provides city-wide support to adults experiencing multiple disadvantages. This service provides flexible, strengths-based advice and support to people aged 18 years plus who experience two or more of substance use, poor mental health, history of repeat homelessness and offending history. Clients may also be serially excluded from services or be at risk of exclusion from mainstream services.

This is a targeted service that aims to build resilience, improve health and wellbeing and move people towards independent living at an early stage, in order to prevent or delay the need for crisis interventions.

The Lead Workers will also act as a community navigator linking the client into local services and activities, ensuring access to and receipt of necessary care and support that will vary for each client.

1. To ensure that the service operates in a strength-based way, taking a flexible and psychologically informed approach to support.

2. To ensure that clients are provided with choice and meaningful involvement in decisions about how they receive support, and in identifying and setting goals as agreed with them.

3. To work proactively to reduce barriers and support clients to access services, including for on-going health, mental health and substance use treatment / services.

4. Manage an active caseload of clients, keeping effective and up to date records and monitoring outcomes through our CRM database system.
