Help transform mental health support in Sutton while building something truly special.
Use your fundraising talent to make a lasting difference to thousands of local people and help shape the future of a pioneering mental health charity.
Part-time Community based Fundraising Manager 2 days pw
Salary £35k pro rata
About us
For nearly 30 years Sutton Mental Health Foundation has been a refuge for people in Sutton, Surrey, whose mental health has had an impact on their lives. Over this time, the Foundation has helped thousands of people navigate their way through their mental health challenges and in 2025 we saw an 18% increase in demand for our services.
From our unique and pioneering centre in the London Borough of Sutton, we provide a wide array of services aimed at promoting mental wellbeing, resilience and recovery from mental distress and ultimately, keeping people safe. Sutton Mental Health Foundation provides a place where people can feel safe and supported in tackling their mental health challenges and we provide these services 365 days a year.
Our crucial work
The Foundation is a hidden gem of innovation, with a pioneering ‘Intentional Peer Support’ approach at its heart, which trains former and current service users to provide support to individuals facing similar mental health challenges to those they have faced themselves. The first contact from local people experiencing severe anxiety or distress often comes through telephone calls or through our Crisis Café, which operates every evening in person from 6.30pm to 11.00 pm, 365 days a year, and on the phone or on- line at other times. This is where people can receive support and learn about the range of support options the Foundation provides.
Our counselling service can help local people tackle a wide range of issues affecting their mental health.
Our Belmont Connect service is a place to socialise, meet new people and receive support in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can also join one of our classes or drop-in sessions. These may be art-based, music-themed, or centred around activities such as gardening. We aim to offer a range of weekly activities that cater to different interests and encourage social connection and wellbeing. In the winter our In Your Corner Sunday service offers lunches from midday onwards, and we have year round specialist support sessions such as the Sutton Hearing Voices Group, which help individuals explore different ways to deal with hearing voices.
We have been very successful in securing funding for our work from the local authority and from our local NHS Trust, but we have now reached a point where we want to raise new funds to innovate and expand our services, hence creating this new role of Community Fundraising Manager.

We are looking for a local, ideally Sutton based, dynamic, confident and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team who has a great track record of increasing unrestricted income in the third sector. We are particularly looking for someone who can build great networks in the Sutton area.

EFN is now seeking a new Executive Director at an important moment. Environmental philanthropy has grown significantly, creating a larger and more diverse funding community and real opportunities for greater impact. At the same time, environmental action and those who fund it are operating in an increasingly complex and contested political and public environment. As EFN finalises its next strategy and turns to implementation, there is an opportunity to become more intentional about where it can add greatest value, sharpen its priorities and strengthen how it understands and demonstrates the outcomes and longer-term impact of its work.
The Executive Director will provide strategic and organisational leadership, working closely with the Board and a talented multidisciplinary team (13 staff representing 9.3 FTE) to translate EFN's strategy into focused action. Externally, the Executive Director will be a compelling ambassador and outstanding relationship-builder, able to build trust across a diverse community – from major international foundations to smaller funders, philanthropy advisers, fundraisers and NGO leaders. They will attend daytime and evening events regularly in London and periodically around the country and will bring the environmental literacy and political awareness to understand the changing context in which funders are operating, using EFN's distinctive role as a connector to build relationships, share knowledge and enable collaboration and collective action.
The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership experience and can turn vision into focused delivery. They will be a skilled relationship-builder - able to listen, convene, influence and galvanise a diverse community around a shared purpose - low-ego and collaborative in approach. The successful candidate will have led and developed high-performing teams with an inclusive culture, embedding a genuine commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. You will combine strong organisational, financial and governance skills with an entrepreneurial mindset, and have experience generating income and building sustainable partnerships. Experience within philanthropy, foundations or membership networks is highly valuable but not essential.
Above all, EFN is looking for someone with a genuine passion for environmental and social change, who understands the interconnectedness of today's environmental challenges and is excited by EFN's distinctive role: helping funders and fundraisers learn from one another, strengthening collaboration, and increasing the impact of environmental philanthropy.
