The Role of Director of Property

Effective management of clergy housing and glebe assets is critical to supporting mission and ministry across the Diocese which covers Coventry, Warwickshire and part of Solihull.

As we discern a new vision and strategy, we are seeking a leader who someone who can shape and deliver robust strategies for our clergy housing and glebe portfolios.

They will oversee 156 clergy houses valued at £18.6m and a glebe portfolio valued at c£34m, comprising commercial property, agricultural land, and farming tenancies.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong record of managing a diverse property, commercial and agricultural assets alongside proven leaderships skills. Membership of RICS or CIB is required, and the successful applicant will be professional, approachable and results focused.   

This post reports to the Diocesan Secretary & Chief Executive and is based in Coventry.

You’ll work closely with the Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager to support and grow a portfolio of corporate partners, philanthropists and high value prospects. About the Role

As People and Culture Lead, reporting to the Director of Execution & Planning, you will be responsible for the delivery and development of the People function at Global Canopy. Providing advice and support to the Leadership Team and colleagues across the organisation, you will lead on people and culture initiatives that enable our team to maximise their potential, resulting in greater impact as an organisation.

Responsibilities

Employee life cycle management

• Be responsible for the creation, maintenance, evolution and operation of all HR policies, processes and systems 
• Work closely with the leadership team and internal boards on areas such as recruitment, performance, learning and development, absence, salaries/benefits, job grading and employee engagement
• Ensure the ongoing development of our P&C offering is aligned with our culture

Support & advice to leaders and managers

• Build strong working relationships with senior team leaders in order to support them directly

Salary & Benefits

Salary: £55,000- £60,000 full time equivalent. This role sits within Band C on Global Canopy’s remuneration framework.

Nature of contract: Full time or 0.8 FTE. Permanent. This is a hybrid role working from home and our office in Oxford. There is a requirement to attend the office once a week and for other meetings/work as required.

Holidays: 36 days (including bank/public holidays) for discretionary use across the annual leave year. Option to purchase up to an additional 5 days or equivalent of one week’s leave.

The Role

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be looking after:

• Book-keeping: Posting purchase invoices, keeping track of payments and receipts, making sure costs are allocated correctly and keeping our financial records up to date and squeaky clean.
• VAT: Preparing & submitting our quarterly VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Invoicing & credit control: You’ll take charge of the monthly invoicing process, gathering information from contracts, timesheets and project software to prepare accurate invoices for our clients and encourage them to pay on time. You’ll make sure what we bill reflects the work we’ve actually delivered.
• Payments & payroll: You’ll prepare a weekly payment schedule, making sure our valued freelancers get paid on time and keeping an eye on cashflow. You’ll also bring our monthly payroll preparation and reporting in-house (currently outsourced).
• Reporting & forecasting: You’ll be working closely with the Commercial Director and the Head of Strategy to ensure we’re on track with monthly targets, monitor financial trends, and flag risks or opportunities early - keeping our cash flow, accounts, and forecasts accurate and up to date.

Are you passionate about shaping churches to become more welcoming and accessible to newcomers, strengthening local expressions of sanctuary and helping to embed racial justice principles into ministry and practice?

We’re looking for a Sanctuary & Racial Justice Officer to build inclusive communities by helping parishes across Kent become more welcoming, accessible and culturally aware for refugees, asylum seekers and newcomers.

Reporting to the Strategic Lead for Sanctuary & Racial Justice, you’ll coordinate existing Welcome Hubs in Canterbury and help launch new hubs in Folkestone, Ashford and Dover. Working with churches, volunteers, councils and community partners, you’ll strengthen local sanctuary, deliver racial justice training and develop practical tools that embed justice into everyday ministry.

This is an exciting, hands-on, people-centric role with so much variety — part community development, part volunteer leadership, as well as a mixture of training and partnership working.

We’re looking for someone with experience of supporting vulnerable people and working with volunteers, a good understanding of racial justice in practice and strong organisational and communication skills. You’ll be confident working across communities, able to manage multiple priorities and be motivated by seeing people and parishes flourish.

You’ll need to be a practising Christian, have the right to work in the UK, have a full, clean driving licence and the ability to travel across Kent and comfortable working flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.

The Canterbury Diocesan Board of Finance employs this role on behalf of the Social Justice Network (SJN), a UK-based charity that works to promote social justice, inclusion and support for vulnerable communities. One of SJN’s key initiatives is the Sanctuary & Racial Justice Programme, which works with local authorities, charities and community groups to support and integrate refugee families into their communities. 

The Social Justice Network aims to bring people together. Issues such as low income, debt, lack of skills, poor mental health, forced displacement and isolation are closely interlinked, trapping individuals and communities in cycles of poverty. Our vision is for all churches, in every community, to work together to tackle these issues through action, prayer and giving.

Our Sanctuary & Racial Justice Programmes help individuals and families rebuild their lives after forced displacement. Services include Welcome Hubs, Arts and Wellbeing activities, ESOL classes, employment support and casework. We focus on fostering long-term, meaningful connections with local church communities to restore stability, dignity and belonging. 

It is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder is a practising Christian, committed to the faith. This is essential to support and encourage parishes in living out their faith through social action and to engage authentically with the Diocese’s vision and principles in the Sanctuary & Racial Justice Programme.

We are recruiting for a temporary data & insight officer for an amazing health support charity. You will ensure the organisation manages their supporter data responsibly, facilitate effective use and development of data across the organisation and provide insight and analysis to increase fundraising potential.

The Role
Donorfy Maintenance and Development
Enter supporter data into the database accurately and in a timely manner using Donorfy integrations or import tools
Liaise with internal and external contacts to agree schedules and formats for all regular financial and fundraising imports. Maintain relationships with solution providers and other related parties.
Day to day responsibility for data imports, data validation and data cleaning, to ensure accuracy of supporter information
Data Analysis & Reporting
In collaboration with colleagues across fundraising and marketing, identify areas for regular reporting to add value to existing processes and procedures and ensure these reports are delivered to schedule.
Explore and deliver analytics opportunities that enable the charity to make data-led strategic and tactical decisions

The Candidate
Experience of administering and maintaining a supporter database and developing the database to improve functionality across all areas of fundraising.
Experience extracting data from a CRM based on complex inclusion and exclusion criteria, A good understanding of segmentation and the effective use of supporter data for campaign purposes.
Good knowledge and experience of using a fundraising database for reporting and analysis.
Knowledge of GDPR and Fundraising Code of Practice as they relate to direct marketing and able to appropriately raise areas of non-compliance.
Proven ability to manage relationships with third party suppliers including fundraising platforms and mailing and fulfilment houses.
A good understanding of fundraising and how the effective use of data can drive supporter engagement and income growth.
Excellent lT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and CRM like Donorfy

A note about generative AI use

AHF is seeking to appoint 3.5 FTE new Grants Officers to help deliver our core grants and advisory programme across England. These roles have been created following the recent announcement of significant new investment, which will support the expansion of the Heritage Revival Fund through to March 2029. This investment will enable AHF, in partnership with DCMS and Historic England, to provide grants to hundreds of communities across England, helping them bring neglected historic buildings back into use.

The postholders will be responsible for assessing and managing a caseload of projects within a defined area of England, joining an existing team of Grants Officers. They will advise and guide projects through each stage of the project lifecycle, from early viability through to capital works. They will ensure that grants, where offered, are allocated and monitored in accordance with programme criteria and priorities and will work closely with external partners to support shared objectives.

We are looking for candidates with strong experience in grant-making and project management, who can work collaboratively as part of a remote team and who can demonstrate a clear interest in AHF’s mission to promote the conservation and sustainable re‑use of historic buildings for the benefit of communities across the UK. Applicants must also have strong numerical and written skills and confidence using common IT and office systems.
