Working closely with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees, the postholder will play a central role in delivering our current strategic priorities and shaping the next chapter of Sister System as we develop our future strategy beyond September 2027.
This is a significant opportunity to help shape a growing, values-led organisation founded on co-curation, sisterhood, race & gender equity and the belief that girls and young women should be active architects of the services, systems and opportunities designed for them. With oversight of financial management, people and culture, compliance, risk and organisational infrastructure, the Director of Operations will lead on empowering & ensuring that our internal culture and ways of working reflect the same care, accountability, ambition and empowerment that sit at the heart of our model.
The role will be instrumental in translating our founding vision into strong, sustainable practice, ensuring Sister System is equipped to grow its impact while remaining deeply connected to the voices, experiences and leadership of the girls and young women we exist to serve.
Our Charity:
Sister System exists to ensure that care-affected girls and young women are not defined by the systems they have experienced, but are supported to recognise their strengths, shape their futures and access the same opportunities as their peers.
Our culturally competent, co-curated model works alongside girls and young women aged 13–24 through a long-term journey of support, progression and leadership. Across three interconnected stages, we provide trusted relationships, mentoring, therapeutic support, education, leadership development and pathways into employment. Our approach recognises that meaningful change takes time, consistency and a community that continues to believe in her.
Founded with girls and young women, not simply for them, Sister System places their voices, experiences and ambitions at the heart of everything we do. Through our growing hub-and-spoke model, we are expanding our reach while also influencing the wider systems, services and institutions that shape their lives.
Our ambition is not only to improve individual outcomes, but to demonstrate a better way of working with care-affected girls and young women—one that is relational, culturally responsive, asset-based and built around what they tell us they need to thrive.
As Sister System enters its next phase of growth and prepares to shape its future strategy, we are seeking an experienced and values-led Director of Operations to join our Senior Leadership Team. This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen the people, culture, systems and infrastructure that will enable our organisation—and the girls and young women alongside us—to achieve even more.
Our Vision:
A world where empowered girls reach their potential through equitable opportunities.

People & Culture
Sister System is a founder-led organisation, underpinned by race and gender equity and a culturally competent, trauma-informed approach to working with girls and young women. Tell us about a time you strengthened internal culture of this nature within a team. What resistance did you meet, and what was different a year later?

We are currently seeking a Head of Finance Business Partnering to join our developing and newly repositioned Finance team on a permanent basis.
We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across our organisation. Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and the Global Majority are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single specification. If you’re excited about the role but your experience or qualifications don’t perfectly align, we encourage you to apply anyway. We particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups such as the global majority, LGBTQA+, those from a working-class background, those with a disability and neurodiverse conditions.
The role:
This role is specifically responsible for delivery of appropriate budget reporting that have been the result of future-focussed, strategic and inclusive business partnering relationships across Shakespeare’s Globe between budget holders and the Finance Business Partner team.
This team needs to be led by someone who understands where the budget holders are, understand their fears and concerns, understand the reasons behind their previous decisions, and hold them to account whilst inspiring them to work differently to achieve the financial budgeting. This role will be working specifically within and joining up the interdependencies of how the work impacts other work, other teams and other expenditure. You will need to be able to identify where budget decisions have been made driven by emotions rather than by the business and strategy. The ability to get buy-in is important whilst ensuring objectivity is essential. We do not need an enabler, we need a gentle and collaborative disruptor.
Shakespeare’s Globe:
We celebrate Shakespeare’s transformative impact on the world by conducting a radical theatrical experiment. Inspired and informed by the unique historic playing conditions of two beautiful iconic theatres, our diverse programme of work harnesses the power of performance, cultivates intellectual curiosity and excites learning to make Shakespeare accessible for all.

Refugee Resettlement Support Worker
Help refugee families build safe, stable and hopeful futures
Location:
Hours:
Salary: £26,796.90 per annum
International Care Network (ICN) is a Christian charity walking alongside refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants as they rebuild their lives in the UK. Every day, we see people overcome enormous challenges, develop new skills, build connections and create brighter futures and you could be part of that journey.
We're looking for a compassionate, proactive and organised Refugee Resettlement Support Worker to join our Resettlement Team and support individuals and families arriving through Government resettlement schemes. The role is predominantly focused on families resettled from Afghanistan, although support may be provided to people arriving through other schemes as well.
What you'll be doing
You'll work directly alongside refugee families as they settle into life in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and wider Dorset, helping them navigate unfamiliar systems, access services and become active members of their new communities.
Your work will include:
· Working closely with local authorities, schools, health professionals, volunteers and other partners
· Maintaining accurate records and case notes
· Assisting with the preparation of homes prior to new arrivals moving in
No two days are the same. One day you might be helping a family register with a GP, supporting a parent at a school meeting, or helping someone navigate the benefits system. The next, you could be preparing a property for a newly arrived family or working with local partners to ensure the right support is in place.
Why this role matters
Moving to a new country after experiencing conflict, persecution or displacement can be overwhelming.
This role helps people rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and hope. You'll play a key part in helping families settle safely, access opportunities, understand their new community and begin to thrive.
From supporting a child starting school for the first time, to helping a family access healthcare or secure employment, your work will have a direct and lasting impact.
Who we're looking for
You'll thrive in this role if you:
Experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers, local authorities or resettlement programmes would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Essential requirements
· Full UK driving licence
· Own reliable vehicle
· Confidence driving across BCP and Dorset
· Willingness to obtain and maintain appropriate business insurance
· Eligibility to work in the UK
· Ability to obtain an Enhanced DBS check
Why join ICN?
ICN is a friendly, ambitious and values-driven charity where relationships matter and everyone's contribution is valued.
You'll be joining a passionate team committed to creating communities where refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants can belong, flourish and rebuild their lives. As our services continue to grow, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to people facing significant challenges and uncertainty.
What we offer
ICN is committed to being an inclusive and welcoming employer. As a Disability Confident Employer, we encourage applications from people with disabilities and will make reasonable adjustments where needed. We value diversity and are committed to ensuring everyone is treated fairly and with respect.
We are also deeply committed to safeguarding. All roles working with children and vulnerable adults are subject to the appropriate DBS checks.
Join us
If you're passionate about helping people rebuild their lives and want to be part of a team making a tangible difference every day, we'd love to hear from you.
