About The Role
The Head of Risk Management & Insurance is a senior leadership role with significant influence across the organisation, reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer and working closely with the Executive Board, Board of Trustees and Audit & Risk Committee. You will take ownership of the organisation’s approach to risk, insurance and business continuity, providing the expertise, assurance and constructive challenge needed to support confident decision-making at the highest level. We are looking for an experienced risk and insurance professional who is comfortable operating at a senior level and understands how to make risk management work in a complex organisation. You will bring substantial experience across both risk and insurance, including insurance renewals and senior stakeholder engagement, with the confidence to present to Trustees and Executive colleagues and translate complex issues into clear, useful advice. A professional qualification such as CII or IRM, or equivalent experience, would be expected. You will be commercially minded, pragmatic and credible, with the judgement to know when to advise, when to challenge and when to take action. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer and leading a specialist function, this is a genuine opportunity to shape the organisation’s approach to risk and resilience at a senior level.

In April 2025 – March 2026 the service worked with over 1,500 older adults across a range of issues including money and benefits, health, housing and care. During this time, we assisted older adults of pension age and over to generate over £821,000 of previously unclaimed benefits and make informed choices about their lives.

Responsible to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oxygen
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. This role requires flexible working, including some evenings, occasional Saturdays/Sundays, and weekends when running residentials for young people, plus regular shifts at the Oxygen shop.
Salary: £36,000 – £39,000 per annum, plus pension and life cover and cycle to work scheme.
Location: Kingston upon Thames, South West London, with travel across the Boroughs of Kingston and Richmond

Oxygen is a dynamic youth organisation based in Kingston upon Thames, South West London. Oxygen began as the vision of a group of young people who wanted to reach out to others to demonstrate their faith and meet their needs. In this role you will take the lead on vital Headway UK projects and work alongside colleagues in the wider Services Department to help support our key front-line services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
As Services Coordinator, you will take the lead on three of Headway UK’s vital services. You will be responsible for processing applications to our Emergency Fund, which provides travel and accommodation grants to family members, to support them to be at the bedside of loved ones, when their family member is in hospital, after acquiring a brain injury. Your role will include making recommendations for funding, signposting applicants onto other organisations, keeping detailed records and producing basic financial reports to highlight the Emergency Funds’ position throughout the year.
You will also lead the annual renewal of the Headway UK’s Solicitor’s Directory, ensuring it remains a vital resource for those seeking specialist solicitors with experience in handling brain injury cases.
You will support the delivery of Headway UK’s training programme through effective administrative support, including managing the training mailbox, responding to enquiries, distributing certificates, and liaising with delegates and associate trainers.
You will work alongside colleagues within the wider Services Department to provide exceptional administrative support
On occasion you will also be required to work with the Project Lead for Brain Injury Identity Cards and assist with processing Brain Injury Identity Card applications.
