Why we’re needed

Across the UK, over 4 million children are currently living in poverty, driving increasing demand for essential items and support for families with young children. In 2024 alone, baby banks supported over 219,000 families, a 35% increase on the previous year.

And demand is outpacing supply. Many baby banks are being forced to turn families away.

Baby banks are community-led organisations that provide essential items such as clothing, nappies and equipment to families with young children experiencing poverty or crisis. They operate in diverse ways and often offer support and signposting in addition to the material goods, reflecting the needs of their local communities. Baby banks have grown rapidly over the past decade in response to rising levels of need. However, this growth has largely been organic and fragmented.

BBA exists to support, unite and advocate for baby banks: strengthening collective impact, unlocking national opportunities, and helping a fast-growing and diverse movement operate with greater voice, reach and resilience.

The Baby Bank Alliance (BBA) was co-founded by Purposeful Ventures, Save the Children UK, Little Village and the Bristol Baby Bank Network. Since its founding, BBA has built strong national partnerships, secured significant funding and goods for baby banks, and raised the profile of the sector through national media and corporate partnerships (including with organisations such as IKEA).

Currently incubated by Purposeful Ventures and Save the Children UK, BBA is now moving into its next phase: in Summer 2027 we will become an independent organisation and are on the journey to build the national recognition, scale and sustainability to meet growing need.

BBA continues to work closely with its co-founders and incubating partners, who are expected to remain important collaborators as the organisation transitions to independence.

Job Description

Initially, this role will be employed by Purposeful Ventures. Once BBA becomes independent, the CEO and other members of the BBA team will transfer to direct BBA employment under TUPE. Your terms and conditions of employment will remain unchanged.

What success looks like:

• Income growth: 50% increase in income by 2028, enabling increased funding to member baby banks and investment in BBA’s own capability and resilience.
• Public awareness: increased awareness of baby banks, driving stronger partnerships, broader public support and greater ability to unlock income and influence.

Purpose of the Role

The Chief Executive Officer will lead the Baby Bank Alliance through its transition to independence and into its next phase of growth.

In the role you will:

• To oversee the day-today operations of the safehouse accommodation and services for potential victims of modern slavery in the service and their dependents
• You will work with the Modern Slavery Case Workers to supervise their production of support plans, updating records accurately and reporting key changes. This also includes preparing the client for exit, repatriation and any other resettlement plans.

We are supporting an incredible mental health charity to find a part time (14 hours a week) interim Events Fundraising Officer for a 12 month contract to help deliver exceptional experiences for supporters taking part in exciting fundraising challenges and events.

The role
The Events Fundraising role is responsible for delivering exceptional and memorable experiences for supporters taking on fundraising challenges, ensuring they feel inspired, confident, and supported throughout their journey.
A strong emphasis on supporter engagement sits at the core of the role, with a focus on meeting and exceeding engagement and fundraising KPIs through proactive communication, tailored guidance, and personalised stewardship.
Insight plays a key part in the role, requiring the ability to interpret and analyse performance data to optimise supporter journeys, strengthen campaign effectiveness and maximise income.
Equally important are excellent relationship building skills working closely with supporters to understand their motivations, while collaborating effectively with colleagues across teams to ensure a positive, connected, and productive working environment.

The candidate
* Experience working on events fundraising programmes and delivering memorable fundraising experiences
* Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with supporters
* Track record of monitoring and meeting targets and KPIs
* Project management skills, including ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously
* Ability to use initiative to work alone ensuring work is planned, prioritised, and organised to achieve set deadlines
* Ability to interpret and analyse data and use insight to improve performance
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions, fostering a positive and productive working environment
* Commitment to using communication skills to improve supporter experience through insight-driven communications and personalised engagement strategies

Bounce Back for Kids (BB4K) is a lifeline for children healing from the trauma of domestic abuse. We’re looking for a new Assistant Support Worker to join our team – helping guide children and families on their recovery journey.

Position: Bounce Back for Kids (BB4K) Assistant Support Worker

Location: The role is based in our Reading office with hybrid flexible working arrangements to provide for working at home and in the office. The role requires frequent travel across Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham, South Oxfordshire and Vale of the White Horse to support our service users.

Contract: Permanent part time – 22 hours per week, weekdays. We’re open to discussing working patterns that match both your needs and our service delivery.

Salary range: £15,387 - £16,447 pro-rata per annum (full time equivalent range £25,878 - £27,661 per annum) 

About the role:

The Assistant Support Worker will work across the BB4K service. Following training they will support the service through groupwork, assessments and, subject to development, hold a small case load providing one to one support work.

The objective of the role is to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to enable service users make positive changes in theirs and their children’s lives and reduce the likelihood of further trauma.

About you:

A successful Assistant Support Worker will need personal, professional or academic experience of support work for people experiencing domestic abuse, and an interest in / experience in supporting vulnerable children and families.
