We’re Hertfordshire Mind Network

We deliver essential mental health support in Hertfordshire, providing a diverse range of services from our Wellbeing Centres and other locations across the county. We help individuals experiencing mental ill health to make choices, find their solutions, build resilience and manage their wellbeing. We offer opportunities for individuals to get support to allow them to recover from or live with mental ill health.

About the role

As People Officer, you will provide high-quality, accurate support across the full employee/volunteer lifecycle, while also contributing to employee and volunteering relations, and continuous improvement of our People & Culture services. You will be a role model for our values and a key contributor to a positive team culture

As People Officer you will be part of a team who support a headcount of approximately 250 employees, 200 volunteers and 150 self-employed individuals across Hertfordshire. You will be instrumental in ensuring that all individuals employed or volunteering within Hertfordshire Mind receive advice, guidance in a responsive, knowledgeable, and customer-focused way.

Key Responsibilities include:

Employee Lifecycle

• Deliver a high-quality, confidential and customer-focused People service from recruitment through to leaving.
• Advise line managers on recruitment; selection, interview and safer recruitment
• Provide People advice for queries from the People & Culture team in line with policies, managing and or escalating complex issues as appropriate.

Systems, Data & Reporting

• Produce timely and accurate People management information to assist organisational decision-making. (ihasco, Breathe, Livepay, Charity log, etc)
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the HR information system (Breathe HR), including new profiles, personal data, annual leave and absence reporting.
• Oversee monthly payroll data collation, including hours, absences, and any contractual changes, ensuring timely submission to Payroll.
• Ensure Breathe annual holiday renewal and other system updates are effectively completed and communicated

Employee Relations & Case Management

• Manage employee relations cases, such as sickness absence, conduct, capability, disciplinary, grievance, family focussed leave, flexible working requests.
• Undertake casework, guiding and advising on relevant procedure including gathering evidence and drafting investigation reports, tracking case progress and ensuring communications and actions are completed.
• Provide consistent and fair advice to managers in accordance with policies, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to projects such as employee engagement initiatives, policy updates, wellbeing programmes, EDIE (VIBE, Voice, Inclusion, Belonging, Engagement) and system improvements.
• Support quality assurance processes in line with National Mind policies and ISO9001 standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve people processes, recommending and implementing enhancements under the guidance of the People & Culture Director

General Responsibilities

• To support any member of the People and Culture team and to cover team absence as required.
• Note taking for meetings as required
• Promote Hertfordshire Mind services by attending events, campaigns, and open days to raise awareness of mental health.
• Uphold Hertfordshire Mind policies and procedures, including the Equalities Statement.
• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

About the role

Joining our dedicated team of nurses, you’ll support our helpline and Ask Our Nurses (AON).

The nursing team includes an associate director, senior clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurse specialists, and sessional nurses and trained helpline staff.

You’ll act as a resource for clients, healthcare professionals and the wider public on the subject of breast health and breast cancer. This includes providing information and support to clients though our national helpline, by email and social media.

The helpline service is run throughout the week, and on Saturday mornings (the latter is optional, other than training days). The helpline hours are 8:45am to 4.00pm. Team training usually occurs twice a year on Saturdays. You’ll be supported by a senior clinical nurse specialist and have regular clinical supervision. We’re looking for candidates who are able to work at least one day (6.25 hours) per week.

Finance Manager (Flexible Working – Part-time Welcome)

Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) is a respected UK charity working to reduce undernutrition globally. We connect technical experts, build evidence and improve knowledge to strengthen nutrition policy and programming, particularly in low- and middle-income countries and fragile and conflict-affected settings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join ENN at an important stage in its development. The Finance Manager will work closely with the CEO, Management Team and Board of Trustees, providing strategic financial insight, overseeing financial governance and supporting effective decision-making across the organisation.

About the role

The Finance Manager will be responsible for:

• Developing and delivering ENN’s finance strategy in support of its five-year organisational goals.
• Providing financial insight, analysis and risk management advice to the Management Team and Board of Trustees.
• Leading budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Overseeing core finance operations, including multi-currency accounting, payroll, cash flow and financial controls.

• Has experience managing grant-funded projects, including allocation of staff costs across funds.
• Has experience working with funders, foundations, NGOs or institutional donors.

REDRESS is an international human rights organisation based in London and The Hague that pursues legal claims on behalf of survivors of torture in the UK and around the world to obtain justice and reparation for violations against their human rights. Position Profile

The main responsibilities of the role are:

UK Advocacy. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders relevant to REDRESS’ UK policy objectives, including government departments, parliamentarians, parliamentary committees, NGOs and academics. Draft written materials and briefing papers for policymakers, and respond to government enquiries and consultations, and undertake direct advocacy.

Sanctions Advocacy and APPG. Deliver REDRESS’s UK advocacy on Magnitsky sanctions and asset recovery for reparation. This includes supporting REDRESS’s role as secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Magnitsky Sanctions and Reparation and conducting advocacy to key stakeholders: the FCDO, Treasury, Home Office, parliamentarians and others.

Survivor Advisory Group. Work collaboratively with the Survivor Advisory Group to support our work with survivors and survivor communities on our policy advocacy campaigns.

Upholding the Absolute Prohibition of Torture. Support and deliver our policy advocacy work in the UK relating to other issues, such as an effective system for universal jurisdiction prosecutions, responding to threats to the absolute prohibition of torture, and responses to UK torture overseas. Conduct advocacy work related to the legal right to consular assistance and State hostage-taking.

Project Management. Manage and deliver specific project activities which include administrative tasks, budget management, planning and participating in the delivery of meetings and events, as well as other tasks related to project management.

Teamwork/Collaboration. Work collaboratively with REDRESS team members and external stakeholders, always exercising professional integrity. Supervise fellows and interns.

Representing REDRESS. Contribute to the wider needs of the organisation, including communicating REDRESS’ work to a wide array of audiences.

The position is also expected to carry out such further duties as may reasonably be required from time to time by REDRESS.  

Person Specification

Essential Competencies

The successful candidate will need to have the following essential competencies:

· At least three years relevant post-qualification professional experience. 

· Strong knowledge of how the UK Parliament and government works.

· Undergraduate degree specialised in international law, human rights, politics, international relations, or a related field.

· A solid understanding of international human rights policy issues.

· Demonstrated proficiency in policy analysis and policy writing and editing; demonstrated competence in writing for a broader public audience. 

· Experience at delivering projects and managing project budgets.

· Experience working with victims of human rights violations, survivor groups, or grassroots campaigns.

· Experience working with NGOs and other stakeholders.

· Experience in public speaking to a variety of audiences.

· Experience managing interns and volunteers.

· Fluency in written and oral English.

· Literacy in social media in a professional environment (primarily Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook).

· Willing to undertake travel within the UK. 

· An ability to work with a range of political parties.

Terms

Reporting. The position will report to a Senior Legal Advisor.

Hours. This is a part-time position at 21 hours a week. Evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.

Location. The position is based at the REDRESS office in London.

Flexible Working. REDRESS is an “in-person” organisation and we value teamwork, but we have a flexible working policy which allows for working from home. This role is currently required to be in the office one-two days a week.

Duration. The contract is for a fixed term of 12 months (maternity cover).

Start date. The position would start in September 2026.

Probation. There is a four-month probationary period. 

Pension. REDRESS offers a pension contribution of 10% of salary.

Holiday.  There are 25 days of holiday per year, in addition to UK public holidays. The office is also closed between Christmas and New Year.

Status. The candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor a UK immigration process for this role.

Interview process. We expect to do two rounds of interviews. We may ask candidates to complete a brief written test as part of the process but will provide information on that nearer the time.

· First round Interviews will take place on 7 August and will be on-line.

· Final round interview will take place on 13 August and will be in-person at our office in London.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to join as Office Manager and Executive Assistant. You will be the main point of contact for our Senior Management Team, Trustee Board and Advisory Panel members and have the inside track on how the charity plans and implements both its strategic growth and its day-to-day operations. The role at a glance

Job purpose

The Community Network Manager will establish and lead PLP's Community Knowledge Exchange — a new network bringing together people and organisations with lived experience of marginalisation, frontline partners, lawyers, researchers and others to share knowledge and shape fairer systems.

At the heart of the role is a commitment to centring lived experience in PLP's work in ways that are ethical, equitable and non-extractive. The post holder will translate community insight into policy influence, strategic litigation and advocacy, while also strengthening PLP's internal capacity to engage in co-production and lived experience partnership working effectively.

They will develop and help to steward PLP's relationship with The National Lottery Community Fund and engage with the wider cohort of funded organisations, identifying opportunities for collaboration and collective endeavour. Internally, they will act as a champion and adviser, developing tools, guidance and approaches that help colleagues across PLP engage meaningfully with communities and frontline partners.

Key relationships

Reports to the Communications & Engagement Director, works closely with the wider Communications & Engagement team and is a member of the SMT1. Collaborates across PLP with colleagues including from events, public affairs, research and casework teams and advise the Senior Leadership Team. Externally, represents PLP within the Community Knowledge Exchange network and The National Lottery Community Fund cohort, and facilitates and maintains relationships with community partners, frontline organisations and other stakeholders relevant to PLP's strategic priorities.

Network development and coordination

• Establish, coordinate and grow the Community Knowledge Exchange – a network of people and organisations with lived and living experience of marginalisation, working with colleagues and frontline partners such as advice organisations and campaign groups.

• Develop peer resource hubs and strong feedback loops between community insight and organisational delivery.

• Work with the events team (which is part of the Communications & Engagement team) to develop and deliver convenings, meetings and trainings for the Community Knowledge Exchange and feed into PLP’s overall programme of events.
• Work with research and public affairs colleagues to support the co-production of research, policy and influencing work.
• Work with strategic communications colleagues to support and enable people with lived experience to share their stories publicly in ways that are ethical, empowering and on their own terms.
• Coordinate internal staff contributions to network delivery.

Funder relationship and programme development

• Play a lead role in developing PLP's relationship with The National Lottery Community Fund, acting as the primary point of contact for the development of the programme and support regular, high-quality communication and reporting.
• Represent PLP within the wider cohort of funded organisations, building relationships and identifying opportunities for collaboration, joint working and shared learning.
• Ensure that senior colleagues and the wider staff team are informed of developments in the programme, including emerging opportunities, funder priorities and cohort-wide initiatives.
• Shape the development of KPIs, in collaboration with others, and lead on tracking and reporting for PLP and sharing learnings internally and externally
• Contribute to and coordinate PLP's input into any collective communications, advocacy or other joint work across the cohort.

Building capacity for lived experience partnership

• Advise colleagues on approaches to co-production and lived experience partnership working that are ethical, equitable and non-extractive.

• Support teams across PLP to engage meaningfully with communities and frontline partners in their work.
• Act as an internal champion for centring lived experience across PLP's work, including casework, research, public affairs, strategic comms and events.

Management responsibilities and organisational contribution

• Contribute proactively as part of SMT to PLP’s strategy and goals.
• Role-model and embed PLP’s values and culture framework in day-to-day leadership and team development.
• Assist with management of the Communications & Engagement team e.g providing input on planning, chairing team meetings as appropriate, and assisting with recruitment, induction and training as required.
• Draw on network insight to contribute to organisational planning and strategy, including advising on emerging trends, risks and opportunities relevant to PLP’s priorities.

General duties

• Contribute to PLP’s general development, including improvement of systems, processes and ways of working.

Connect to Work is a personalised Supported Employment programme that pairs eligible individuals with dedicated Employment Advisors.

About the Role

We are seeking four highly motivated, organised and compassionate Employment Advisors, to deliver the countywide Connect To Work programme in our new Employment workstream. In this highly rewarding role, you will be responsible supporting individuals experiencing mental health problems, and those facing complex barriers, to secure and sustain meaningful paid employment.

This position is part of the Connect to Work programme — a voluntary Supported Employment initiative funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. You will deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, offering tailored advice and guidance to individuals, while also building strong partnerships with local employers to create opportunities aligned with individuals’ skills and aspirations.

As an Employment Advisor you will deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model to meet individuals regularly to understand an individual’s skills, strengths and goals; developing clear action plans; provide practical support; and co-create personalised action plans.

The programme provides structured, 1:1 and group based person centred support to build confidence, motivation and resilience, to help individuals work towards clear, work related goals.

Managing Stakeholder and Community Engagement

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of River Action’s stakeholder and community engagement programme.

• Ensure effective delivery and continuous development of the River Rescue Kit and Community Toolkit as key resources supporting grassroots campaigners and community groups.

• Oversee catchment-based engagement strategies that strengthen community-led action, advocacy and campaigning.

• Work closely with the Senior Engagement Coordinator to identify opportunities to expand and strengthen River Action’s network of stakeholder and community groups, campaigners and partners.

• Ensure insights, evidence and priorities emerging from stakeholders and local communities to inform River Action’s public affairs, policy, legal and campaigning work.

• Monitor the effectiveness and impact of community engagement activities and ensure learning is shared across the organisation.

• Support the development of engagement frameworks, systems and processes that enable effective community mobilisation at scale.

Public Affairs and External Influence

• Support the delivery of River Action’s Public Affairs strategy.

• Build relationships with parliamentarians, political advisers, local authority leaders and relevant government officials.

• Support engagement with regulators including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Ofwat and other relevant bodies.

• Represent River Action in external forums, roundtables, conferences and stakeholder meetings.

• Coordinate stakeholder engagement around key campaigns, policy initiatives and legal actions.

Strategic Partnerships

• Develop partnerships with environmental NGOs, think tanks, academic institutions, financiers and businesses.

• Identify opportunities for joint initiatives, campaigns and advocacy activity.

• Strengthen River Action’s position within the wider environmental and public policy landscape.

• Convene strategic partnerships to support policy and campaigning objectives.

Organisational Leadership

• Work closely with the Head of Public Affairs to support delivery of organisational objectives.

• Provide strategic direction, support and oversight to the Senior Engagement Coordinator, ensuring community engagement activity aligns with organisational priorities and objectives.

• Provide stakeholder intelligence and strategic advice to senior leadership.

• Contribute to organisational planning and public affairs priorities.

• Support cross-team working between Public Affairs, Campaigns, Communications, Legal and Fundraising.

• Ensure strong integration between River Action’s community engagement, public affairs, campaigns, communications and legal work.

Communications and Representation

• Act as an ambassador for River Action externally.

• Support media opportunities through stakeholder engagement and relationship building.

• Prepare briefings, stakeholder reports and engagement plans.

• Help identify influential voices and advocates who can amplify River Action’s work.

Monitoring and Reporting

• Maintain stakeholder engagement plans and CRM records.

• Monitor engagement outcomes and report against agreed KPIs.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement activity and recommend improvements.

• Significant experience in stakeholder engagement, public affairs, external affairs, partnerships or advocacy.

Written submission

The Government is expected to bring forward a Clean Water Bill in Parliament. River Action wants to influence the Bill to secure stronger protections for rivers, hold polluters to account, and deliver measurable improvements in river health.

In no more than 750 words, set out how you would approach this challenge. Your response should explain:

• Which stakeholders you would prioritise engaging with, and why.

• How you would use partnerships, community groups and grassroots evidence to support your objectives.

• How you would measure the success of your approach.

• One significant challenge or risk, and how you would address it.

We are interested in your ability to think strategically, prioritise effectively, and demonstrate how engagement can help deliver policy and environmental change.
