Summary of Position

We are looking for an enthusiastic fundraiser to join our small, friendly team in a part-time role.

Spires was established as a response to homelessness in the late 1980s. Spires has developed into an organization that provides a range of services, including day centre style drop-ins for homeless people, a Women’s drop in, a Refugee drop in and outreach targeted at supporting Women who are sex working. Our core mission is to support homeless people into housing and to assist those who have been homeless in maintaining their accommodation.

Part 1:  The Role

The Women’s Service Coordinator will manage Spires’ Women’s service offer. The Women’s Service offer comprises of:

• Spires-Street Link, which is a dedicated nighttime outreach service to support women who are involved in street-based sex working. This includes follow up work, casework, and multi-agency working.
• Centre based support for women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This also includes casework and supporting Spires’ Housing and Homelessness team.

Part 2: Key duties and responsibilities

• Manage a small team of support workers and a team of dedicated volunteers.
• Oversee the delivery of effective assessment and allocation for clients.
• Oversee the effectiveness of casework across the Women’s Service.
• Directly support a small caseload of clients.
• Manage the team’s rota to ensure sufficient coverage across activities.
• Represent Spires to external organisations, developing and maintaining good working relationships with other professionals, community organisations, and statutory agencies.
• Manage the teams’ outcomes and data to produce reports for funders and stakeholders.
• Support Spires’ fundraising manager in making applications where required.

Part 3: Person specification

Essential experience: 

• Experience of working with women with complex support needs (including substance addiction, mental health needs, domestic violence, no recourse to public funds and sex working) .
• Experience of managing people within a relevant sector.
• Experience of challenging appropriately and maintaining clear and appropriate boundaries

Part 4: Summary of terms and conditions of service 

Probation: This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Notice: This post is subject to one week’s notice during the probationary period and a six-week notice period thereafter. 

Annual leave: The annual leave entitlement is 35 days per year pro rata, made up of eight bank and public holidays and 27 days annual leave. The 27 days annual leave is normally split between 24 ‘bookable’ days and three closure days that fall between Christmas and the New Year. Although the centre is closed between Christmas and the New Year, we open on Christmas Day for clients. Staff are encouraged to work on Christmas Day if available. Double time off in lieu is offered in return.

Pension: The Spires Centre operates an Opt-out group pension arrangement and currently contributes 5% of annual salary for those who qualify. Personal contributions are currently 3%.

Lighthouse is delivered through a shared model, with two Managers working together to ensure the programme remains a safe, consistent, and dignified space for people experiencing homelessness.

About the role

This is a dynamic, strategic role and as Head of Therapeutic Services, you will exercise person-centred clinical responsibility for Woman’s Trust (WT), counselling, groupwork and other therapeutic services.

About the Role

Headway East London is looking for a compassionate and motivated Community Support Worker to support adults living with brain injury across our 13 London borough catchment area. You will support members in their own homes and local communities. This is a varied, people-focused role where you will work one to one in the community, helping individuals live with greater independence, confidence and choice.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct support sessions to a regular caseload of members in the community as a lone worker with remote office assistance.
2. You will work to maximise and maintain their autonomy and independence in their home environment or within the local community.
3. You will work collaboratively with the member to plan, organise and implement daily activities by developing daily and weekly structure and wellbeing plans.
4. You will be responsible for being the first responder, with remote manager support, in the event of any incidents, safeguarding issues or behaviour that challenges during support sessions.
5. Accompany and support members to appointments with health and statutory care providers and provide accurate notes for future reference.
6. Accompany and support members to access social, leisure, educational and vocational activities in the community.
7. Maintain a maximum income for members through completing benefit and grant entitlement and assist with financial budgeting.
8. Provide appropriate and relevant advice, information and advocacy to members and their families. Where appropriate liaise with other professionals and statutory and non-statutory organisations to make referrals or signpost to appropriate support services.
9. Maintain accurate and factual monitoring notes on our online database and report any incidents.
10. Conduct and monitor specific therapy / support / rehabilitation and risk management plans in accordance with case managers, therapists and other cprofessionals as required.

Refugee Action Kingston (RAK) is seeking an experienced and compassionate ESOL Coordinator to support our Community Hub Project. You will coordinate ESOL volunteers and resources, manage referrals and assessments to place users in classes, and administer registrations using RAK systems. Working closely with the Community Hub Manager, you will help deliver a blended ESOL programme that supports community integration, confidence and language development for refugees and people seeking asylum.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled line manager with experience in general welfare advice to join Sufra NW London. In this highly rewarding role, you will oversee the delivery of services that can measurably change lives by providing quality advice and support to those most in need. 

You will manage our team of advice staff and volunteers to deliver high quality advice, information and welfare support to guests on a range of topics including benefits, housing, debt and immigration issues. An additional focus will be on establishing clear pathways for referring guests to external services, and managing volunteers to triage, signpost and refer guests to other forms of welfare support.

The advice team consists of paid staff and support volunteers.  This year will be dedicated to consolidation of the service, ensuring that we are fulfilling our core mission to the highest standards.  We are also hoping to launch our immigration advice service, providing guests with a first point of contact for their immigration needs and smooth referral pathways to specialist advice.  Finally, our OpenARMs programme will be launching workshops for our refugee and asylum-seeker communities. 

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, especially Head of Advice at Sufra to support the implementation of new initiatives, and the expansion of our information and advice services to enhance our efficiency and impact.

The post holder will be a highly articulate and proactive individual with good welfare advice knowledge, 3+ years delivery experience in managing a charity team, strong service management skills, as well as experience managing staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have up-to-date knowledge of the welfare system, immigration and safeguarding protocols. They must also have demonstrable experience using a case management system, adhering to advice standards and be able to manage a diverse workload and work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

Advice Services

• Manage the advice service by overseeing and supporting volunteers and advice staff at our Community Wellbeing Service and Foodbank including setting objectives, managing performance and providing feedback during supervisions.
• Hold a small case load of advice guests, supporting them to achieve their aims
• Maintain a high quality service by ensuring that the advice team and volunteers are working to agreed standards and delivering against realistic grant agreements from funders.
• Use our case management software to report on cases and outcomes to support funding applications and remain compliant with funding needs.

Service Development

• Work with the Senior Leadership Team to develop, expand and improve Sufra’s information and advice services in alignment with our 2030 strategy.
• Carry out ongoing review of existing service delivery procedures.
• Undertake quality assurance including case checking and quality of advice audit.
• Identify the training needs of advice staff and volunteers through support, mentoring and supervisions.
• Ensure colleagues and relevant stakeholders are informed of changing legislation and social policy updates.

Volunteer Management

Budgets, Monitoring & Evaluation

• Support the Senior Leadership Team in setting service budgets, updating policies, and monitoring spending in line with reporting and budgetary requirements.
• Ensure appropriate systems are maintained for recording statistics and outcomes.
• Provide regular and timely monitoring reports on service outputs, outcomes and expenditure.
• Collect regular feedback and conduct surveys from relevant stakeholders to inform ongoing improvements to the Advice Service.
• Contribute to strategic development by setting action plans in line with agreed Business Plans and keeping teams accountable to Action Plan goals.

Other

• Ensure the advice team are working in adherence to organisational policies and procedures.

Want to work with multiple award-winning charity, FoodCycle? As Regional Manager you will represent, manage and co-ordinate your allocated regional Projects. Our Projects are spaces where volunteers are empowered to run community meals using surplus food.​

You will manage local relationships with venues, community partners, supermarkets and volunteer recruitment channels to enable this to happen. As an excellent communicator, you will manage the volunteers at each Project ensuring they are trained, supported and on-message with FoodCycle strategy, ensuring that volunteers are confident enough to self-organise and make a success of their Projects.​

You will have experience of programme planning, delivery and development including community led/owned programmes. You will have experience of building relationships with a range of stakeholders and be passionate about food and cooking.​

There will be frequent travel to our projects in Yorkshire and The Humber, with some evening and weekend work needed to cover our projects. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this rewarding role.​
