Westway Trust is seeking a highly experienced and professional Senior HR Manager to join our vibrant, friendly team of three on a 2-year fixed-term contract to deliver a strong, credible, and reliable service across all aspects of our HR function in support of the range of activities undertaken by the organisation. The post will particularly suit someone with a significant charity HR background who is looking to gain the further experience necessary to equip them for making the step up to Head of HR roles.  Attention to detail, adherence to deadlines and a proactive flexible approach to the work are all pre-requisites for the role.

Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:

• Provide high quality support to the Head of Governance and HR on aspects of the Trust’s HR function and on the provision of accurate, timely and relevant updates and reports as required by the Executive Team.
• Ensure effective up-to-date HR policies and relevant other policies that meet the needs of the Trust and its staff are in place, reviewing them on an agreed schedule in line with the Trust’s Policy Matrix and updating as required. Identify any gaps in the suite of HR policies and develop new policies to fill that gap. Overall maintenance of the Policy Matrix.
• Lead on the Trust’s EDI policy, ensuring that the policy is implemented in a practical way throughout the organisation and in all our activities. Ensure the HR-related recommendations of the Tutu Foundation review into institutional racism at the Trust are progressed to a conclusion.
• Support the Head of Governance and HR in delivering the actions that support preparations for the next Investors in People (IiP) external assessment in late 2024. Ensure the Trust’s HR policies and practices remain consistent with the IiP standard.
• Work proactively with the HR Business Partner on the running of staff recruitment and selection processes, including sitting as the HR representative on the interview panel for more senior roles.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes

• Substantial experience of working in HR operations and of developing and reviewing appropriate HR policies and procedures in a charity or similar setting.
• Sound understanding of employment law and a willingness to keep up-to-date with relevant legislative changes.
• A passion for EDI and an ability to be creative and engaging in communications around this subject.
• Strong organisational skills and an understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including evidence of ability to adapt to a variety of cultural settings.
• A team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to earn quickly the trust and confidence of staff and other stakeholders.

• A good knowledge/understanding of the local area and community or demonstrable willingness to learn quickly.

Role: Community and Participation Manager

New Art Exchange (NAE) is a pioneering creative space in Hyson Green, Nottingham. We’re the UK’s largest gallery dedicated to contemporary visual arts from the Global Ethnic Majority. We set out to reshape the contemporary art narrative by championing diversity and inclusivity and by providing a platform for underrepresented voices in the art world. 

Purpose of the role

The Community and Participation Manager will be a key member of NAE’s Neighbourhood’s team, responsible for ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of a wide range of community projects and events that engage and inspire our local communities (predominantly from the Global Ethnic Majority). Based from within NAE’s purpose built creative space, in the heart of one of Nottingham’s most diverse areas - Hyson Green, the post holder will work with local community partners, schools and other key stakeholders to ensure the community programme is representative of the diverse voices from our local communities and has their involvement through all that we do.

Main duties of the role

With strategic oversight from the Head of Neighbourhood develop and deliver a diverse range of activity with and for the community including (but not limited to) workshops, festivals, conferences, and functions, ensuring they are aligned with NAE’s overall vision, goals and budget.

Supporting the Head of Neighbourhoods to identify and secure external funding opportunities, sponsorships, and partnerships to support the events when required.

Act as lead contact with key stakeholders, including community groups, schools, partners, citizen panels, artists, vendors, and local authorities, to ensure smooth collaboration and communication.

Support the Comms team to develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to raise awareness of projects and events with a focus on attracting diverse audiences.

Manage budgets and financial reporting for community projects, ensuring that expenses are within budget and that financial records are accurate and up to date. In line with the overarching Neighbourhoods strategy, develop project plans, budgets, and timelines and maintain accurate records.

Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and obtain necessary permits and licenses.

Lead project staff (including contracting and acting as project manager and day to day contact for them) which will consist of freelancers, contractors, and volunteers.

Track progress, address issues, and produce reports and evaluations for internal and external stakeholders, including NAE’s Senior Management Team and local community leaders.

Context and Responsibilities within this role:

Cook for Good is about to move into their third year of operating. They have grown quickly from a start up to a high profile social enterprise. Initially most of their corporate sales and partnership revenue was generated organically, driven by their founders' networks. In this role you will work closely with C4G's Corporate Partnership Manager and Events Director to support all in-bound sales enquiries for their corporate team building events and convert to bookings.

* You will support the business development team in dealing with enquiries from leads they generate as well as liaising with existing clients.
* You will also support the Events team to co-ordinate the booking of events and liaising with corporate clients in both the lead in and follow up to an event.
* Organise and occasionally host show rounds for prospective clients.

4. Finance and other

About the position

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional with a strong belief in the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion in helping to build high performing teams within the international anti-slavery sector. You will be leading a small HR team and will be responsible for developing and delivering an effective HR strategy across the global organisation. The role will report to the Managing Director, Finance and Administration.

This role will suit candidates with previous experience of leading an HR function, particularly those with experience working in a global organisation and / or within a charity and a personal passion for and commitment to social justice missions. You will be based in the Freedom Fund’s central London office and be working to support staff across the UK, the US, Brazil, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Kenya, Nepal, Liberia, Nigeria, Myanmar and Indonesia – and other countries as and when our programmatic footprint grows further.  The Freedom Fund currently has 47 staff based in the London office and 36 staff in our other global locations. Outside of the UK, our biggest teams are based in the US (11), Ethiopia (8) and Brazil (6).

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an HR strategy in collaboration with SLT that supports the organisation to deliver on its overall strategy as well as its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion vision and action plan.

• Monitor staff engagement and retention (including through an annual staff survey) and work with managers to continuously improve the Freedom Fund as a place to work.

• Provide HR analytics and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team and Board.

• Provide high quality and timely HR advice and support to managers and staff globally.

• Keep up to date with employment legislation and best practice in the countries where Freedom Fund operates

• Oversee global recruitment, ensuring fair, safe and compliant recruitment practices that particularly encourages and supports applicants with lived experience of human trafficking and/or forced labour.

• Oversee global Employee Assistance Plans and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation

About the Mint House

Our aim at the Mint House is that restorative justice and practice become embedded within organisations and communities, being seen as a natural part of 'how we do things' across a range of settings.  We work towards this through events and communications designed to introduce restorative justice and practice to new audiences and share learning on effective practice, by providing training and support, through network building, thought leadership and practical projects. Among examples:

• helped by the appointment of a part-time communications officer in 2021 we now have a 500+ strong network of event participants and supporters from across sectors and extending round the globe (though with a sizeable Oxfordshire contingent).
• since 2021 we have trained over 200 managers and staff from Oxfordshire County Council's children's workforce (social workers, family support workers etc) in restorative practice, backing up training with reflective practice sessions and practical resources.  More recently, we have been providing similar training and support for colleagues in forensic mental health settings. We are an accredited training provider with the Restorative Justice Council.
• many of our events have a network-building dimension. We also specifically facilitate a network of UK-based colleagues working to create restorative communities and cities, and a network of communications specialists working in our field.
• with support from the Westhill Endowment, we recently hosted two sets of research and practice dialogues, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together to explore what’s involved in embedding restorative practice in organisations and communities.
• we are currently working with partners from across Oxford to pilot use of restorative approaches to reduce evictions of former rough sleepers from supported accommodation.

Training & Projects Officer role

Context

In 2023 we drew up a new strategy and business plan. This exercise underlined that the transformational change we want to see depends on us collaborating with many different organisations and communities, exploring with them what it means to be restorative in their context then working with them to make and learn from the changes needed.

Through our work so far we have encountered many potential collaboration partners.  Working alongside our part-time Communications and Events Officer your role as Training and Projects Officer will be to help us implement existing partnership projects and develop new ones. We have funding available to support this post for 12 months initially but aim to make the role sustainable as new projects come onstream.

We expect the role to be home based, but with a need to visit clients/project partners and attend meetings/events in Oxford or the surrounding area on a regular basis.  Wider travel to partner events/meetings may also be required from time to time.

Purpose

Support the delivery and further development of ‘on the ground' initiatives demonstrating the difference restorative justice and practice can make to building healthy relationships and promoting peace and reconciliation. As part of this, orchestrate delivery of training and support contracts.

Key responsibilities

a. Manage implementation of existing ‘on the ground’ projects, notably including our Matilda House trailblazer housing project.

b. Co-ordinate delivery of training and support, liaising with clients to understand delivery requirements and with in-house and associate trainers to confirm their availability.

c. Support the team of associate trainers, ensuring they are well prepared and supported, with access to continuing development and opportunities for reflective practice.

d. Ensure the quality of training, including ensuring the continuing development of materials and that training is tailored to the delivery setting. 

e. Work with trustees to shape and introduce new projects, including liaising with partners, drawing up project plans and budgets and laying the groundwork for new projects as they come onstream.  As part of this, and as time allows, input into funding applications

f. Monitor project and training delivery and spend, capturing learning and reporting as required to trustees and external funders.

g. Work closely with the Communications and Events Officer, supporting completion of key tasks as required.

h. Other duties as assigned by trustees.

This is a key new role in the Grants, Community and Corporate Partnerships Unit to help maximise corporate and community partnership opportunities and help scale up this growing income stream for future years.  This locally based role will support current partnerships (including golf clubs, churches, schools and local corporates) as well as scoping new opportunities across Surrey. Representing Eikon in person at events, meetings, exhibitions as well event coordination are important components of this the role. We are a diverse, highly experienced team who share a passion to support the wellbeing and mental health of young people across Surrey.

Responsibilities

1. Account Management

• Day to day/ support account management of select corporate and community partnerships. This will be agreed with their manager per partnership (who will retain leadership), but could include:
  • General stewardship including thanking and recording information on our CRM database (Donorfy) and shared drives.
  • Representing the unit at local level events and/ or delivering marketing materials to community partners.
  • Regular communication including calls, meetings and sharing reports, presentations and other updates
• Being key relationship holder for select local corporate partnerships and community groups such as primary schools, churches, supermarkets, amateur sports clubs
• Database admin including checking opportunity pipelines and reporting requirements 
• Supporting individuals from companies or community groups to fundraise for us

2. Income generation

• Mapping (desktop research) of corporate and community opportunities across Surrey to support unit’s business development plans
• Management of a pipeline of golf clubs, making timely approaches to help the unit secure new captains’ charities
• Support role on larger corporate and community partnership pitches. 

3. Event support

• Event management and/ or support for events across the unit. 
• Represent Eikon at local external events such as conferences, expos, fetes and fairs.
• Actively seeking prize donations for auctions, raffles and events
• Attending community led fundraising events such as quizzes or mufti days run by corporate & community organisations.

4. Marketing, Communications and relationships

• Support and liaise with the Marketing and Communications team to deliver relevant and effective content and materials as well as maximising social media opportunities for corporate and community groups
• Coordinate bespoke mass communications to corporate and community groups e.g. appeals, reports and updates.

5. Strategy

• Contribute to Development Team strategies, annual plans and budgets

6. Staff management

• Take part in regular supervision and team meetings.

7. Quality and standards

• Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and deliver within Eikon’s safeguarding policies and practices when taking part in fundraising activities.
• Ensure all activities follow the relevant Fundraising Codes of Practice and Eikon’s Ethical Fundraising Policy.
• Prepare relevant Partnership Agreements and Commercial Participator Agreements.
• Carry out risk assessments for all activities for which you are responsible.
• Carry out required due diligence on new corporate opportunities and ensure the company’s values do not conflict with the values or ethical policy of the charity.

8. Finance and resources.

• Operate within organisational approved budgets, policies and procedures.

9. Other responsibilities

Your role

Day to day you will be working closely with the Head of Policy, Research and Public Affairs to manage the strategic development of StepChange Debt Charity’s public affairs activity establishing and managing our relationships with key external stakeholders.

You will lead on influencing government, parliamentarians, and other key stakeholders. To affect with our policy, research, and media teams you will deliver influencing work that makes a compelling case for policy and practise change.

Responsible for managing and oversee planning and delivery of events, including party conference engagement, and thought leadership programs.

You will ensure effective monitoring of developments in Parliament, policy, and legislation, providing strategic advice and insight on emerging threats and opportunities.

About You

• Previous experience working in a public affairs team, campaigns or other influencing roles with a keen understanding of parliamentary processes and a knack for building relationships.
• An understanding of UK parliament and government and demonstrable experience navigating the world of public affairs.
• Commitment to political impartiality and regulatory compliance.

Introduction to the role

Venue & Tech Coordinator. You will be instrumental in providing venue management, tech and AV support for a variety of events, ranging from webinars to live streamed in-person concerts, talks and conferences. This aspect of the role will necessitate availability outside of standard business hours, ensuring our events run smoothly and effectively. Your skills will extend to operating sound desks, lighting setups, and demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving in a live event context.

Responsibilities

As the Venue and Tech Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

• Tech support for events: Providing technical support for webinars and in-person events, including sound and lighting setup and safe storage, and ensuring a seamless experience for participants. This will involve working outside of regular business hours on occasion.

• Contributing to venue management: A key member of the venue hire business, including client tech support, trouble-shooting, setup, clear-up and ongoing care of the venue, and viewings.

• Administrative support as needed by the charity: this aspect of the role may develop over time, responding to the needs of the charity and the interests and talents of the successful applicant.

• You have audio technology experience and understanding (mixing desks, connector types and uses, signal flow and gain staging etc)

• You are a strong logical thinker and love solving complex problems

• You enjoy team collaboration and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to coordinate and deliver technical aspects of events
