We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Student Support Officer to support in the areas of disability and inclusion for our Initial Teacher Education programmes and on behalf of our partners for the High Performance Initial Teacher Training programme.
About the role
This is an important new role reporting to the Student Support Lead (Disability and Inclusion). The post-holder will provide support and advice to trainees with a wide range of needs, including disabilities such as SpLD, autism and ADHD, as well as mental health conditions. They will write Reasonable Adjustment Plans (RAPs), work with partners to ensure agreed support is implemented effectively, escalate cases where appropriate, and contribute insight to help strengthen student support, inclusion and wellbeing practice across NIoT. Above all, the role is focused on enabling an outstanding student experience.

Essential Criteria:
Experience of delivering one-to-one support to a range of learners with disabilities and other additional needs, including writing support plans.
A strong understanding of the Equality Act (2010) and other relevant legislation related to disability rights and accommodations.
Familiarity with Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) and Access to Work
Excellent understanding of reasonable adjustments and the creation of tailored plans, including knowledge of adjustments to assessments, learning and teaching.
Educated to degree level and/or significant relevant experience.
Ability to provide sensitive and empathetic support to trainees regarding their disability and welfare support needs.
A commitment to the aims of the National Institute of Teaching.
An interest in the education sector and a belief in the value of teachers and school leaders.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of data protection regulations and best practices in handling sensitive information.
Proficient in the use of MS Office software packages, such as Word, Excel and Outlook, as well as search engines and online databases.
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience delivering disability and/or mental health support in a higher education setting, such as a Disability, Mentoring or Wellbeing Service.
Further postgraduate training related to student support, such as Study Skills, Mentoring, SEND, disability support.
Experience of working in or with the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) sector.

About the role

As Senior Youth Support Worker you will;

The postholder will join the academy’s Global Strategy, Policy & Engagement Team at an exciting time for its international policy and engagement work. Reporting to the Head of Global Strategy, Policy & Engagement, this role will play a key part in shaping and delivering the academy’s international engagement strategy, strengthening relationships with key international partners, and contributing to the academy’s growing influence across global policy debates. The role will work particularly closely with a fellow Deputy Head leading on the Global (Dis)Order international policy programme and help lead the academy’s international engagement and partnerships portfolio, with particular responsibility for global relationship-building and engagement with international organisations and networks.
A key aspect of the role will be helping to develop and deliver the academy’s international policy activities in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment. This will include identifying emerging opportunities and challenges, coordinating evidence-based policy outputs, convening expertise from across the humanities and social sciences, and ensuring the academy's work informs and influences decision-making at national and international levels. The successful candidate will bring strong policy development and delivery experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and an ability to operate confidently across complex international environments. Experience of international engagement, diplomacy, multilateral organisations, international research policy or government relations would be particularly valuable. Purpose:
The Enhanced Support & Grants Team Manager is instrumental in ensuring our clients who present with the most complex and vulnerable of situations receive specialised, tailored support to achieve financial stability and become debt-free. Including monitoring CAP’s Grants team who secure financial support for those accessing insolvency options.
Your key focus is to lead and empower a team of specialist Debt Advisors who operate at the intersection of complex financial distress and significant personal vulnerability. This involves not just triaging and assessing, but creating holistic, life-changing solutions while continuously monitoring and proactively intervening in clients' safeguarding and wellbeing needs. As the Team Manager, you will work in partnership with the Safeguarding Lead, exercising direct oversight over high-risk cases and proactively identifying and managing evolving areas of risk, in strict adherence to the FCA’s stringent guidance on vulnerable customers.

Effective personnel management of staff, to facilitate the delivery of a high-performing debt help service in collaboration with the church through:
Ensuring adequate staffing by managing holidays, sickness and other absence within your team and across the Hubs
Regular catch-ups which include feedback on quality and output indicators, client outcomes and customer service. Bringing encouragement, challenge and coaching on how to improve these and seeking to empower team members.
Delivering effective team communication, both written and verbal, to engage staff members in business as usual and aid smooth change management. Demonstrating active ownership of organisational awareness and wider strategy.
Workload management to facilitate an effective debt service by:
Collaborating with the Enhanced Support Leads, Enhanced Support In-Team Specialists, the Regional Team Managers and the Senior Hub Delivery Managers to ensure the workload is prioritised to meet agreed Service Level Agreements.
Participation in the wider Church and Client Support management team. This includes working with other Team Managers in your department, taking ownership of decisions pertinent to your area and covering responsibilities as needed when other managers are absent. Also included is attendance and participation on a directorate wide level and the willingness and ability to lead in that broader context where required.
Overseeing Specialised Client Support
Provide strategic oversight and guidance to the wider team of in-team specialists. This includes ensuring appropriate escalation pathways and adherence to best practices in safeguarding and the FCA’s consumer duty regulations.
Responsibility as a Senior Safeguarding Officer and point of escalation for high risk situations across Service Delivery.

Oversight of the net promoter scores and outcomes for vulnerable clients; contributing to the content of the annual Consumer Duty report and the Foreseeable Harm risk register, representing Enhanced Support in this area.

The Home Together Service sits within our Age Well Together Service, which offers a range of assistance to support clients at home and in their local community to prevent decline; maintain independence; reduce social isolation; and promote health and wellbeing with care, friendship and understanding. This includes our befriending services, an online shopping service and a Handyperson service.
