About the role:
For young people who have experienced care, homelessness, trauma or instability, the quality of the adults and services around them can shape what happens next. As a Team Manager in our Young People’s Services, you’ll help create the consistency, safety and skilled support young people need to build confidence, develop independence and move towards adulthood with greater choice over their future.
We have two Team Manager opportunities available: one at Cecil House in Camden and one at North Birbeck in Waltham Forest. Working closely with the Service(s), and Regional Services Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day management and practice leadership across the service, supporting and developing frontline staff while maintaining strong oversight of safeguarding, risk, support planning and the quality of practice. You’ll deputise for the Services Manager when required and help make sure young people receive support that is purposeful, individual and rooted in trauma-informed and psychologically informed approaches.
Reflective practice will be an important part of how you lead. You’ll create space for staff to think critically about their work, understand the impact of trauma and relationships, learn from challenging situations and strengthen their professional judgement. Alongside this, you’ll help maintain high standards across the service, supporting Ofsted readiness, quality assurance and continuous improvement, and working closely with Children’s Services, Leaving Care teams and other partners to achieve the best possible outcomes for young people.
This is an opportunity to take on a significant management role within our Young People’s Services, develop your leadership and regulatory experience and help shape consistently strong practice across the team. You’ll be supported by experienced managers and have access to ongoing learning, development and reflective practice to continue growing as a leader.
About you:
- You know how to lead from alongside a team — giving people clarity, confidence and challenge while creating the kind of environment where strong practice can actually grow.
- You’re confident in complex situations and don’t lose sight of the young person behind the risk, behaviour or incident. You can help staff stay curious, think clearly and make proportionate safeguarding decisions.
- You understand trauma-informed and psychologically informed practice, and you can use supervision and reflective practice as real tools for better decision-making, not just as processes to complete.
- You notice when something in a service is drifting, inconsistent or not good enough, and you’re comfortable asking why, tightening practice and turning feedback, audits and learning into meaningful improvement.
- You build strong relationships with Children’s Services, Leaving Care teams and other partners, can challenge constructively when needed, and keep young people’s voices, rights and ambitions at the centre of the work.
About SHP:

We’re here for Londoners wherever they are on their journey. We start with trust, building relationships that help people feel safe, supported, and ready to move forward. We stand alongside people as they rebuild and shape a future that feels their own.
Joining Single Homeless Project means joining a team that’s bold, compassionate and determined to do better for the people we support and for each other. You’ll work alongside colleagues with lived experience, in a space that’s trans-inclusive, disability-friendly, and actively striving to be anti-oppressive and equitable.

YEF Detached Youth Work Project Lead
Relationships change lives.
At M13 Youth Project, we believe every young person deserves trusted adults who believe in them, walk alongside them and help them discover who they are, what they have to offer and the difference they can make. For over 30 years, we've built those relationships through detached youth work - meeting young people where they choose to be, listening deeply and creating opportunities for belonging, belief and hope.
We're now looking for an experienced Detached Youth Work Project Lead to join our team and play a central role in one of the UK's most ambitious detached youth work research pilots.
M13 is leading the Greater Manchester consortium delivering the Youth Endowment Fund (YEF) Detached Youth Work Pilot. The Pilot aims to build a strong evidence base for researching detached youth work, combining outstanding frontline practice with rigorous evaluation to shape the future of youth work nationally.
Reporting to the Founding Director, you'll provide the day-to-day leadership of M13's delivery of the pilot. You'll lead a small team of detached youth workers, coordinate operational delivery across intervention neighbourhoods and ensure the project is delivered safely, consistently and in line with the YEF Shared Practice Model and research requirements.
This is first and foremost a practice leadership role. You'll spend much of your week out in parks, streets and neighbourhoods, building trusted relationships with young people through high-quality detached youth work. Alongside this, you'll supervise and support colleagues, oversee monitoring and reporting, build positive relationships with community members and partner organisations, and, together with the Founding Director, work closely with the Centre for Evidence and Implementation (CEI) and consortium partners to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
We're looking for someone who is an experienced detached youth worker, confident leading others and passionate about relational practice. You'll be organised, reflective and proactive, with experience of supervising staff, coordinating projects, maintaining high-quality records and working collaboratively with partners. Most importantly, you'll share our belief that relationships are the foundation for meaningful change.
This is a 35-hour per week, office- and community-based role. (M13's full-time week is 37.5 hours). Your week will include six detached youth work sessions (three afternoons and three evenings), alongside team leadership, partnership working, supervision, monitoring and project coordination. Some flexibility can be offered around when office-based work is undertaken, where operationally possible.
In return, we offer a supportive, reflective and values-led working environment, regular supervision, ongoing professional development, a generous employer pension contribution, TOIL for out-of-hours working, additional Christmas gift leave and the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant research that could shape the future of detached youth work.
If you're an experienced detached youth worker ready to combine excellent frontline practice with leadership, learning and innovation, we'd love to hear from you.
Please submit your CV together with answers to the five questions below, limiting your response to 250 words per question. Please do not exceed the word limit as doing so may affect the scoring of your answers. We encourage you to use examples from your own practice, explaining not only what you did, but why you made particular decisions and what you learned.
We use a blind recruitment process to help ensure fair and equitable recruitment. Applications will be shortlisted against the Person Specification, so please demonstrate how your skills, experience and values meet the requirements of the role. We welcome examples from paid or voluntary roles, and recognise that many skills are transferable.
We exist to be a consistent, trusted presence in communities experiencing deep-rooted inequality.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

You will lead efforts to identify and engage people who may benefit from our support, build strong referral relationships across London, and ensure our volunteers are recruited, trained and supported effectively.
You will also line manage our Community Outreach Worker and hold a small caseload of your own. This will involve visiting people in their homes, hospitals and care settings and providing pastoral care, advocacy, emotional support and practical help, including support at the end of life.

- Develop clear volunteer roles and effective procedures covering safeguarding, safe recruitment and DBS checks.
- Hold a small caseload and provide face-to-face pastoral, emotional, advocacy and practical support.
- Represent Irish Chaplaincy at community events, forums and partner meetings.
- Support community development, fundraising, impact reporting and activity connected with Irish Chaplaincy's 70th anniversary in 2027.
About you
We are looking for someone with substantial recent experience in:
- Community outreach, engagement or development, particularly with older people or other vulnerable adults.
- Face-to-face support and casework, including visits to people's homes, hospitals or care settings.
- Line managing or supervising paid staff, including supporting performance, wellbeing and professional development.
- Recruiting, training, supporting and managing volunteers, while creating a positive and inclusive volunteering culture.
You will be an excellent relationship-builder with strong communication and organisational skills, a sound understanding of safeguarding, and the ability to balance outreach, management and direct support responsibilities.
You will bring a warm, respectful and person-centred approach to your work. You should also have empathy with, and a commitment to, Irish Chaplaincy's Christian ethos and pastoral mission. An understanding of Irish culture and the experiences of the Irish diaspora in Britain would be an advantage.
The role requires regular travel across London and occasional evening or weekend work. An enhanced DBS check and the right to work in the UK are required.
Irish Chaplaincy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of older and vulnerable people. We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
