Age UK Wandsworth is a local, independent charity that works to promote the wellbeing of all older people in the London Borough of Wandsworth. This role is focused on providing strategic communications leadership to the Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), with an emphasis on web and digital media. The ambition of this role is to support GDI Hub into its next 10-years (having just celebrated our 10-year anniversary), with ownership of our expansive web and digital portfolios.
The post holder will work with the Director of Global Engagement and the GDI Hub comms team to elevate the organisation’s portfolio of public facing touch points. The role will combine core responsibilities of website ownership and content development, alongside providing experienced and strategic leadership for the communications function.
GDI Hub has evolved from a start-up to an established medium sized organisation in the last 10 years. We are a registered charity caring for the historic Grade I-listed Sharpham House and Estate on the banks of the River Dart near to Totnes.
At the heart of the Sharpham Trust ethos is our desire to build a more mindful, compassionate and environmentally sustainable world. We connect over 3,000 people annually with nature and foster mindfulness and well-being through our programme of retreats, mindfulness courses, public events, outdoor learning and the arts.
In recent years the Trust has greatly expanded its activities, integrating and increasing the scope of our work. Our estate now embraces various retreat centres, operating all year round, together with online offers, serving a wide range of audiences and interests.
Our marketing and communications are founded upon a desire to build lasting authentic relationships with our participants and to expand the range and number of people we engage.
Over the last two years we have been reviewing our marketing and communications and increased the staffing resources dedicated to this area. Main Purpose of the Post
The Chief Executive will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the day to day running of the RLSS and all its services. Key Duties and Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership and Governance
· Provide visible, ambitious, and focused leadership of the RLSS.
· Be overall responsible for the management of the RLSS working in conjunction with the Chair and Directors to provide leadership.
· Lead and contribute to the Board’s overall development of the strategy and annual plans to ensure achievement of a One Church approach to applying the Church’s safeguarding standards.
· Ensure risks to the overall objectives of the RLSS are identified, mitigated, and reported to the Board.
· Develop a culture of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning within the organization to navigate challenges and maintain trust among victims/survivors and members.
· Develop and promote services and practice improvements which are designed to mitigate risk and improve understanding within safeguarding.
