Main purpose of the role: To provide leadership to the organisation working with the Senior Leadership Team to develop, deliver and evaluate our agreed strategic business plan; promote growth and sustainability, and foster a positive, inspiring work environment that empowers our teams to deliver our vision and goals.

About the role
The Social Media and Marketing Officer will deliver high-performing digital marketing campaigns that drive supporter acquisition and engagement. Working within the charity’s Policy and Communications team, you will focus on content creation to support a broad range of charity initiatives, ranging from fundraising campaigns to promoting events including our annual conference and signature fundraising event, the Duchenne Dash, and disseminating news to our stakeholders and community.
Reporting to the Director of Policy and Communications, you will lead the execution of digital campaigns, work to strengthen our presence on social media and grow our audience to amplify our communications and marketing activity, produce impactful marketing materials, work with community representatives and ambassadors to develop case studies and support with wider marketing and communications activity.
In the role you will:

THE CHARITY
Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 35 and three quarters of those who die by suicide are men. James’ Place exists to save the lives of men in suicidal crisis through delivering clinical services. We are a charity currently offering free, life-saving therapy to suicidal men at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle.
James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts but didn’t find it.
James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. We offer men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centres and in our outside spaces, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families. We have so far treated over 4,300 men who might otherwise have been unable to access the support they desperately need.
In early 2026 we will be opening our fourth centre in Birmingham, which will support suicidal men living in the West Midlands.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a new role in an expanding and dynamic organisation. It responds to our growing ambition to share what we have learned about suicide prevention and delivering services to men who are affected by inequalities.
We understand that for more men to be saved, we need others to take action too. And we need to make this case for change as compelling and impactful as possible to influence commissioners, NHS providers, or policy makers to save more men’s lives.
This role will involve leading the influencing strategy, building evidence-based policy positions, and executing powerful messaging to effectively demonstrate the impact of crisis intervention and the importance of extending this provision to more men across the country.
Overarching priorities
· To influence national and local systems leaders on the importance of rapid, equitable, accessible and tailored treatment and support for acutely suicidal men.
· To establish James’ Place as a leading and credible voice in innovative suicide prevention practice, reducing inequalities in access and in supporting men who other services aren’t reaching.
· To strengthen our evidence base and contribute insight and data to networks and partners who can grow its impact (such as organisations with larger influencing teams, media organisations, policy makers and think tanks).

· Identify key actors and establish, lead and execute an influencing plan for the next 12 – 24 months, in line with the above priorities, emerging insight and changing contexts.

Job Purpose

The Diocese of Truro is home to 305 church buildings — extraordinary places of worship, history, community and culture. As part of our ambitious Buildings Strategy, supported by the Church of England’s Buildings for Mission programme, we are expanding our capacity and seeking a Church Buildings Support Officer (CBSO) to join our Buildings, Environment and Land Team. A second CBSO will be recruited later in the year, and between the roles we aim to cover two specialist areas:
- Fundraising and grant support (particularly heritage and capital grants)
- Community engagement and enterprise development

As a CBSO, you will be an advisor, problem‑solver and encourager — working alongside parishes to help them repair, adapt and make the best possible use of their buildings. You’ll support everything from maintenance plans to major capital projects, helping churches access funding, specialist guidance and community partnerships.
You will play a key role in ensuring church buildings are well cared for, environmentally responsible, and equipped for worship, ministry and wider community life. The right person for this role will understand buildings in community settings and how they are used. They will be interested in heritage buildings and also know about, or want to learn about, churches and how to care for them. We need a strong communicator who can adjust to different audiences, engaging people in the cause rather than bulldoze them. The skills to bring people together to collaborate are key. Experience of developing and managing projects with community groups/faith groups and fundraising, as well as experience in budget management is important.
Ideally, we seek someone with a qualification and experience in a relevant area, but we are very happy to invest in the right person and can offer a range of training and support.

As our Direct Marketing Officer, you will help deliver direct marketing activity that connects supporters to our mission. You will develop marketing campaigns that motivate audiences through engagement that ultimately supports income for the association. Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and delivering direct marketing campaigns to recruit, develop and build relationships with supporters through a variety of channels
- Source information in order to produce appeals, newsletters and other information for supporters as appropriate, liaising with colleagues, key stakeholders and external agencies as necessary
- Day-to-day management of relationships with key external agencies and suppliers, including direct marketing agencies (e.g. printers, fulfilment houses and telemarketing agencies)
- Tracking and monitoring income and expenditure for campaigns to ensure all commissioned activity is carried out on time, within budgets and to agreed standards
- Reporting of results, and analysis of key activities against KPI’s and targets as well as making recommendations for future activity

- Stay informed of competitor activity and legal requirements of fundraising and direct marketing in order to constantly evolve creative techniques and deliver communications that meet appropriate UK regulations
About you
- Experience of delivering Direct Marketing campaigns online and offline (acquisition and development), preferably in the not-for-profit sector
- Strong knowledge of direct marketing principles and experience of working with direct marketing agencies
- Excellent communication and attention to detail with the ability to develop good working relationships with external agencies/suppliers and key stakeholders
- Ability to harness CRM databases for potential direct marketing
- Experience in producing, analysing and interpreting statistical data
- Ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines, problem-solving and the confidence to make decisions
