Are you an experienced writer and editor who would love to work on stories about the challenges and successes in wildlife conservation?
We want to hear from you! Synchronicity Earth is looking for a Senior Communications Officer to join our small, dynamic Communications team and help promote the work of our programmes and partners around the world.
You will have an important role in creating digital content for our email and social media audiences, which will mean using your initiative to pick out strong stories from our programmes.
About Synchronicity Earth
Synchronicity Earth is a UK-registered charity focusing on global biodiversity conservation, specialising in overlooked and underfunded species and ecosystems.
We are research-driven, raising and distributing donor funding to the conservation sector.
To increase the impact of this funding, we develop programmes focusing on areas where the gaps in funding overlap with the highest risk of extinction, habitat destruction, and threats to biological and cultural diversity.
Through our programmes, we provide core and flexible support to (often local-led, women-led, and/or youth-led) partners addressing issues such as the amphibian extinction crisis, freshwater biodiversity loss, and the ‘silent forests’ of Southeast Asia.
Application and recruitment process

If a role requires it under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, we will carry out the appropriate Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. All DBS information is handled sensitively, confidentially and in line with the DBS Code of Practice, and we encourage applicants to discuss any concerns with us openly.
About Depaul UK
In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Appalled by the scenes playing out across the capital, a group of people came together to tackle the challenge head on. Led by Cardinal Basil Hume and Mark McGreevy OBE, in 1989 Depaul UK was born.
What began as a single housing project in North London soon expanded across London, Greater Manchester and the North East of England. Today, Depaul UK provides accommodation, prevention and support services to thousands of marginalised young people across the UK each year.
As our name suggests, the work of Depaul UK has been inspired by St. Vincent de Paul – a man who devoted his life to helping vast numbers of people throughout the 17th century. St. Vincent de Paul’s belief in the intrinsic worth of all people and his commitment to taking bold action remain central to our values today. Depaul UK now forms part of a family of Depaul charities around the world. We each focus on the specific challenges in our own countries, but we’re united by our shared values and mission to end homelessness.
Please note this role is advertised by the recruitment agency acting for the client – Not For Profit People.

Why do we need a Major Projects Lead - People?
Last year, we helped more than 40,000 Young People, with three in four young people on our programmes moving into a positive outcome in work, education or training. The young people we help face a range of challenges, such as unemployment, mental health issues or some who have been in trouble with the law. We believe all young people should have the chance to succeed, and that young people are the key to a positive and prosperous future for all of us. We want to continue having a positive impact on young people’s lives, and we couldn’t do this without the important work of staff!

About GFS
Established in 1875, GFS is one of the oldest UK registered charities working to support girls and young women. We believe in challenging gender inequality by empowering girls and young women.
We achieve this by providing groups where girls and young women build friendships, gain confidence, and learn that they are unstoppable.
We create a programme of activities designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, emotional wellbeing, and resilience, and recruit and train women volunteers to run those activities in a single gender space. We prioritise working in areas of disadvantage.
About the job
GFS is entering a new bold and ambitious strategic period; we intend to significantly grow the number of girls we are supporting across the UK, ensuring more girls feel free to be themselves and are proud of who they are. Building on our long-standing community delivery model and our schools programme in Manchester and London, we are seeking a school and groups coordinator to coordinate local GFS activities and support the growth of GFS in Liverpool.
