Archdeacons are called to share in the mission of the church, exercising their ministry in close collaboration with the Bishop. They play a significant role in the recruitment, oversight, support, discipline, and pastoral care of the clergy. They also play a key role in strategic planning, managing conflict, encouraging stewardship and responding to safeguarding issues, alongside exercising their legal responsibilities.

The Archdeacons’ PA will need to have a high level of hospitality, a friendly and engaging telephone manner, and excellent people skills. The PA manages many interactions with clergy and parishes and is often the first port of call with the wider Diocese.

With a close eye for detail they provide administrative support to the archdeacons, managing their diaries, project managing events, ensuring processes work effectively, writing or acting on their behalf, and providing the information and support they need to carry out their work effectively and in a timely manner. 

They need to take the initiative and be proactive in finding creative solutions to a range of issues. An ability to prioritise will be essential.

The ability to take initiative and be proactive is a key skill for an archdeacons' PA, as is flexibility, as the workflow is not always consistent, and the two archdeacons at different times have different demands. The PA is part of the Kingston Area Team, consisting of the Bishop of Kingston, his Chaplain, the two Archdeacons, and the two PAs and so must be an exceptional team player.

 While experience of church life - particularly in the Church of England - would be an advantage, the ability to learn and be empathetic are the key strengths the PA needs.

Purpose of role

As the Program Manager, Media and Communications, you will support the Program Director on the design, development and implementation of communication strategies and plans to advance Humane World for Animals UK’s strategic priorities with regard to campaigns, brand-building and fundraising. You will lead on producing and delivering a content strategy for a broad range of channels to increase audience engagement. The position will support campaigns and fundraising stewardship and give strategic advice regarding social media market insights and trends in the UK digital sphere and emerging channels. This will be vital to achieve successful brand building in the UK market through impactful storytelling, campaign activations, fundraising recruitment and stewardship through compelling content on the earned channels and holistic management of thematic work.

You will have experience of delivering media and communication strategies and plans in a fast-paced environment. As National Director of Operations, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for our learning programmes in prisons and community settings. A respected UK charity is seeking a Property Services Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality housing management across supported living schemes for vulnerable residents.

Role overview

You will oversee repairs, maintenance, compliance, and voids across a portfolio of properties, ensuring homes are safe, well-maintained, and meet all regulatory standards. The role includes managing a team, overseeing contractors, controlling budgets, and driving service improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the property services team
• Manage repairs, voids, planned and cyclical maintenance
• Oversee contractor performance and KPIs
• Ensure full health & safety compliance (gas, fire, electrical, water, asbestos)
• Monitor budgets and control costs
• Reduce void turnaround times and rent loss
• Maintain estate and scheme standards
• Produce performance and management reports
• Engage residents and incorporate feedback into service delivery

About you

• Experience in housing/property management (social housing, local authority, or similar)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Knowledge of repairs, compliance, and housing legislation
• Experience managing contractors and KPIs
• Strong understanding of H&S in housing
• Good communication and stakeholder skills
• Customer-focused approach
• Property/surveying qualification desirable

The successful candidate will have

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and, be either working towards or has achieved the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
• Prior experience in residential children’s homes, including at least a year with staff supervision and management responsibility.
• A passion for achieving the best possible outcomes for young people.
• Excellent leadership and staff management abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to deliver at least ‘good’ in the home’s Ofsted inspection.
• Sound business awareness and a flair for promoting the service.
• Flexibility, drive and resilience.

This role will involve some shift work plus some on call duties in the evening and at weekends. Applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS (police) checks.
