Position: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer

Location: Remote (onsite attendance is currently anticipated to be the equivalent of 2 days per month)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday - Friday

Salary: £31,428 per annum

Contract: fixed-term contract starting as soon as possible, until 9th April 2027

About the Role

As Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Officer, you will support the design and implementation of evidenced-based projects. This will enable the organisation to deliver high quality programmes, monitoring and evaluating impact and conducting data analysis, playing an essential role in ensuring accountability and improving information management and data quality.

Your principal duties and responsibilities will include

• Supporting the regional Programmes and Partnerships Advisors, International teams, and partners throughout the project cycle, to ensure that MEL activities and requirements are fully integrated into project and programme plans and budgets.
• Supporting the Programme Design and Impact Advisor (PDIA) to ensure that funded projects are effectively and efficiently monitored and evaluated and that learnings are captured, understood, shared and embedded into future work.
• Supporting the PDIA to promote and embed the use of the International Theory of Change and Quality Standards into ways of working.
• Supporting the implementation of, and conducting regular reviews into, the International Results Framework and associated MEL tools.
• Leading the collection, collation, storage, analysis and reporting of project and programme data, in line with the International Results Framework, to help demonstrate and communicate the impact of our international work.
• Supporting the preparation and review of internal reports in collaboration with programme staff, ensuring high-quality reporting, and that learning is captured and utilised.
• Strengthening monitoring, evaluation, feedback, and learning practices across the UK and international teams, as well as partners, through training, workshops, webinars, etc.

About You

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level or has the equivalent in experience.

You will also have:

• Demonstrable skills in monitoring, evaluation, feedback, and learning methods; including knowledge of best practices and experience with M&E frameworks, feedback, and learning processes.
• Significant knowledge or experience of conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
• Proven experience of developing MEL training and mentoring approaches, designing and facilitating participatory capacity development activities targeted to non-expert audiences.
• A practical understanding of the principal evaluation methodologies, and data collection and analysis techniques.
• Competent IT skills, including MS Office
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor approach for a wide range of audiences.

The Operations Manager is a new leadership position that will play a pivotal role in the delivery of FFLAG’s operations which span online, offline, and local group support for parents and carers of LGBT+ loved ones. We also want you to bring experience of fundraising to help ensure we stay financially secure for the long term.

About FFLAG

FFLAG is a national voluntary organisation and registered charity and is the UK’s longest established parent support charity in the LGBT+ sector. Our history began in the grassroots parent helplines of the 1960s, grew through the 1980’s and 90’s as we supported anxious parents and fought against the discrimination of Section 28, becoming a formally registered charity in 2000.

Our work sounds simple, but it is life changing. We help parents and families understand, accept and support their LGBT+ family members with love and pride.

We offer a range of support options spanning 121 online and helpline support services, to a UK-wide monthly group Zoom meeting and face to face local groups. We also have an extensive collection of online resources and guides.  We attend as many Pride events as we can and our work supports thousands of families every year. This support is provided by an active base of FFLAG volunteers who are parents of LGBT+ children themselves, supported by other volunteers and allies. 

In addition to our support work, FFLAG advocates for the full human and civil rights of LGBT+ individuals. FFLAG speaks out and acts to defend and enhance those human and civil rights. 

What this job is all about

Simply put, as Operations Manager you will ensure the charity's activities are effective, sustainable, and aligned with our mission to support families with LGBT+ members

Reporting directly to the Chair, working closely with the Board of Trustees and supported by a part-time Volunteer Engagement & Events Coordinator you will:

• Lead and supervise the daily operational functions, ensuring smooth and compliant delivery of services.
• Lead fundraising activities, including grant applications, donor stewardship, and partnership development.

We currently have 9 projects across the UK, and we’re aiming to scale in the coming years. Our vouchers area accepted exclusively by local, independent healthy food businesses, ensuring that we are also supporting a fairer, healthier local food economy.

Our model directly tackles the barriers of affordability and accessibility to the most nutrient dense and most expensive element of a healthy diet. We change the health outcomes of young children and adults living with food related health conditions. We actively change the food environment that is available to a range of people who have been disadvantaged for decades.

Our Journey

S.A.L.V.E. International was founded in 2008 by Helen Huthwaite and Nicola Sansom. Since then, we have gone on to resettle 978 street connected children with their families. We have also supported 378 young people through education, rehabilitated over 1000 street connected children at our Residential Centre and initiated 495 small businesses to support families. Over the years, our advocacy work has included being part of Small Charity Week in the UK parliament, and being part of a delegation to the UN with the Consortium for Street Children.

Today we employ 4 staff in the UK and 27 in Uganda. Our annual turnover is approximately £300k. New developments in our work include sports programming and a very promising tailoring course. We are well on track to achieve our 2022-27 strategic goals - reaching more children, expanding support for girls, strengthening families and improving our funding sustainability.

Looking forward, the demand for our services continues to grow, whilst charities in general are facing a very difficult financial position. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer who will consolidate and develop existing initiatives and continue to diversify our provision. They must be able to enhance our efforts to improve our long-term financial sustainability. Working in collaboration with the Board, they will develop our next strategic plan in line with our vision and values.

Job Purpose

● To be a visionary who drives forwards and maximises the impact of the organisation. Working with the Board of Trustees to ensure that a strong vision with clear strategic planning is in place for the organisation to best benefit our service users.

● To work with the Ugandan and UK team to develop and improve our existing programmes of work for the organisation to best benefit our service users.

● To oversee the budget, finance and risk management of the organisation.

● To oversee our fundraising strategy and grow relationships with new and existing funders to a high standard ensuring that maximum potential support is achieved.

● To proactively identify prospects, approaching and winning resources from new partnerships in the wider community to best meet S.A.L.V.E.’s aims and objectives.

● To raise awareness of the work of S.A.L.V.E. International and oversee our advocacy and communications strategy and implementation.

Key Activities

STRATEGY

• Lead the organisation by working collaboratively with our global team of staff, volunteers, and board members to ensure a strong strategic plan is in place, which is reviewed and improved over time to maximise the organisation’s impact.

FUNDRAISING

• Leading and championing our fundraising strategy. Helping to develop our one off and regular financial supporters through finding new opportunities and networks, giving talks, ensuring quality timely communications, and reporting to existing supporters.
• Supporting and co-working with our Development Manager to research new application prospects, and helping to maintain and develop the income from our existing network of corporate, organisational and Trust and Foundation partnerships and donors. This includes writing and reviewing funding applications and reports as needed.
• Lead on the drafting of larger or multi-year funding applications, with support from the Development Manager to finalise.

FINANCE

• Overseeing the budget and financial management of the organisation to ensure the organisation’s long term sustainability and sound financial management, including creating the annual budget for approval by the UK Board.
• Collaboratively reviewing the charity’s financial controls and performance, including a final review of the monthly accounts (UK and Uganda), and overseeing the internal audit of our accounts with the finance committee.
• Ensuring the organisation is financially compliant according to the Charities Commission and meets all statutory requirements.

HR

• Recruiting, training, developing and managing staff and volunteers in the UK to help to build the capacity of the organisation as needed. This currently includes line managing: Ugandan Country Director, Development Manager, Communications Manager
• Support the Country Director with recruitment in Uganda.
• Creating a strong sense of team spirit and a culture of appreciation and reliability within the team by reinforcing organisation values and ensuring accountability.

GOVERNANCE

• Working closely with and supporting our UK and Ugandan boards to ensure that the governance of the organisation is strong.
• Lead on creating, reviewing, and developing policies, procedures and systems, including but not limited to ensuring quality safeguarding and risk management for the organisation.
• Ensure the organisation is appropriately prepared for potential risks
• Ensuring the organisation is compliant according to the Charities Commission and meets all statutory requirements.

COMMUNICATION

• Overseeing the communications strategy of the organisation, ensuring the website, social media, newsletters, annual report and mailings out to supporters are kept up to date by supporting our Communications Manager. This includes drafting and checking copy and promoting and marketing events and campaigns for the organisation to raise funds and awareness.
• Being an advocate for the organisation, by seeking and maximising opportunities to represent the organisation, to help raise awareness and support for the work we do and the needs of street connected children generally.

PROGRAMMES and OPERATIONS

• Leading and collaborating with the wider team to develop and improve our programmes through regular evaluation and learning reviews.
• Support the Country Director to ensure the organisation operations function smoothy, and that the strategic plan can be implemented.

PARTNERSHIPS

• Representing S.A.L.V.E. in partnerships and networks such as the Consortium for Street Children to ensure that we are making the most of funding, partnership and advocacy opportunities.
• Manage relationships with key partners in the UK and internationally, to ensure we are collaborating to achieve the greatest impact.

SAFEGUARDING

• To be the Safeguarding Lead within the organisation, and continually strengthen safeguarding as a priority in all our work.

Purpose of the role

Our PR & Media Manager is crucial to guiding our public story and scale up our media reach as we enter the final stages of our campaign to end bear bile farming in Vietnam and develop the profile of our founder and CEO Jill Robinson MBE. As the internal lead for global PR and media, you will cultivate strong relationships with colleagues in our Programmes and Fundraising teams to amplify their work through celebrity support, thought-leadership and media engagement.

Your main areas of responsibility include press office management (managing the media inbox, journalist and influencer liaison, writing press releases, and media monitoring , working with our international network of external PR specialists to prepare and deliver PR & Media plans for each of our key fundraising markets (UK, US & Aus.), preparing pitches, media releases and content for media outreach and building a library of case studies and fact files to demonstrate our impact. 

Working closely with our Celebrity Manager, your other key area of responsibility is developing and implementing creative media opportunities for our celebrity supporters to raise Animals Asia’s profile through earned, owned and shared digital platforms, print and broadcast media. You will possess the knowledge, skills, and creativity to help us raise awareness of Animals Asia and what we stand for, helping us grow our supporter base and meet our brand goals. You will be managed by our Global Director of Strategic Communication. 

Key duties:

Strategy and planning

• Development of creative campaigns that deliver high quality coverage to reach target audiences in line with Animals Asia’s organisational and communications objectives including fundraising, brand awareness, policy influencing and behaviour change.
• Utilise a range of appropriate tactics such as celebrity and influencer support, CEO profile building and subject matter expert thought leadership.

PR delivery

• Participate in the development and implementation of our thought leadership program, supporting our internal subject matter experts to publish on Linked In, contribute to earned media and participate in speaking opportunities.
• Preparing, publishing, moderating and reporting on social media content for PR and media purposes, including the identification and targeting of key influencers to support our campaigns share our content.
• Support and promote global campaigns, appeals and events with PR, including the development of press materials and media targeting and liaison.

Press office management

• Day to day running of the press office, including responding to media enquiries, drafting media releases, undertaking proactive pitch development, outreach to journalists and influencers, maintaining our database of media contacts and other general press office management.
• Leading on the creation and maintenance of our external events and key dates calendar to identify opportunities and clashes for PR.
• Keeping abreast of external events and news stories for reactive response and future planning.
• Identifying, monitoring and responding to any reputational and other reactive issues, including anything related to our celebrity ambassadors, in a timely and appropriate manner.

• Lead on the internal coordination of information, asset gathering and content production for proactive and reactive media activity, delivering outputs in an engaging, accessible and media appealing way, including with the development and maintenance of a case study and fact file library and the production of media-ready content, including with video, images, audio and copy.
• Develop and craft key messages that get cut through, in support of our campaigns.
• Draft high quality materials such as press releases, opeds, blogs, briefings, pitches and bios across all PR, including in close collaboration with our internal subject matter experts to develop our reputation and thought leadership in animal welfare.

Relationship management

• Day to day management of PR suppliers and partners, including our international network of external PR specialists to deliver PR campaigns.
• Internal liaison with colleagues throughout Animals Asia to gather information, check facts and develop content and pitches for earned media.
• Build relationships with key journalists, celebrities and social media influencers.

General

• Proactive attendance at meetings.

Person Specification:

• Minimum of three years’ experience of working in a busy press office or PR agency, including drafting key messages, press releases and responding to media enquiries.

Open Rights Group (ORG) is recruiting for a Pre-Crime Programme Manager

The Pre-Crime Programme Manager leads our work on predictive policing and surveillance within the criminal legal system and counter-terrorism policy, with a particular focus on raising awareness of, and challenging, the impact on over-policed and over-surveilled communities.

They are responsible for the development and implementation of the Pre-Crime programme, working with the Senior Management Team (SMT) and other staff to expand the programme’s profile, network and funding opportunities.

As a Programme Lead, they will also be responsible for working with the SMT and other Area or Programme leads to further develop and uphold ORG’s values and collaborative working culture. They will be recognised as an issue-expert and senior leader within the organisation.

Activities

This is a permanent position at Open Rights Group, and we have secured a number of project grants to deliver the following activities:

• Lead and manage the Safety Not Surveillance (SNS) Coalition, the UK’s only coalition fighting to prohibit AI- and data-driven predictive policing. SNS brings together grassroots partners with national organisations to build power in communities, secure media coverage, engage decision-makers and mobilise those with lived experience.

• Develop detailed policy positions on the deployment of AI and data-driven technologies by private and public actors in criminal justice, immigration and national security.

• Advocacy to encourage decision makers, including MPs, Lords, Government departments and the Information Commissioner’s Office, to adopt ORG’s and the coalition’s recommendations.

• Conduct campaigns that raise awareness of the threats posed to people’s digital rights by the data-driven technologies in policing and counter-terrorism, as well as more broadly.

• Through research and FOIs, help build a legal case with our partners against covert Police-led pathways under Prevent, the UK’s counter-terrorism programme.

• Opportunities to campaign against digital ID, the Online Safety Act and to protect freedom of expression.

Interim Head of Business Development & Funding Partnerships

Remote (UK) - This role will require occasional travel to HQ in London and occasional overseas travel

As Interim Head of Business Development and Funding Partnerships, you’ll provide strategic leadership across business development, donor engagement, and organisational funding processes. The organisation has recently completed extensive research into donor alignment, new opportunities, and optimal engagement strategies. This role will play a central part in operationalising that insight and working with the team to identify priorities and maximise the value of the research.

You will also:

• Strengthen the BD function by improving roles, processes, and systems, and aligning the team towards new areas of institutional funding.
• Provide senior‑level insight during a period of funding uncertainty, including pipeline analysis and donor intelligence.
• Lead and support high‑value donor engagement and relationship‑building.
• Guide the organisation in adapting structures and processes to engage a wider range of donors.
• Oversee high‑quality proposal development and competitive positioning.
• Line manage and mentor a team of partnerships professionals.

About You

You bring extensive experience in institutional funding (ideally beyond FCDO and DFID), donor engagement, and leading BD functions within an international, governance, or development context. You are strategic, team orientated, and comfortable steering organisations through change.

You can demonstrate:

• An extensive track record of strengthening BD operations, including redesigning roles, improving internal processes, and developing systems that support high‑quality funding pipelines.
• The ability to provide strategic insight and forecasting to senior leadership, particularly around pipeline scenarios, donor intelligence, and risk.
• Experience shaping organisational offers and value propositions to meet varying donor expectations, compliance requirements, and cost‑recovery rules.
• (Desirable but not essential) Experience positioning an organisation for new and emerging institutional donors, including those with lower overhead/NPAC thresholds.

Role purpose

You are responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating the Sector Connected Leaders Programme which is a new scheme and in a pilot stage. The role combines project management, stakeholder coordination and delivery of high-quality events and learning activity across the UK nuclear sector. You hold day-to-day accountability for delivery, budget control and reporting.

Job title: Project and Events Lead, Sector Connected Leaders Programme
Contract: Fixed term, 12 months, with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent role, subject to funding and performance
Working pattern: 0.6 FTE, 3 days per week
Salary: £15,000 per annum (0.6 FTE, £25,000 FTE equivalent)
Annual leave entitlement: 25 days plus bank holidays, pro rata. At 0.6 FTE this equates to 15 days annual leave plus bank holidays, calculated on a pro rata basis in line with NI policy.
Location: Wholly remote, UK based, with regular travel

Key Tasks

Programme and project delivery

• Plan and manage the end-to-end delivery of the 12-month pilot programme.
• Develop and maintain a delivery plan, milestones, risks and mitigations.
• Manage delivery within the approved budget.

Events and learning delivery

• Design and deliver a structured programme of in person events, webinars, workshops and site visits.
• Coordinate venues, logistics, suppliers and facilitators.

Stakeholder management

• Act as the primary liaison with the organisations from whom scheme participants will be recruited, including both Government departments and nuclear industry.
• Build effective relationships with sponsors, facilitators and participating organisations.
• Support organisations to endorse and release participants.

Participant management and communications

• Manage participant recruitment, onboarding and ongoing communications.
• Ensure a high-quality participant experience throughout the programme.
• Promote the programme through NI communications, events and conferences.

Monitoring, evaluation and reporting

• Define and track KPIs including participation, satisfaction, diversity and outcomes.
• Produce progress updates and a final evaluation report for NI leadership and the Board.
• Capture learning to inform a sustainable Year 2 delivery model.

Governance and representation

• Support steering group meetings and prepare clear papers and updates.
• Represent NI and the programme at sector events when required.
• Ensure alignment with NI membership, CPD and nuclear professionalism standards.
