We are seeking a Women’s Support Worker to join our Door of Hope team in the East End of London. The role will involve working directly with women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets; supporting them to make goals and support the changes that they wish to make, through information sharing, advocacy, and practical support. We offer this whilst also providing a non-judgemental, and confidential space to talk and be heard.

About Beyond the Streets
Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centered support, provide training for the third sector and statutory professionals, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience. Our training and partnership work seeks to equip professionals to understand the sex industry, particularly survival sex, and to support them to engage with women selling sex in a trauma-informed way.

Person Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience delivering information/advice and managing a caseload, including prioritising effectively, assessing risk, and communicating professionally with students and partners.
- Demonstrable expertise in at least one area relevant to the role (e.g., academic appeals, student finance/welfare benefits, consumer rights, or legal issues).
- Experience supporting individuals facing complex or sensitive matters (e.g., wellbeing, housing, incidents of sexual violence), demonstrating empathy and sensitivity, whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising, supporting or training volunteers or staff.

Details of this role
Hours: We are recruiting two posts totalling 1.5 FTE. The roles are offered on an annualised hours contract, with full-time based on 37 hours per week (1,687 working hours per annum plus 244 hours annual leave). Part-time hours and leave will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

The independent gender violence advocate will work closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.
The role will be part of increasing the ability of partner agencies to recognise, reject and respond appropriately and safely to all forms of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and honour-based violence). The post holder will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. The job involves ensuring that women are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options.

About this role
The Legacy Officer plays a vital role in securing the long-term future of the charity by administering, promoting, and stewarding the charity’s legacy programme, our largest income stream. Legacies are predicted to peak in the next ten years, so this is an exciting time to help us bolster our existing programme, try new and innovative marketing methods to attract new legacy pledgers, and provide ongoing stewardship to legacy pledgers and enquirers, ensuring supporters understand the lasting impact their gift can have on the lives and welfare of working animals across the world. The Voices for Health Equity Project Officer role is to:

Support the delivery of the Public Engagement Network contract, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure high-quality, well-organised and inclusive engagement activity

Our approach to hybrid working
We recognise the importance of coming together regularly, in-person, as a team, so we can share learnings and spend social time with each other. We also recognise that people need flexibility, and that homeworking enables focused work and can fit well in people’s lives.
We ask all staff to take part in pre-arranged team meetings which take place every six weeks in our office space. We also might ask you to meet in-person with members of your team from time to time, or to be available for face-to- face meetings with clients and partners where this enhances the work.
We assume that this would usually not amount to more than one day per fortnight for people who work full time. We are happy to discuss how this sits in your life. This can be agreed by your line manager.
In addition, because this role involves engaging with and recruiting to a large network of VCSE organisations, the post holder will be required to regularly attend in-person events across England. These are likely to take place around once a month and may sometimes require overnight stays.

- Be a reassuring on-site presence, ensuring the safety and security of our supported accommodation through the night and weekends.
- Conduct regular building checks and patrols to monitor safety, maintenance issues, and ensure a calm environment.
- Monitor any CCTV and respond to any concerns or incidents in line with policies and procedures.
- Keep a clear and accurate log of events and activities during each shift.
- Support smooth transitions between shifts by providing details verbal and written handovers.
