Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide charity dedicated to funding vital research to help sick babies and children. Our work is now needed more than ever. To help achieve this, we are seeking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join the Finance Team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work with our Finance Manager to provide support to the financial management of the charity. You will be responsible for the accurate input and processing of financial ledger transactions onto the accounting system, ensuring that all deadlines are met and with a high level of attention to detail. You will work closely with other departments in the charity and will provide first class support. Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate outstanding attention to detail, a positive attitude, great IT skills and strong customer service skills. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

Job Purpose

To perform day-to-day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that supplier accounts are maintained in an efficient, effective, timely and accurate manner for the Charity.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

Supplier invoice processing

· Receive and verify supplier invoices, and ensure they are forwarded to the correct signatories for authorisation within 48 hours of receipt in Finance.

· Ensure that approved invoices returned in the system are immediately processed and posted into the ledger.

· Process staff expense ensuring that the appropriate budgets have been checked and signatories verified on the charity’s online Staff Expenses module.

· Download and dispatch monthly corporate credit card statements to respective cardholders in a timely manner.

· Deal with all supplier queries efficiently and in a timely manner, ensuring that the charity is not exposed to any risk of financial loss resulting from any delays to payment.

· Liaise with colleagues in the charity’s Research department on relevant University grant-holder invoice matters.

· Maintain an up-to-date list of suppliers paid by direct debit including regular amounts, frequency and date of payment, in addition to review and download of any invoices whereby access is provided on-line.

· Ensure that all amounts taken by direct debit are fully reconciled to relevant invoices on a timely basis.

· Create new and appropriately maintain existing supplier records in the financial system.

Other Responsibilities

· Assist in the preparation of the fortnightly payment run, ensuring that all invoices due for payment are included.

• Assist the Finance Manager to regularly review, update and maintain procedure manuals relevant to accounts payable, with a focus on continually improving processes.

· Investigate any discrepancies arising within the payments systems (e.g. payments not made, differences in sums paid, etc.) and address as necessary, keeping both budget holders and third parties informed.

· Develop & maintain an effective working relationship with all teams within the Charity, plus key partners at universities.

The Research and Projects Assistant will help to deliver projects and research that aim to improve how environmental funding is coordinated and distributed.

Location: Working from home (in the UK) with occasional travel to London and other parts of the UK for team days and events.

Salary: £30,000 pro rata

Contract: Fixed Term Contract for one year, subject to a six-month probationary period.

About the role

The Research and Projects Assistant is a new role supporting EFN’s strategic projects and research, and would suit someone looking to build their experience in these areas. The post-holder will play a key role in helping to deliver projects and research that aim to improve how environmental funding is coordinated and distributed.

Join SmellTaste and lead the development of the charity’s involvement in research, shaping how lived experience of those affected by smell and taste impairment is integrated in research projects. As Research Development and Engagement Manager, you will lead engagement with researchers, our patient community, and external partners to develop and support new research collaborations. • Lead the SmellTaste contribution to a 12-month National Institute of Health Research-funded Programme Development Grant, led by Prof Carl Philpott at the University of East Anglia (the ICAST Programme: Improving Care for patients with Smell & Taste Disorders).  
• Develop a Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) strategy for the above project, including evaluation of impact and dissemination

You will undertake research, investigations, monitoring, report-writing and advocacy on freedom of religion and human rights in Asia. You will develop a good relationship with stakeholders and ensure effective and creative ways to advance the research and advocacy on Asia.

• To plan, organise and undertake research, monitoring and reporting on freedom of religion or belief and related human rights issues in the Asia region, through regular fact-finding assignments when and where security conditions allow, briefings with key stakeholders and the development of reliable in-country and external partnerships and collaboration.

• To organise, as appropriate, advocacy visits for delegations in relation to the Asia region.

The Person

A committed Christian with a university degree and a strong commitment to human rights and justice, you will be fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (Manderin), have excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to take the initiative and to work well under pressure.

At SEA, all our work is grounded in evidence and shaped by the lived experiences of victim-survivors. As Research Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, survivor-centred research on economic abuse as part of a major new three-year project funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Working closely with the Senior Research Officer, colleagues across SEA, academic partners and external stakeholders, you will support research exploring coerced debt as a form of economic abuse and the responses to it across systems and services. The role will involve qualitative and quantitative research activities, including data collection, analysis, stakeholder engagement, and producing accessible and impactful research outputs.

Your work will help strengthen understanding of economic abuse and inform policy, practice and systems change on coerced debt that improves responses for victim-survivors.

You are a skilled researcher who is passionate about conducting high-quality research which can create real-world impact for victim-survivors of economic abuse.

You will have the ability to sensitively work with victim-survivors to learn about their lived experiences of economic abuse , including coerced debt, as well as the ability to conduct research with professional stakeholders.

Using your research skills, you will be able to analyse data, and will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of economic abuse in the context of intimate partner abuse, including of how perpetrators can misuse systems to enact abuse. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to deliver research projects in a timely manner and to communicate findings clearly to a range of stakeholders.

The Research and Events Coordinator will work alongside the Strategy and Projects Leads for Clean Energy Futures to manage engagement with the communities of practice that feed into our Clean Energy Futures work. This includes the Member Taskforce on Energy and the Multi-stakeholder Expert Group, comprised of cross-sector experts from business, academia and government.

The Coordinator will also contribute to project delivery through research into energy policy and practice and report writing, as well as joining programme strategy discussions in a strongly collaborative and non-hierarchical environment. We also anticipate the Coordinator working closely with our Insights Lead to conduct desk research and stakeholder interviews to deliver insights components of Sustainability Programme workstreams. 

After an initial 6-month period focused on Clean Energy Futures, there will be opportunities for the Coordinator to broaden their remit to other projects and topics within the Sustainability Programme.

Reflecting this breadth and the opportunities to grow, the Coordinator will initially report into the Director of Sustainability, who will provide guidance and mentoring support.

The ideal candidate is a highly organised, proactive and energetic individual who can demonstrate their knowledge and professional interest in sustainability and an understanding of the importance of consumers in the transition. • Project Coordination: Support the implementation of Sustainability Programme projects, with an initial focus on Clean Energy Futures. The overall work of Consumers International:

About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Research Manager to join on a full-time, permanent contract working 35 hours per week. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Senior Research Manager, you will lead our Research Grants & Involvement team, creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered and able to contribute their best work. In doing so, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our ambitious research strategy, ensuring that our research funding programme supports the highest quality dementia research, informed at every stage by those with lived experience.

You will lead a collaborative and purpose-driven team, working at the forefront of research that has the potential to transform lives. This is a highly visible and strategic role providing expert input across all aspects of dementia research, including our own funding portfolio, to contribute towards our organisational priorities.

You will use your knowledge of the dementia research landscape to identify emerging trends and opportunities and shape our research funding programme. Using your extensive experience in grants management, you will ensure that our funding schemes meet the needs of the dementia research community, that our processes align with best practice and ultimately, that the research we support achieves meaningful outcomes for those affected by dementia.

About you
Joining us, you’ll possess relevant experience or education qualification in a relevant biomedical or health discipline, with extensive experience in research grants management, ideally in a medical research charity or similar funding organisation.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have good knowledge of the UK research funding landscape and research ecosystem, ideally in dementia. You’ll also have experience of embedding or supporting public involvement in research, or working in a co-production environment.

Crucially, you’ll have experience leading, managing and developing high-performing teams. You’ll also be a good communicator, able to work strategically with senior stakeholders, build relationships, influence and negotiate with them.

- Contributing to shaping Alzheimer’s Society’s research strategy, defining priority research themes aligned with our overarching organisational strategy.

Essential Criteria

• You live in or near Hertfordshire and can travel regularly across the county
• You are confident and experienced communicating with the public, diverse communities, and senior leaders
• You have experience designing and delivering research questions, running focus groups, and crafting and analysing survey data
• You can write clear, engaging reports for health and care decision makers and the broader public, drawing recommendations from the insights

About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Research & Evidence to join our ambitious Research, Learning & Systems Change Team. 

Young Lives vs Cancer has a strong and growing commitment to changing the system for children and young people with cancer, and their loved ones. Our North Star vision and Time is Now Strategy focus on influencing how the wider system works – from services and policy to practice on the ground – so that families get the support they need.

The Head of Research and Evidence sits in the Research, Learning & Systems Change team, within our Innovation, Policy & Systems Change Directorate. The role is responsible for ensuring our work is grounded in strong, credible and useful evidence, and that learning is actively used to shape decisions, practice and change across the system.

This is a leadership role within a small but ambitious team. You will set direction and provide thought leadership, but you will also be hands on – designing, commissioning, managing and using research alongside colleagues and partners.

Building trusted relationships and using evidence to influence thinking and action are central. You will work with colleagues, children and young people, families, and partner organisations (such as the North Star Cancer Collective) to learn, strengthen credibility and create change.

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. You’ll work as part of a strong internal team, collaborating closely with colleagues across the organisation and with key external partners to generate, use and apply evidence that supports learning, influence and system change. • You’ll be setting the direction for research and learning, leading a clear and purposeful research programme focused on the psychosocial experiences of children and young people with cancer. You’ll ensure research is high‑quality, ethical and impactful, including commissioning work with partners and contributing to research funding bids.

• You’ll be understanding needs and experiences to grow a strong, credible evidence base, building and using robust evidence on need, inequality, impact and progress to inform strategy, services, policy and system change. You’ll ensure children, young people and families meaningfully shape research and that insight is shared in clear, practical ways.

• You’ll be providing system insight and leadership, analysing how the system works, identifying trends and pressures, and using evidence to guide where change is most needed. You’ll build trusted relationships across the voluntary sector, NHS and research community, sharing learning and strengthening our credibility and influence.

• You’ll be turning learning into action and influence, helping teams apply research to real‑world practice and supporting testing, learning and improvement over time. You’ll put feedback and learning loops in place and assess how research‑informed change is affecting practice and outcomes.

As Relationship Manager, you’ll build genuine, lasting connections with our Special Funds - our named funds created in honour or memory of someone affected by primary bone cancer, community supporters and local businesses. Your relationship-led approach will help create the family feel connections we’re known for, inspiring long-term support and raising vital income for people affected by primary bone cancer

You will:

• Grow and manage Special Funds, our named funds created in honour or memory of someone affected by primary bone cancer.
• Build strong, meaningful relationships with all our supporters, ensuring every person feels valued and connected.
• Secure and steward regional corporate partnerships
• Meet a regional income target of approx. £300,000
• Represent BCRT in your region, strengthening awareness and community connections at meetings and events.

About you:

• A natural relationship builder with 3+ years’ fundraising experience and a genuine passion for supporter care.
• Compassionate and professional, especially when working with families personally affected by primary bone cancer.
• Organised, proactive and confident working independently, able to balance a varied workload.
• A clear and engaging communicator, bringing warmth and positivity to every interaction.
• Able to travel across the region (car required).
