We are seeking a dynamic, experienced Director who will be responsible for the work of the charity within the UK. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of directing and leading a similar sized UK philanthropic organisation (or a fundraising team within a larger charity), including writing and implementing strategies and evaluating outcomes. Substantial experience of management of teams at both strategic and tactical level including developing skills, abilities, performance management and confidence in staff is required as are high level speaking skills.

Job Purpose
To support, promote and deliver the strategy of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (hereafter WAGGGS) within the Europe Region, by working with the Europe Regional Committee to ensure the delivery of the region’s value proposition to Member Organisations (MOs). The Global Legal Action Network (GLAN) works with affected communities to pursue innovative legal actions across borders to challenge states and other powerful actors involved in human rights violations and systemic injustice. Our actions address the most pressing instances of human rights concern and they fall within the following themes: War and occupation; accountability and supply chains; environmental and economic justice; and migration and border violence.
Since our establishment in 2016, we have developed legal strategies directly addressing human rights impacts in over 23 countries and territories. Our cases include the successful legal challenge against imports of cotton produced with forced labour in Xinjiang (East Turkistan) into the UK on behalf of World Uyghur Congress and the climate case against 32 European States before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights, brought on behalf of six Portuguese youth-applicants.

Our Policy and Public Affairs Officer connects with and influences politicians and senior decision makers to make society better for people who have mental health challenges, have mental illness and their families. They shall manage projects that shall lead to improvements in support for those with poor mental health.
Key Responsibilities
In this critical role you will work closely with the Director of Public Affairs and Communications to develop and implement a policy and influencing strategy to ensure that the voices of people we support, and their families are heard in all the places they need to be. You will manage projects related to mental health and provide reports.
You will build powerful relationships with politicians, civil servants and partners and feel comfortable representing the organisation at a range of different stakeholder events. You will love policy and public affairs, enjoy mastering details and offering sound advice. General Duties:
- To ensure that Change Mental Health have a robust policy and public affairs process in order, to respond to events and consultations, set up meetings with influencers, write briefings for those meetings and record our interactions on the Lobbying Register.
- Develop and implement a policy and public affairs strategy which means Change Mental Health engage with external stakeholders, have key messages disseminated and ensure that the voices of our members and the people we support are heard at all levels.
- Ensure that Change Mental Health’s Public Affairs and Stakeholder policies are kept relevant for our staff and promoted throughout the organisation.
- Collaborate on key communications documents and channels, including our newsletter, website and support the high-quality use of our social media channels.
- Manage projects that improve the outcomes of those with poor mental health and wellbeing. When agreed, engage with parliamentarians and stakeholders, representing Change Mental Health and advocating for our policy agenda
- Take ownership of policy developments in fields relevant to Change Mental Health’s work and ensure you are up to date and well informed of recent developments.
- Write briefings for the Director of Public Affairs and Communications, the CEO, and Board as needed.
- Write briefings for debates in Parliament and communicate with members of Parliaments.
- Write reports for projects relating to mental health and wellbeing.
- Organise and undertake the administration of events that support our policy platform whether that be events at party conferences, cross party groups, parliamentary receptions or other activity that support the charity.
- Network and build relationships with different stakeholders across the private, third and state sectors.
- Support the work of the National Rural Mental Health Forum, organising meetings and reporting on impact.

- Provide first point of contact HR advice and support to colleagues and line managers, ensuring all instances are recorded appropriately

- Support HR investigations and line managers with grievances, disciplinaries and other similar matters, recording meeting minutes and agreeing next steps.
- Liaise with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB; provides insurance and employment legal advice) on complex HR cases that require external input, either on behalf of or alongside relevant line manager(s)
- Oversee all HR policies and procedures, being guided by relevant internal data and industry best practice, and ensuring they are regularly reviewed
- Complete all required administrative tasks for new starters and colleagues leaving the organisation
- Processing and managing of maternity, paternity, and adoption in line with policies and best practice
- Running of monthly HR reports, to include sickness auditing and dissemination of relevant data to CEO and line managers, if required

Context
The Fundraising Department exists to grow and deepen productive relationships with our amazing supporters. We are driven to raise the money and partnerships needed to deliver CAP’s vision to see transformed lives, thriving churches and an end to UK poverty. The Supporter Development team is made up of the Fundraising and Engagement Leads and Officer, and is led by the Supporter Development Manager. The team works alongside our Supporter Care and Connection teams, and Communications Department to deliver a fantastic and rewarding supporter experience. The team’s scope includes regular giving income, appeals, legacies, fundraising events, festivals, sponsored events, supporter campaigning and supporter experience. We have incredible and committed supporters including over 28,000 Life Changers, who give to us on a monthly basis.
Purpose
The Fundraising & Engagement Leads plan and deliver a portfolio of programmes and projects aimed at growing income and deepening relationships with our supporters. The Fundraising and Engagement Leads has strategic ownership for key areas of fundraising. They work with the Supporter Development Manager to set strategic direction for that area, creating annual plans that will deliver our objectives and key results, and monitoring and evaluating results. They work cross organisationally, creating strategies and projects that align with CAPs vision and integrated messaging. They manage projects from briefing and ideation, creation and delivery, to monitoring and evaluation, maintaining productive and professional cross-organisational working relationships. They contribute to the team’s annual planning cycle and engage critically and collaboratively with each other to strengthen and align every area of our work.

The purpose of the role is to plan and deliver strategically the fundraising required for the ongoing success of NCO, enabling this important national music organisation to develop and deliver its mission.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy and Planning
Working with the Chief Executive and Development and Communications Committee to set and lead on the development of NCO’s development strategy, setting fundraising targets in line with strategic objectives.
Oversee all fundraising activity and report to the Chief Executive, NCO Board and Finance Committee on progress towards income targets.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, represent the Development function to ensure full account is taken of development potential whilst contributing towards the leadership and strategic direction of NCO.
Individual Giving
Lead on re-establishing NCO’s Individual Giving programme, drawing on the potential pipeline of current stakeholders (eg parents and alumni) and delegating to/working with the Development Team in its successful delivery.
Lead on new mid/major donor giving and relationships including legacies, personally managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.
Support the Development team to lead in the delivery of NCO’s annual giving programmes, ie Friends and Patrons.
Lead on individual campaigns, working collaboratively with the Development team to maximise opportunities to engage with new supporters through events and matched funding initiatives (eg The Big Give).
Work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to ensure the continued engagement and support of the NCO Board.
Trusts and Foundations
Lead on fundraising from Trusts & Foundations and other grant giving bodies (excluding statutory funding).
Research and cultivate existing and new funders, working with the Chief Executive, Board and the Development Team to initiate new partnerships and maintaining systems to ensure that those partnerships are successfully managed and sustained.
Prepare compelling major grant applications to secure new funding with sound attention to detail, and work with colleagues by leading and advising on other vital grant applications undertaken by members of the Development team, sharing best practice in fundraising to develop the organisation’s skills.
As part of the Development team, provide appropriate and timely monitoring information to trusts and foundations, as required by their conditions of support including, where appropriate, organising events and visits.
Corporate Fundraising
Lead the Development team on stewarding existing and cultivating new corporate sponsors and ensuring benefits and recognition are delivered across NCO’s marketing channels.
Statutory Funding
Support the Chief Executive and wider team to ensure that NCO fulfils its quarterly and annual reporting requirements to Arts Council England and the Department for Education and in the creation of new funding applications including as part of the next ACE Investment Review.
(NB: The day to day management and reporting requirements of NCO’s NPO and DfE grants will be managed by a newly appointed Business Administrator and overseen by the Chief Executive).
Organisation and Management
Line manage NCO’s Development Manager through individual objective setting and performance management, regular 1:1 meetings and identification of training needs.
Empower the Development team by ensuring they have regular opportunities to develop their skills and experience across different areas of fundraising and through training whilst supporting them wholeheartedly in their professional development.
Inspire and lead the Development team, and set an example, on the application, implementation and adherence to all NCO policies and procedures.
Support the Development team to lead on the development of NCO’s CRM System (Beacon) in specific relation to its fundraising functions, in line with the Data Protection Act.
Maximise the potential of Gift Aid from all donations, supporting the Development team to ensure all donations and payments received are appropriately logged, accompanied by appropriate paperwork and in line with annual audit requirements and submitted in a timely manner.
Produce Development reports for quarterly Board and Finance Committee meetings, attending online and in person as required.
Undertake research and maintain a high level of knowledge about trusts, foundations, individuals, and statutory funding to inform planning.
Represent NCO at conferences undertaking public and media presentations, attending conferences and events and lobbying forums as appropriate
