About Hope for the Young
Hope for the Young is on a mission to remove the obstacles to young refugees and asylum-seeker’s education and well-being through a bespoke package of one-to-one mentoring, advocacy, and financial support.
Founded in 2008, Hope for the Young has grown from a small grant-making charity led by its Trustees to an organisation that, last year, worked closely alongside 135 young people, with 11 staff members, and 150 dedicated volunteer mentors.
Our Mentoring Programme operates London-wide and matches young refugees and asylum-seekers aged 16-25 with trained volunteer mentors who provide tailored one-to-one support and advice according to their needs.
Our Grants and Advocacy Programme promotes equal access to education for young refugees and asylum-seekers across the UK whose immigration status makes them ineligible for student finance, and those who are facing extreme financial hardship. We provide educational bursaries that pay for tuition fees, living allowances, and travel expenses alongside tailored advocacy support and advice throughout their studies.
As we embark on our next 3-year strategy, we are seeking an exceptional and proactive leader who can oversee all aspects of our Fundraising and Communications at Hope for the Young, bring fresh ideas, and drive the organisation forward.
About the Role
As our Fundraising and Communications Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission and expanding our impact so that more young refugees can access the education and one-to-one support they need to rebuild their lives in the UK. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic fundraising campaigns, cultivating relationships with donors and supporters, writing funding applications, and effectively communicating our message to a range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies to generate substantial income towards Hope for the Young’s programmes.
- Cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations to build diverse and sustainable income streams.
- Draft high-quality funding applications to trusts, foundations and statutory sources, working with external consultants as required.
- Plan and oversee fundraising events, campaigns, and appeals, ensuring maximum engagement and participation.
- Provide excellent donor stewardship through high-quality updates and monitoring reports, face-to-face meetings, and other key communications.
- Create compelling content for our website, impact reports, newsletters, videos, and social media to enhance brand awareness and drive donor engagement.
- Shape the fundraising and communications team through recruiting and managing new staff members, consultants, and volunteers where required.
- Collaborate with our team and young people to develop impactful storytelling initiatives that highlight the experiences and achievements of young refugees.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising and communications efforts, making data-driven decisions to optimise outcomes.
- Take responsibility for ensuring donor records are up to date on our database (Salesforce) for effective supporter communications and engagement.
About you
- Proven experience in a similar role with a track record of generating substantial income from new and existing donors.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for storytelling and crafting compelling narratives.
- Extensive trust fundraising experience including researching, drafting, and submitting funding applications and overseeing multiple reporting deadlines.
- Outstanding interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build, inspire, and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders including foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and corporate partners.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and fundraising software.
- Highly organised, proactive, and self-motivated, with a ‘can do’ approach and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Main purpose and scope of the role:
Parentkind is a national charity and we work across all four nations of the United Kingdom and the devolved institutions and governments.
The successful candidate would be expected to support our work in Northern Ireland and have demonstrable experience of the political system in Northern Ireland.
In addition to their work in Northern Ireland the successful candidate will support the wider aims of the Policy and Research Department across the UK.
We are the voice of parents in education, we represent 13,000 Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) and have an ambition to develop an internal parent ‘think tank’ within the organisation.
This is an exciting role if you have a passion for politics, a background in policy research and interested in education policy and politics.
The role will involve conducting research on education policy and making policy recommendations based on that research. Some research will be time sensitive and involve summarising information and presenting it in an easy to understand way. There will be longer research projects to support the charity to develop policy positions and maintain our position as a strong voice for parents in education.
Alongside the research requirements of the role, you will be expected to support our political and broader stakeholder engagement activity to make sure the work we do is understood and seen by the right people.
You will have experience of working with political stakeholders in Northern Ireland and a strong understanding of the political structures and processes in Northern Ireland, as well as experience in political engagement to promote research and policy recommendations.

Duties and key responsibilities
Policy research and analysis
- To conduct research on education policy in Northern Ireland under the guidance of the Director of Policy and Research.
- To produce summarise large amounts of information and produce briefing material on education policy for external audiences, often at pace.
- To provide political monitoring and advice for the department, to include:
- debates and questions in the Northern Ireland Assembly
- future business across in the Northern Ireland Assembly,
- policy development.
- To provide rapid briefing material for any relevant future business in the Northern Ireland Assembly

- To support the development of parent surveys to related to our policy work.

Political engagement
- To organise policy led events, such as roundtable discussions or meetings of politicians across all U.K. legislatures and experience of managing political events.
- To identify political stakeholders relevant to our work in Northern Ireland, including:
- officials inside government departments,

- To maintain a wide range of political contacts and meet with political stakeholders to promote our research and policy work.

Whilst The Forward Trust is predominantly funded through Government contracts, our Fundraising Team is responsible for generating £2.5 million per year from a diverse range of charitable sources including Trusts and Foundations, Corporate supporters, Individual donors and Events.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic consultancy
- Responsible for leading high-quality strategic consultancy work with charities, corporates, private clients, trusts and foundations and public sector alongside other senior advisers.
- Lead day-to-day management of key client assignments including project and resource management as well as delivery.
- Responsible for delivery of high-quality written assignments to clients.
- Present invaluable and practical strategic advice and insight to senior leadership in charities, corporates or public sector as well as (ultra) high net worth individuals.
- Work in close collaboration with grant making and social investment colleagues to deliver a fully bespoke, impactful offering to clients.
Strategy and leadership
- Lead and mentor team of advisers, providing guidance and training, supported by robust performance management and personal development opportunities in line with strategy.
- Implement and refine where necessary advisory strategy in conjunction with other senior advisers and Head of Impact and Advisory.
- Ensure alignment with CAF’s theory of change and delivery against identified outputs and outcomes.
- Work with Growth and Performance Lead on operational and process needs relating to advisory and the Impact Accelerator more generally.
- Contribute to strategic Impact Accelerator initiatives where necessary.
Business development and client development
- Responsible for driving growth and innovation in CAF’s advisory offering, ensuring it remains relevant in an ever-changing world and aligned with client needs.
- Identify key opportunities to grow fee income, lead proposals/pitches and contribute proportionally to team fee income targets.
- Work closely with business development function and cultivate relationships with other key referral partners within CAF and externally.
- Lead retention and growth of CAF clients through effective client management - focus on multi-year, multi service contracts that combine advisory, grant making and social investment expertise.
Thought leadership and training
- Mentor and upskill other members of the Impact Accelerator team as well as other colleagues where relevant, sharing expertise and skills both informally and formally. Promote CAF externally as a thought leader and a partner of choice for donors and charities alike.
- Represent CAF at events, share best practice, produce thought leading articles and maintain relevant sector networks.
- Work with colleagues in the UK and across the CAF global network to maximise opportunities and to share learning and best practice.

Our high-achieving Philanthropy Team is looking to recruit a Philanthropy Manager to help grow our donor portfolio and further increase philanthropic income for the RSPB. We are looking for an experienced major gifts fundraiser to join our friendly and hard-working team who will help us achieve our ambitious goals.
You will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of prospects and donors through a range of engagement, to gain their financial support for programmes, projects and the wider RSPB. Working with colleagues in relevant departments, countries and regions, you will manage donor relationships and solicitation strategies to achieve the best outcome for the RSPB
What's the role about?
As a team player with a positive and diligent approach, you will:
- Look after your own portfolio of donors as well as reaching out to prospects and new donors. You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
- Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
- Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
- Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
- Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
- Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
- Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
- Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
- Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
- Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
- Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained

We are now looking for a Senior Director to lead our SASHA Coalition.
What’s the role?
The Skies And Seas Hydrogen-fuels Accelerator (SASHA) Coalition aims to unify aviation and shipping to raise awareness of the vital role of green hydrogen and carbon dioxide from direct air capture in the decarbonisation of these two sectors. The Coalition is now well established with 5 exciting company members on the cutting edge of climate innovation. We are now moving into the next phase of work and are seeking to recruit a Senior Director to ensure that the Coalition achieves maximum impact. As Senior Director, you will have the opportunity to shape the decarbonisation of two large sectors: aviation and shipping. You could be instrumental in helping move these sectors to truly sustainable fuels, side-stepping non-solutions like biofuels and LNG. This is a fantastic role for someone who wants to combine their passions for supporting ambitious companies in their climate journey with directing and shaping policy.
You will manage a team of brilliant policy and corporate engagement experts as they work with the SASHA Coalition’s membership and seek to influence policymakers. We are looking for someone who can think strategically about growing the Coalition to ensure it maintains its ambition while increasing membership.
You will report to the Chief Strategy & Impact Officer (though in the immediate term to the CEO during a period of parental leave). The team will be growing over the next year and you will have the chance to direct the growth of the team. With elections approaching in the UK and the EU, you will also shape and execute the strategy to influence the next UK Government and EU Commission.
