Key Responsibilities
Story Research

• Conduct responsible research to verify facts and context
• Identify individuals or sources willing to share their story
Interviews & Story Development
• Conduct interviews via online platforms or in person where appropriate
• Develop stories in a respectful, trauma-informed way
• Work with the editorial lead to shape stories into publishable content
Ethical Journalism
• Prioritise consent, confidentiality, and safeguarding
• Ensure stories are handled with care and sensitivity
• Protect the dignity and safety of individuals sharing their experiences
Reporting Output
• Aim to produce one story per month or at an agreed pace

Stories Volunteer
Do you love the challenge of telling a good story? Do you enjoy listening to other people and learning about their experiences? We’re looking for a great communicator with a flair for the written word to help us develop a bank of stories about our volunteers.
We have more than 2000 volunteers who help us deliver life-changing services, raise money and campaign for change. Our volunteers have a wealth of experiences, backgrounds and stories to tell. We’re looking to capture these stories so we can recognise and demonstrate the impact our volunteers have and share the news of their amazing contribution.
Suggested Involvement: Flexible and ongoing. Approximately 1-2 stories per month.

Main Tasks
Interviewing volunteers by phone or video call
Writing up volunteer stories engagingly for various channels e.g. social media, Shelter website, intranet and our volunteer newsletter

Main tasks
We need individuals who can manage a group of volunteers within their region and work with Human Appeal staff members to ensure volunteers’ active involvement in events and campaigns.
Recruit new volunteers and lead current volunteers who will be allocated to your team
Communicate important campaign-related information to your team
Organise 2 Fundraising events or community projects with your team within an assigned budget in the year.
Actively attend and participate in Team Leader meetings and complete any actions allocated to you E.g Recruiting volunteers for online fundraising.
Work with the Human Appeal staff team to deliver campaigns and 2 in-person events for the year.
Organise and attend Monthly Meetings with your Volunteers
Where possible, support with Team Leader recruitment by joining the interviewing panel
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
We will provide you with the tools, training and support you need but here are a few things we are looking for:
Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing, innovation and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn and develop as an individual and accept constructive feedback
