Digital Champion

What You’ll Do

Support people aged 50+ to build confidence with their phones, tablets, or computers. You’ll help them learn basic digital skills so they can stay connected and independent.

You will:

• Provide one-to-one support at Digital sessions
• Help with everyday tasks like email, Zoom, downloading apps
• Guide people to feel confident using their own devices
• Answer questions and troubleshoot problems
• Record support sessions on Charity Log
• Identify common digital needs and refer to extra resources if needed

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

• Confident using smartphones, tablets, and laptops
• Friendly and patient teaching style
• Clear communication
• Problem-solving and adaptability
• Good timekeeping and dependability

Time Commitment

Tuesdays 11:00 am – 1:00 pm (Dugdale Arts Centre)

Other weekdays between 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Location: Dugdale Centre, 39 London Rd, Enfield EN2 6DS

Possibly some community groups across Enfield
Reports to: Digital Inclusion Lead

The Baked Bean Charity is looking for dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Board of Trustees as we embark on a period of strategy development.

This is a unique opportunity to use your skills and expertise to help shape the future of a vibrant charity that supports more than 170 people with learning disabilities every week.

We're Looking For People Who:

• Are committed to improving opportunities for people with learning disabilities
• Have strong relationship-building and networking skills
• Bring a proactive approach and a willingness to contribute
• Can dedicate approximately 2–3 hours per month to trustee responsibilities.

Skills and Experience We Need

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising
• Charity or business development
• Marketing and communications
• Legal services
• Human Resources

Previous experience as a charity trustee is welcomed but not essential.

What We're Looking For

Successful candidates will:

• Understand the responsibilities and legal duties of charity trustees
• Be passionate about equality, inclusion, and empowering people with learning disabilities
• Be committed to making decisions that put the needs of our service users first
• Support our mission of delivering outstanding, person-centred services

Time Commitment

• Board meetings take place approximately every 6 weeks
• Meetings last approximately 2 hours
• Most meetings alternate between online and in person in Wimbledon
• The role is voluntary and unpaid, although reasonable expenses can be reimbursed

The Baked Bean Charity is a vibrant and innovative organisation dedicated to promoting social inclusion for people with learning disabilities.

Our wide-ranging activities include:

• Dance, Drama, Choir and DJing
• Zumba, Boxing and other sports activities
• Social clubs, holidays and community events
• Theatre in Education programmes that help businesses, schools and community organisations improve understanding, accessibility and inclusion
• Fledgling Film and TV agency

Everything we do is centred around helping people achieve their goals, build confidence, develop friendships and live happy, fulfilled lives.

Based in Wandsworth, we support people from across South London and surrounding boroughs, creating opportunities, breaking down barriers and challenging preconceptions every day.

Amour Destiné CIC is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our voluntary Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your professional expertise, lived experience and strategic thinking to help shape the future of an award-winning, survivor-led organisation supporting Black African, Carribean and Mixed Heritage women, girls and families affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, harmful practices and other forms of gender-based violence.

As a Board Director, you will play a vital role in providing strategic leadership, strengthening good governance and helping Amour Destiné continue to grow sustainably while remaining true to our survivor-led values, mission and the communities we serve.

What You'll Do

As a Board Member, you will:

• Provide strategic leadership, direction and oversight.
• Support the Chief Executive Officer while maintaining appropriate governance and accountability.
• Ensure strong governance, sound decision-making and compliance with legal and regulatory responsibilities.
• Support the organisation's financial sustainability and long-term growth.
• Contribute your professional expertise to Board discussions and strategic planning.
• Act as an ambassador for Amour Destiné and champion our mission and values.
• Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and survivor-centred practice throughout the organisation.
• Build positive relationships with partners, funders and stakeholders where appropriate.
• Uphold the legal duties and responsibilities of a Company Director.

Previous Board experience is welcomed but not essential. We are committed to supporting new Trustees and Board Directors through a comprehensive induction and ongoing development.

Expenses

This is a voluntary Board position.

Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst undertaking Board duties will be reimbursed in accordance with Amour Destiné's Expenses Policy.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we encourage early applications. We reserve the right to close recruitment early should sufficient suitable applications be received.

Successful shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview with members of the Board and the CEO. References, eligibility checks and any other appropriate pre-appointment checks will be completed before an appointment is confirmed.
