Role Summary:

The Fundraising Lead for Roots Academy Canada will be responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies to support the expansion of Roots Academy’s programs.

This role is critical in ensuring that Roots Academy has the financial resources needed to deliver high-quality Islamic education to communities around the world.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission of Roots Academy, skilled in engaging donors and securing funding through various channels, and able to build lasting relationships with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

• Develop and implement a dynamic fundraising plan that includes a variety of strategies tailored to Roots Academy’s target audiences, including university MSAs, mosques, and Islamic organisations.

• Identify and build partnerships with key community organisations, MSAs, and Islamic centres to create collaborative fundraising opportunities.

• Stay adaptable to emerging opportunities for funding, leveraging both traditional and innovative approaches to engage and attract potential donors.

Relationship Building:

• Actively engage with MSAs, Islamic centres, and community organisations to establish Roots Academy as a cause worth supporting and to cultivate long-term donor relationships.

• Collaborate with MSAs and community partners to organise local fundraising events, campaigns, and other initiatives that resonate with the community.

• Serve as a liaison between Roots Academy and these partner organisations to foster a spirit of collaboration and mutual support.

• Work closely with MSAs and community organisations to retain donors by creating meaningful engagement opportunities and maintaining a sense of involvement with Roots Academy’s mission.

Campaign Management:

• Lead and coordinate diverse fundraising campaigns, including online initiatives, MSA-driven campaigns, and in-person events like benefit dinners and community gatherings.

• Work with Roots Academy’s marketing team to create campaign materials and digital content, ensuring that each initiative is tailored to engage and inspire potential donors.

• Coordinate and oversee logistics for events, ensuring a smooth and impactful experience for all participants and maximising fundraising outcomes.

Tracking and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, donor interactions, and campaign outcomes to ensure transparency and accountability.

• Provide regular reports to the leadership team on fundraising efforts, adapting strategies as needed based on campaign performance and community feedback.

• Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of different fundraising approaches, enabling continuous improvement in future efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Fundraising Experience: Proven experience in developing and executing successful fundraising strategies, particularly for nonprofit organisations, educational initiatives, or Islamic institutions.

• Community-Oriented: A deep understanding of the Muslim community in Canada, especially in relation to university students and local mosques.

• Relationship Building: Proven experience in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.

• Project Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to support program delivery efficiently.

• Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, from students to community leaders.

• Commitment to Ihsaan: This role requires someone who strives to deliver their responsibilities with ihsaan.

• Dedication to Service: A heart for khidma (service), and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young Muslims through education.

Please note this is an unpaid volunteer position. 

Volunteers are entitled to claim expenses incurred for food, travel and equipment, in line with our Expenses policy. 

 We create sensory activities, challenges and games featuring our bespoke disabled characters and take them to a variety of events and other organisations. And this is where you come in! We need volunteers to do lots of different jobs from big too small. Whether it's preparing activities, setting up, speaking to people or helping pack up, there's plenty to do.

Sea Cadets Leith, based in Prince of Wales Docks, is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our committee team. Whether you chair the committee, run our social media, or help us fundraise on an ad-hoc basis, you’ll be supporting young people to access opportunities to create life-long memories and friendships.

At Leith we aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. We offer a range of different activities from sailing, windsurfing and powerboating - to rock climbing, camping, and music - plus, so much more!

Leith is a long-established Sea Cadet Unit that has provided life-changing opportunities for many young people. We currently have 24 cadets who come from all over the area. Our cadets come from all walks of life, with some experiencing adverse childhood events, and limited access to social youth groups. Without support from volunteers like you, our charity cannot provide the adventure, community, and opportunities that young people experience through the Sea Cadets.

The primary purpose of the CFAV is to assist in the development of young people as
Individuals and active citizens by providing safe and rewarding training, direction and guidance.
The secondary purposes of a CFAV are:
- Maintain the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) values
- Assist the Unit Training Officer (UTO) to plan a varied training programme.
- Safely and securely maintain the unit’s resources and equipment.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a pioneering Open-Source Platform Engineer to join our founding volunteer team. This role is central to building and maintaining the digital infrastructure that will power our survivor-led, community-owned membership ecosystem for 2026 and beyond. You will be directly shaping the systems that enable vulnerable and marginalised communities to access resources, engage safely and participate in transformative personal development.

Purpose of the role:

The Volunteer Open-Source Platform Engineer contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of open-source software platforms that support the organisation’s mission. This role involves collaborating with developers, contributors and stakeholders to build scalable, reliable and efficient solutions while ensuring code quality, security and accessibility.

About the Role:

As our Open-Source Platform Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the core technology stack for our membership platform, ensuring it is secure, scalable, and aligned with open-source principles. You will work closely with the Membership Director, Technical Systems Liaison, and other team members to integrate community-facing tools, data systems, and collaborative features that support our anti-capitalist, values-led mission. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role where your technical expertise directly enables social change.

Experience Qualification and Requirements

Essential Technical Competencies:

• Experience designing, integrating and maintaining APIs, as well as managing secure authentication and data practices.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted and on-premises system environments, including deployment and maintenance.
• Proven experience in open-source development, software engineering or systems architecture.
• Ability to clearly document technical processes, system workflows and platform architecture.
• Skilled at communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Contributing to open-source projects or collaborative software development initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities to debug code, optimise performance and implement improvements.

Second Tree works in a transparent way, in a challenging and changeable situation in the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital. 

Your role would include:

The possible tasks included below are not exhaustive or rigidly defined; an exact role profile is dependent on the skill set of individual applicants. An average day might see you talking to students in a camp to tell them about a new class, or supporting the writing of a grant proposal. Tasks could loosely fall within 4 key areas:

Programmes

• Supporting programme coordinators in maintaining the day to day running of their activities with the Youth or Adult Education Programmes

• Supporting our children’s teachers or workshop facilitators in the planning or delivery of classes or excursions outside of camps

• Communicating key messages about our programmes to our students in camps

Admin, Finance & Logistics

• Supporting our management team in liaising with external partners

• Maintaining organisation-wide financial processes

• Coordinating the arrival and housing of incoming team members

Grants & Partnerships

• Supporting in the identification of relevant grants

About Us

Mind of the Student is a youth mental health charity that works with schools, young people, and families to support emotional wellbeing and improve mental health awareness.

Our programmes include EmpowerU, Empowering Young Minds, school mental health workshops, Mind of the Parent, and Ambassador Training. Through these projects, we aim to create safe spaces where young people feel heard, supported, and empowered.

The Role

We are looking for Programme Support Volunteers to support our delivery team during workshops, school sessions, and community programmes.

This is a supportive role where volunteers work alongside a Project Lead or Lead Facilitator to help sessions run smoothly. Volunteers will not be expected to deliver content, but will play an important part in supporting students, helping manage group activities, maintaining appropriate ratios, and contributing to a positive environment during sessions.

This role would suit someone interested in mental health, youth work, education, psychology, counselling, or anyone looking to gain experience working with young people.

Responsibilities

Basis Yorkshire is seeking a committed and values-driven individual to join our Board of Trustees as Treasurer. This is an opportunity to support a long-standing, specialist organisation working alongside sex workers and people experiencing sexual exploitation across Yorkshire.

Basis has over three decades of experience delivering trauma-informed, non-judgemental support, advocacy, outreach and education. We work with people across all sectors of the sex industry, as well as young people and adults at risk of or experiencing sexual exploitation. Our approach is rooted in dignity, agency, social justice and harm reduction, with the voices and experiences of the people we support at the centre of everything we do.

As Treasurer Trustee, you will play a key role in supporting the Board’s oversight of the charity’s financial health, sustainability and governance. While professional financial qualifications are not required, we are looking for someone who is confident in scrutinising financial information, asking constructive questions, and contributing to strategic decision-making.

We are particularly interested in individuals who share our commitment to challenging stigma and inequality, and who can bring thoughtful, independent judgment to Board discussions. Previous experience in the voluntary or community sector, safeguarding, or connections to strategic networks in Leeds would be welcomed.

Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Board meetings, contribute to working groups where possible, and engage with role-specific matters between meetings. An enhanced DBS check will be required and arranged by Basis.

Sexpression:UK provides high quality, comprehensive relationships and sex education workshops to young people between the ages of 11-18 in schools and youth groups. We operate across the UK through our unique network of affiliated branches and volunteers based at universities and students’ unions in 15 towns and cities.

You will have strong empathy with our mission to educate and empower young people to make individual, informed decisions about their bodies and their health. You will be committed to using your expertise to contribute to the future development of the charity and ensuring high quality governance of the organisation.

We are looking for a motivated individual with demonstrable experience in leadership or governance to join our board as Chair of Trustees.This is an exciting time to join our charity with the opportunity to contribute to a unique youth-led charity playing a leading role in some of today’s biggest issues.

Location: Hybrid

Salary: Unpaid 

Commitment: 10- 15 hours per week, work can be done at times to suit you with occasional time bound interviews and team meetings scheduled to suit your schedule (corporate speak for: ‘we’ll ask when works for you first!’)

Job Description 

• Design social media graphics, flyers, posters, and promotional materials
• Help manage and grow our social media platforms
• Create engaging content that supports our mission and campaigns
• Assist with branding and online awareness initiatives
• Contribute creative ideas for community engagement

What We’re Looking For

• Basic to advanced skills in graphic design tools such as Canva, Photoshop, or Illustrator
• Familiarity with social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn
• Creativity, reliability, and good communication skills
• Passion for nonprofit/community work
• Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines

Note: This role has been designed for 6 months potentially more to support in building our systems and process but we would love to have you longer if it works for us both.

• This is a fast paced, think on your feet kind of job so if perfect if you have bucket loads of enthusiasm and energy and like to learn on the go.

• You gotta be hyper organised and shit hot at time management. 

• Need to have a team player mindset for this role, a huge part of it is making sure everyone is excited, engaged and on the same page.
