The objective of Spotlight on Africa (“SoA ”) is to improve the livelihoods and opportunities of those in need in Africa through the following activities:

- Improved healthcare

- Access to education

- Improved access to water, sanitation and hygiene

- Economic empowerment through relevant skills training

To achieve its charitable purposes SoA provides grants to Spotlight on Africa-Uganda Foundation (“SoA UF”), a registered international NGO in Uganda (“SoA UF”) who execute the work and manage the activities in Eastern Uganda.

In this region we’ve built two primary schools serving 1,400 children, a health clinic treating 50,000 patients annually, and a maternity hospital delivering 1,250 babies safely each year and drilled 50 deep boreholes supplying clean water to 40,000 people. We have also built two Technology centres that provide teachers, students, health workers, and tradespeople with essential digital skills and alternative career prospects in the region which is particularly important for women. We also provide vocational training in carpentry, tailoring, agriculture, hairdressing, and borehole maintenance.

SoA continues to grow and in 2025-26 raised over £1 million from donations and fundraising events. It has strong governance provided by its UK Board of Trustees that is chaired by a King’s Counsel and by the Board of SoA-UF and its patrons who include the former Chief Justice of Uganda and the Ugandan Ambassador to the UK.

The role

As Treasurer you will chair our Finance, Risk and Audit Committee and act as the Charity’s lead voice on financial matters. Working closely with the Chair, Assistant Treasurer and SoA-UF’s Executive Director and Accountant you will help ensure SoA remains financially resilient, well-governed and delivering value by:

· Finance — overseeing our planning, budgeting and reporting processes including KPIs; guiding the Trustees and SoA-UF Board in reviewing the monthly management accounts, performance KPIs, approving annual accounts; advising on the financial implications of strategic decisions; and liaising with our external auditors.

· Risk management — providing oversight of our internal controls, financial control framework and risk register, and ensuring appropriate insurance and anti-fraud arrangements are in place. Actively managing foreign exchange risks and maximising interest income from deposits. Close stewardship and oversight of the application of grants to SoA-UF through to expenditure on its charitable activities.

· Governance — chairing the Finance Committee, leading the Trustees’ duty to ensure proper financial stewardship, and supporting compliance with Charity Commission and other regulatory requirements. Also supporting SoA-UF Board in ensuring they provide proper financial stewardship and compliance with local laws and regulations.

Who we are looking for

You will be a qualified accountant with strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial information clearly for a Board audience. Beyond the technical qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings:

· Experience of organisational risk management and internal controls, ideally from an international perspective

· A solid understanding of charity governance, trusteeship and the legal duties of a trustee

· Proven ability to communicate and explain financial information to non-finance colleagues and stakeholders

· The leadership skills to chair the Finance committee and bring people together around shared goals

· Willingness for occasional to travel to our projects in Africa

Above all, you will share our belief that we can deliver sustained change that transforms the lives of those of the poorest of the poor in Africa through our charitable activities.

About the role:

· This is a voluntary, unremunerated role but with reimbursement of travel and other related expenses.

· The time commitment is:

o Monthly SoA Trustee meetings and Quarterly SoA-UF Board meetings

o Monthly Finance meetings with the SoA Chair, SoA Assistant Treasurer, SoA-UF Chairman, SoA-UF Executive Director and SoA Accountant

o An annual UK away day strategy session (weekend day)

o Additional time (average 10 hours a month) for preparing reports, liaising with the Assistant Treasurer, managing FX and deposits and ad hoc matters

The initial term of office is three years but can be extended by mutual agreement.

Role Overview

As a Production Assistant, you will support the Video Production Manager and team in all stages of video production, focusing primarily on the pre and production phase. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our video projects are well-planned and executed smoothly. You will be involved in tasks ranging from script writing to stage setting, ensuring that all necessary preparations are in place for successful video production.
 

Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Video Production Manager to develop and refine scripts for various video projects, conducting research to gather relevant information and insights to inform script content and invite guests when necessary.

• Assist in planning and setting up stages for video shoots, including arranging props, lighting, and other necessary equipment, and coordinate with the production team to ensure all stage elements are in place.

• Work with the Video Production Manager to create detailed production schedules and timelines, and coordinate with cast, crew, and other stakeholders to ensure everyone is informed of shoot dates and times.

• Assist in identifying and securing suitable locations for video shoots, conducting site visits to assess the suitability of locations and addressing any logistical considerations.

Can you help us by providing a calm, safe, and caring environment for our small furries whilst we find them their fur-ever home?

Often when we think about animal fostering, cats, and dogs spring to mind, but have you ever thought about fostering our smaller animals? The RSPCA received more than 5,000 reports last year about rabbits and other small furries relating to neglect or abandonment and rescued an average of 340 small furries a month! To help us with the rehoming of these small animals, we are actively looking to add to our fantastic team of volunteer fosterers.

As a small animal fosterer, you would play an essential role in providing the animals in our care with a temporary home whilst they are being rehomed. Like us, even small furries have specific needs and requirements, but rest assured, once we have guided you through the fostering process the animal centre will ensure that you have all the necessary guidance, equipment, food, and veterinary care.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Provide them with care, safe suitable housing, and space for playtime, as outlined in our policies and guidelines.

• Ensure that they are groomed if appropriate and fed and watered.

• Provide them with suitable and clean bedding to keep them cosy.

• Give them lots of attention and plenty of cuddles as they are very sociable animals.

What We’re Looking For:

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience of caring for animals.

• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.

• For their wellbeing, our small furries may need to be fostered in pairs, so please bear this in mind.

• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).

• You should be located in South Buckinghamshire or within a reasonable distance.

What we need from you

This is a highly flexible role, and you can choose how you’d like to get involved. Opportunities include:

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping at fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, and monitoring collection tins
• Online fundraising – setting up online appeals and writing engaging cat case studies to maximise donations
• Marketing and promotion – spreading the word about fundraising activities via social media and local press
• Administration – processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, and completing Gift Aid paperwork
• Championing our work – helping to develop new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• Photography – capturing images of cats in care, cats we’re helping, fundraising events, and all things Cats Protection

The Cyber Helpline is a charity founded by the cybersecurity community to ensure no one faces cybercrime alone.

We provide free, expert support to individuals affected by cybercrime, digital fraud and online harm, helping them understand what has happened, secure their accounts and devices, recover safely and regain control.

Since launching, we have supported more than 100,000 people through our helpdesk and millions more through accessible self-help guidance. Every month, more than 25,000 people access our self-help service for practical advice and support.

We bridge the gap between technical cyber response and human support, combining expert digital guidance with empathy, clarity and care.

As demand for our services grows, we are investing in a stronger brand, marketing and audience engagement to ensure more people can find us when they need us, and more supporters can help sustain and grow our work.

Role Summary

The Company Secretary is the guardian of The Cyber Helpline’s compliance with both the law and best practice. The Company Secretary will play a key role in ensuring that Board procedures are followed and regularly reviewed. Acting as a resource for the Board, the Company Secretary will also provide guidance on Board members' responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

The Company Secretary will be responsible for the following:

• Ensuring the charity operates in accordance with its governing document, the Charities Act, and the Companies Act 2006. Advising the board on their duties and on any legal and regulatory changes.

• Being the subject matter expert on charity law and regulation within the Board. 

• Organising, attending, and taking minutes at trustee meetings (board and sub-committees), including preparing agendas and circulating papers.

• Supporting the trustees by commissioning papers and other work required by the board, recording and tracking progress of actions agreed

• Ensuring all mandatory returns, including the annual report and financial statements, are filed on time with Companies House and the Charity Commission.

• Informing the Charity Commission of any significant changes in the charity’s structure or management, for example, the appointment or resignation of Trustees.

• Assisting with the recruitment, induction, and training of new trustees, and managing conflict-of-interest registers.

• Maintaining accurate records, including the register of members and trustees, the register of any charges on the company’s assets and managing high-level correspondence.

• Maintaining the charity's registered office as the address for any formal communications. Ensuring that all the charity’s business stationery carries its name, registered number, country of registration and registered address. 

• Ensuring the security of the charity’s legal documents and owning the charity’s policy for the filing and retention of documents.

• Ensuring The Cyber Helpline has adequate insurance in place. 

• Ensuring the charity is compliant with relevant UK law & regulation. 

• Supporting the protection of intellectual property. 

Person Specification

This role would suit either someone in a Company Secretary role or someone with aspirations to become one. We are happy to support someone looking to make the transition into this role.

Essential Experience

• Experience of auditing against standards and policies. 

• Experience consulting with subject matter experts on complex issues. 

• Strong attention to detail. 

• Strong planning, organisation and analytical skills. 

• Strong communication skills. 

• Ability to turn theoretical models and guidance into practical frameworks that achieve results. 

• Ability to deliver project work, as well as communicate and plan at a strategic level. 

• Strong integrity and honesty. 

• Passionate about our mission of supporting victims of cybercrime. 

Preferred experience

• An understanding of or experience in the cyber security industry. 

• Experience in the not-for-profit / charity sector.

• Membership (or on path to membership) of any of the following bodies:

  • the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales

  • the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland

  • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

  • the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland

  • the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators

  • the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants

  • or the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting

• Be a barrister, advocate or solicitor called, admitted or part-qualified, in any part of the UK

Additional Requirements

Candidates must be 18 years old or older and resident in the UK with the right to work in the UK. 

Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check (e.g. DBS). This is because the role involves access to sensitive information. Any disclosures will be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with relevant legislation.

Engagement: Trustee meetings are quarterly (three remote and one in-person). The individual will provide additional time as required, we expect this to be between 2-4 hours a week for 42 weeks of the year.

Experience

• Experience raising significant funds from private sector sources; for example institutional funds, impact investment, corporate trusts, private trusts.
• Experience of successfully using influence to bring about a result for an organisation or cause; 
• An understanding of the type of work undertaken by CBM UK, which could include business, government, international development, human rights, civil society or other not for profit sectors; 
• Experience as a Trustee or Chair of a Board is desirable.

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) is a dedicated charity specialising in independent advocacy within the community. Our mission is to empower individuals by helping them express their needs, secure their rights, and access essential services while promoting social inclusion and justice.

We are seeking passionate Volunteers to join our team at SWAN in East Sussex. As a Volunteer, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to develop essential self-advocacy skills and confidence. Your contributions will help ensure that individuals can voice their needs and receive the assistance they require.

SWAN appreciates that life experience can make you the ideal volunteer for a role such as this. We are keen to hear from people who have lived experience and would like to help empower others.

Do you have the following skills and experience:

• Experience working with people who are described as vulnerable, or who have additional support needs.
• Good communication suitable for a wide variety of people, some of whom may have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health issues or have been assessed as lacking capacity.
• A commitment to the belief that everyone has a right to be heard, have choice and control, to be safe from harm and to live the life they choose.

Description

You'll be raising awareness, & improving understanding of sight loss through delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions in your local community. Through these engaging sessions, you'll inspire participants to make small changes to their behaviour that make a massive difference in the day-to-day lives of people with sight loss. As a Community Change Champion, this will involve:

• Talking directly with community leaders, businesses, & local groups about ways they can get involved & inviting them to join an Awareness to Action session.
• Delivering RNIB’s Awareness to Action sessions either in person or online, using our resources. You may do this on your own or with a team of other local volunteers, both sighted and with sight loss.
• Sharing RNIB’s information & initiatives so people know we’re here for them.
• If you have a personal link to sight loss, sharing your experience during the session to help give a tangible example of how local people can make a real difference.
• Telling us about any activities you have engaged in via a Microsoft form.

What will you gain from the role?
• First-hand experience in grassroots community engagement & charity outreach.
• The opportunity to develop communication & networking skills.
• Support to learn & or use presentation skills to deliver the Awareness to Action Session in person and virtually.
