The Director of Public Affairs will work with the CEO and Senior Management Team to raise our profile and influence policy, unlock and steward resource and build new partnerships, in order to facilitate growth in impact. They will do this by getting the most out of our high performing Public Affairs team, which covers policy, research, advocacy and communications - as well as working across teams and with the Board to ensure Impetus is well positioned externally.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising and income generation
- Work with Impetus CEO and SMT to support the delivery of the Impetus strategy and business plan and deliver the public affairs milestones to time and within budget.
- Champion and contribute to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) across all areas of Impetus' work, ensuring that EDI principles related to Impetus’ mission are reflected in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, communications and public positioning.
- Vision setting and strong line management of the Public Affairs team, developing their capabilities, representing the team at SMT and to the Board and ensuring it continues to make a valuable - and valued - contribution to the achievement of Impetus’s objectives, through building and implementing high quality work plans for the team and ensuring the wider Impetus team is aligned on these.
- Increase awareness, understanding and trust in Impetus among key stakeholders, through regular, thoughtful engagement with the sector and securing high profile media coverage.
- Raise awareness of the education and employment gaps faced by young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and what we can do to break down the barriers they face - through research, policy positioning and effective communications.
- Build a positive reputation for Impetus in government and parliament and among funders, as a source of expertise on how to improve the education and employment outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a trusted interlocutor and partner, building on and leveraging the many relationships already established.
- Ensure that all advocacy is supported by high quality research and evidence, with our policy and research agenda well aligned to supporting the delivery of Impetus’ strategy.
- Ensure a positive media profile, continuing to build on the base established to build awareness among the media of Impetus’s expertise and content.
- Position Impetus as a ‘sought-after’ collaborative partner for other organisations with shared objectives; including regularly representing Impetus at relevant sector events.
- Support the delivery of our fundraising strategy and the successful delivery of our events programme, in particular, our flagship Transforming Lives Dinner.
- Where appropriate, collaborate with our portfolio partners to support their public affairs work and to leverage relevant partnerships, drawing on their insights to inform Impetus’ work.
- Contribute to the successful performance of the Senior Management Team, and provide expert advice to them, as well as to Trustees, on all public affairs-related activities and in the implementation of the broader strategy, engaging with decisions and challenges across the organisation.
- Oversee the running of our Public Affairs Committee (PAC), leveraging their skills, expertise and influence for the good of Impetus.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Role Overview
The Director of Development at the Foundling Museum will lead the Museum’s fundraising strategy, driving income generation to support its mission and programmes. Key duties
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising, membership and partnership strategy to support the Museum’s short and long-term goals

Person Specification
Experience (required)
- Proven leadership, ideally at least 5 years, in a similar role where philanthropic and grant income is central to the success of the organisation
- Extensive experience of shaping and implementing fundraising strategies that have delivered a step change increase in actual income
- A substantial fundraising track record in securing income from diverse constituencies and across funding types, including personal experience in securing major gifts and managing teams to do the same

The Role
The role reports to the Associate Director of Legal and Governance, with an independent reporting line to the Chair of the Finance Committee.
The role will provide a comprehensive programme of internal audits into the activities of our charity and will report to our Finance Committee with recommendations for improvement. This is a crucial role in safeguarding the charity’s assets and reputation.

- To establish effective and robust operational and strategic Internal Audit plans for the Charity and to report on progress of the plan

About You

About the role
The Offshore Maintenance Manager will have a key role in delivering the capability and availability of MSSC’s offshore vessels to provide sea-going experience for cadets and in ensuring the safety for all personnel on board. Responsibilities
· Providing day to day support in identifying defects and safety shortcomings, determining solutions, assisting in rectification or organising cost effective professional repairs at advantageous prices and obtaining replacement parts.
· Producing, overseeing and tracking (technically and financially) the winter maintenance work packages for the fleet.
· Progressive development of MSSC’s Safety Management System, as related to the technical running and management of each offshore vessel.
· Assisting the engineer officers of MSSC’s vessels with maintenance tasks.
· Managing records to support and evidence MSSC’s maintenance programme.
· Acting as an occasional relief engineer on board any of the three larger vessels.
Requirements
· Engineer with HNC or similar professional qualification with significant experience in the maritime sector in seagoing and shore support roles. Areas of experience would include health and safety, marine equipment operation, engineering maintenance, refit planning and execution.
· Ideally a broad engineering experience across the mechanical, electrical and electronic disciplines. Knowledge of typical small commercial or recreational vessel machinery, control, navigation and communications systems and their integration.
· Experience in using and managing Electronic Planned Maintenance Systems.
· Experience of routine and effective liaison with ship and shore staff, external authorities, suppliers and contractors.
· Health and fitness necessary to obtain and industry recognised medical certification (ENG1).
Desirable
· Power and sail background ideally across a variety of vessels including those <300 tonnes
· Experience with maintaining vessels in Lloyd’s or other recognised Classification Society Rules and Flag State “Code of Practice.”
· Experience working with young people.

Youth Futures Foundation is the national What Works Centre for youth employment, with a specific focus on marginalised young people.
We find and generate high-quality evidence to better understand England’s’ youth unemployment and inactivity challenge, and most importantly to learn what solutions work to address this. We do this through bringing together the best evidence already in existence and build on this by conducting original research and testing and evaluating promising interventions to produce much needed new evidence where there are gaps.
We are looking for a dynamic Team Coordinator to provide administrative and business support to the Programmes and Grants Directorate. The successful candidate will help us to deliver our objectives by providing seamless support and delivery. They will:
Understand the needs of the teams, the context in which they operate, and focus on problem-solving and working with others to meet objectives.
Help the teams to work effectively, co-ordinate team activities, maintain relationships, alongside supporting operational excellence
Work flexibly as needs evolve to support teams, and occasionally, support cross-Directorate colleagues.
Use digital ways of working, technology and platforms to achieve goals.
This role will be based at our Birmingham office.
We currently operate a hybrid model of two-days per week in the office and three-days from home.

About the Role
This is an independent, target-driven role where you’ll take full ownership of sales – but you won’t be working in isolation. This is a key position for someone who thrives on sales, relationship-building and growth.
You will take ownership of outbound sales, and proactively seek opportunities across B2B, B2C and corporate growth (standing orders, wholesale and weddings), and work to ensure our pipeline is always full and well nurtured.
This is not a passive sales role—it's about being out there, finding leads, closing deals and growing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Outbound Sales & Business Development
- Identify and secure new B2B, wholesale, corporate and wedding clients.
- Unlock the potential of our existing client list through strategic outreach.
- Drive proactive lead generation, including cold calling, networking and LinkedIn outreach.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of leads, converting them into long-term contracts.
- Attend tastings, sales meetings, and events to pitch Luminary’s offering and communicate our social impact.
- Keep CRM records up to date to track opportunities, conversations and progress.
Account Growth & Relationship Management
- Strengthen and expand relationships with high-value clients and key accounts.
- Spot and pursue upselling opportunities (e.g. regular standing orders, bespoke gifting, seasonal campaigns)
- Collaborate with production, fulfilment and packaging teams to ensure flawless delivery
Sales Strategy & Performance Tracking
- Lead on setting and delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Report regularly to the Managing Director on sales performance and pipeline health
- Use customer feedback and sales data to refine and improve sales strategy
Weddings & Corporate Events
- Respond to wedding and corporate event enquiries and develop new outbound opportunities.
- Build relationships with venues, planners and corporate gifting contacts.
- Prepare tailored proposals, quotations and tasting sessions for high-value prospects.
- Develop and implement initiatives to increase wedding cake sales
About You
- Proven track record in B2B or high-end food/hospitality sales
- Commercially driven with a “hunter” mindset – you thrive on securing and growing business.
- Strong network and understanding of Contract Catering
- Strong networking skills and confidence in both face-to-face and virtual meetings.
- Passion for food, social enterprise, and creating positive impact.
- Self-starter who can work independently, while collaborating effectively across teams.
- Skilled at building relationships across multiple sectors and seniority levels.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Desirable
- Experience in event/wedding sales or working with luxury/corporate clients
- Experience with CRM systems (Capsule CRM) and Excel/sales dashboards
- Understanding of food production or social enterprise business models
Package
- Salary: £42,000 per annum (0.4 FTE), pro rata
