What will you be doing? 

Contribute to hyh’s overall Fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising Team

• Identify, develop and support existing and new community and events fundraising activities to increase and generate significant net income and supporter engagement
• Provide excellent donor care for all fundraising activities, to develop productive and lasting relationships with the community and convert them into loyal supporters
  
• Assist the Head of Fundraising & Communications  in the development and delivery of hyh’s Events and Communications Plans
• Update donor CRM databases and website

• Excellent cultivation and stewardship with existing and new trusts and foundations to maximise income potential and build strong relationships
• Be responsible for ensuring effective and timely reporting of progress made to grant funders

Write and submit compelling bid proposals to secure funding from major trusts, working closely with colleagues to ensure content is accurate and up to date

• Work with colleagues to produce consistently outstanding, high quality, imaginative and compelling proposals, to present to both large and small trusts and foundations
• Plan and deliver a schedule of high-quality submissions that delivers on time and on targets
• Oversee the implementation of the terms and conditions of successful grants, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects performance against the agreed activity plan and liaise with colleagues as necessary

Record and maintain accurate records of donor communication and income through our CRM, producing reports and insights where appropriate

• Maintain efficiency in donation fulfilment, documentation of grants, acknowledgement and manage all correspondence (email, mail) through the Donorfy donor management system

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fundraiser, working full-time on-site. The Fundraiser who will play an integral role within our team, working with the CEO, and senior management team, responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies, organising events and campaigns, maintaining donor relationships, and researching and identifying new funding opportunities, building a strong pipeline of core and restricted funding, as well as donations and gifts.

You will seek to maximise funding opportunities, expand our portfolio of grant funders, and contribute to a growth in income from Trusts & Foundations. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders, writing, and submitting high-quality grant applications, and delivering excellent grant management.

You should be a proactive self-starter, with excellent written communication skills and demonstrable strong attention to detail. With experience of successful fundraising bids to trust, charities and local authority, working with grant applications and/or funding proposals utilising a range of tools to identify new funding opportunities, as well as some experience of philanthropic fundraising.

The main responsibilities of the CEO are:

Strategic leadership

·Work with the Board of Trustees and the Head of Operations, and consult with staff, survivors, and others, to develop and define a clear, strong vision and direction for the future of the organisation.

·Lead on and be responsible for the creation, ongoing development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic, business and annual plans.

·Foster, model and promote an inclusive, feminist, anti-racist organisational culture that reflects CARA’s ethos and values.

·Be accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall financial health of the organisation.

Good governance

·Report and present to the Board of Trustees on the organisation’s progress against its budgets, plans, any risks, challenges and changes, and all information relevant and necessary to the effective discharge of the Board’s duties, including strategic decision-making.

·Develop and share proposals with the Board for the implementation of its objectives and the ongoing development of the organisation.

Business development

·Develop and implement an income generation strategy that ensures the organisation’s sustainability and enables its sustainable growth.

·Generate new and various funding and income opportunities through networking, developing partnerships.

• To research and identify new funding and commissioning opportunities and complete bids and applications on an ongoing basis.

·Increase the unrestricted income of the charity, including developing, proposing and implementing new and innovative approaches to its income generation activities, including working closely with the CEO of Icena.

·Be responsible for maintaining and developing strong, long-term relationships with a diverse range funders and donors, both existing and new.

Representation

• To act as lead representative for CARA in the Synergy Essex Rape Crisis Partnership, developing strong working relationships with the other partners and negotiating CARA’s role, responsibilities and the financial allocations it receives from the partnership. 
• To keep up-to-date with current developments affecting victims and survivors of sexual violence and ensure that CARA responds appropriately to these developments.
• To be the chief spokeswoman for CARA, responding to media and other enquiries as appropriate and playing a pro-active role in bringing relevant issues to the attention of the public, issuing press releases and initiating debate, as appropriate.
• Build, support and oversee strong relationships with individuals and organisations across the voluntary, public and private sectors, and in local and national government.
• To contribute to Rape Crisis England and Wales campaigns and other campaigns, as appropriate.
• To remain informed of national and regional Rape Crisis perspectives, drawing on Rape Crisis England and Wales expertise and resources as appropriate.

Organisational management

·Ensure policies and processes that support good communication, staff health and well-being, and safe and effective delivery of work are in place and adhered to throughout the organisation.

·Take overall responsibility for the staff team, its management and performance.

·Capture the organisation’s work through robust monitoring and evaluation, and ensure CARA’s impact and any learning is shared throughout the team and with the Board, survivors, funders and other partners as appropriate.

·Oversee and ensure robust financial management processes for the charity.

Other

·To oversee safeguarding at CARA, working with the Designated Safeguarding Leads to ensure effective policies and procedures are in place and communicated to staff, trustees, sessional counsellors and volunteers, and that CARA follows best safeguarding practice.

·To adhere to all CARA’s organisational policies and procedures.

·To be administratively self-servicing, and to share responsibility for a range of day-to-day tasks with the Head of Operations and other team members.

·To undertake other related activities as required by Board of Trustees.

About Synergy Essex

CARA is part of Synergy Essex – the Essex Rape and Sexual Abuse Partnership. We work with SERICC Rape and Sexual Abuse Specialist Service and Southend-on-Sea Rape Crisis (SOS Rape Crisis) to deliver the contract for the Office for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex for services for victims and survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse across Essex, Southend and Thurrock. Synergy Essex also shares a number of other projects, funded by the Ministry of Justice, Essex County Council and the National Lottery Community Fund.

Our current PFCC contract ends in March 2025.  Synergy Essex intends to submit a bid for the new contract, which is expected to be put out to tender in the summer of 2024.

CARA is a founding stakeholder of Icena - a social enterprise offering training and consultancy to eradicate sexual discrimination and violence.  The creation of Icena forms part of CARA’s sustainability strategy:  Once Icena is generating sufficient profit, a share of this profit will be used to support CARA’s work.

Tyndale House is a renowned institute for biblical studies and possesses one of the finest libraries for biblical research in the world. The role of Personal Assistant to the Principal will provide the Principal with proactive and confidential project-related and administrative support, with a particular focus on development and fundraising activities. Our current annual expenditure on charitable activities is around £1.3m and we rely on donations and receive no public subsidy. The Principal therefore acts as both the head of the Charity as well as the primary fundraiser.

Since 2013, Arts Emergency has been providing 16-25 year olds in London, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and beyond with a trained mentor working in their field of interest. This position will be responsible for raising the necessary income to ensure Arts Emergency’s high-quality, person focused, asset-based services for young people are sustainably funded and can

Parkinson’s UK – Head of Major Gifts

Sanctuary Breaks is a new charity based in Stroud District, Gloucestershire, set up to welcome refugees and people seeking asylum to rural areas in the county, and enable social and cultural exchange between refugees and the resident population, especially with a view to supporting mental health. Your job would be to develop this charity, and increase refugee and asylum seeker opportunities for leisure, engagement and inclusion in the life of the area.

Tom’s Trust, a charity dedicated to providing mental health support to children, with brain and central nervous system tumours, and their families.  We currently have services in East Anglia, the North East and North West of England and have plans to reach every area of the UK by 2030 and we need your help to do so!

Are you ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children facing brain tumours and their families? With thanks to funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund we are seeking an administrator to help us to support the Senior Leadership Team, collect, collate and disseminate data from our services around the country, ensure support is given where needed with governance and HR tasks including minute taking and diary management.

Our head office is based in Cambridge but we have a number of staff who work hybrid or fully remote from home and we are open to the role being filled either part-time or full time.

You would need to have excellent IT skills, be a good planner, enthusiastic, highly organised and willing to get stuck in with a variety of tasks and will be a lynch pin in our small organisation.
