Volunteer Centre Hackney is a thriving charity (annual income circa £1.1m, with 29 paid staff) providing volunteering infrastructure to the voluntary sector across the City of London and the London borough of Hackney. We support over 1500 residents a year to realise their skills and passions through volunteering and social action, and to share these for the benefit of others. We also provide volunteering resource, and advice and guidance on best practice in volunteer management, to hundreds of charities and community organisations.

Through our specialist programmes, our impact on the lives of residents is huge. We match volunteers to housebound residents to help them engage with communities and leave their homes; we provide long term personalised support to people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities to help them volunteer and find paid jobs; we support patients to deliver hundreds of their own activities and peer support groups at GP practices across City and Hackney; and in partnership with Public Health, we support over 250 Community Health Champions to share vital health messaging with their own diverse communities.  

This is a hands-on and strategic role for an experienced fundraiser who thrives in a small to medium sized charity environment. You will have autonomy to develop a whole new fundraising strategy, utilise diverse fundraising methods, and build and develop new project ideas and partnerships. You will lead on income generation primarily through sourcing and applying to trusts and foundations, and with the potential to build new corporate partnerships, community campaigns and individual giving. You will build authentic relationships with funders and supporters, and together with VCH colleagues, will identify new programme models as ways to generate income. You will contribute to the development and production of compelling stories, evidence and marketing and build and maintain the infrastructure needed to track and achieve progress against annual income targets.

Post holders need to have excellent communication skills, to represent the charity in writing and in person. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivating and confident to work primarily alone, but also able to engage and collaborate with staff from across the organisation to share information and impact evidence to support your role. If you are successful in securing funding there will be the potential to recruit additional support, and for you to become the Head of Fundraising of a small team.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Support Services Manager to lead BBS UK’s support services for children, adults and families living with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS). 

BBS UK is a national charity supporting people affected by this rare genetic condition. We work closely with NHS specialist clinics and other services to help individuals and families access the support they need and navigate health, education, social care and welfare systems. 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a small, dedicated team providing practical support, advocacy and guidance to people living with BBS and their families. 

The role includes team leadership, safeguarding responsibility and service development. You will help ensure people receive safe, responsive and person-centred support while continuing to improve and strengthen our services. 

About the Role 

As Support Services Manager, you will oversee BBS UK’s clinics support and advice services. Working closely with the CEO, NHS clinics and partner organisations, you will: 

• Lead and support a small remote-working team

• Provide supervision and safeguarding leadership to Patient Liaison Officers and Advice Workers

• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the organisation

We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Administrator to expand capacity and play a key role in the next phase of our organisation-wide Salesforce rollout. Having successfully implemented Salesforce for donor management, we are now expanding the platform to support our international field operations.

Role purpose

The Head of Finance is a key member of the Charity’s senior management team, working closely with the chief executive, directors, and trustees. The head of finance will lead the day-to-day financial operations of the Charity, including budgeting, reporting, audit, payroll, and pensions. As Head of Finance, you will be a member of the Executive Team, supporting the Chief Executive with the overall direction and long-term financial viability of the Charity. Overall purpose 

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Senior Team Administrator will take responsibility for managing the administrative requirements relating to the governance of the charity and of the senior staff team, and for ensuring Breaking Barriers operates efficiently as possible, ensuring that the organisation can be effective in delivering its mission.

You will have a strong knowledge of all aspects of charity administration, be able to manage a wide range of tasks, be able to work at a fast pace across all areas of Breaking Barriers’, and be able to drive new ways of working to minimise wasted time and resource, freeing up more staff time to best support our clients.

This is a new post at Breaking Barriers. The initial key responsibilities are described below, and the role will develop according to the charity’s changing needs. 

 Governance and management

· Organise and attend quarterly board of trustee meetings, including room booking and note-taking

The Senior Partnerships Manager is responsible for developing, securing and stewarding our partnerships, with a particular focus on the corporate and higher education spaces. Reporting to and working closely with the CEO, the postholder will lead on relationship‑driven partnership development and account management, ensuring partners experience a professional, values‑aligned and impactful relationship with Brightside.

The postholder will steward these partnerships from initial engagement through to renewal, working closely with the Partnerships Lead to support renewals and identify opportunities for deeper partner engagement. The role will involve researching potential partnerships, securing meetings through outreach and networking, generating proposals, and delivering high‑quality ongoing stewardship to partners. In addition to corporate and higher education partners, the postholder will also steward relationships across government and the third sector.

Please note - this role will require extensive travel to London for partnership meetings, events and networking. Our ideal candidate would therefore be based in London or within commuting distance.

Responsible for

 Pipeline development

• Researching potential prospects across the corporate and higher education sectors, including analysis of corporate ESG strategies and university access and participation plans
• Maintaining and enhancing our prospects database on our CRM
• Building and nurturing relationships with prospective partners
• Delivering pitch presentations to prospective partners
• Regular attendance at in-person prospect meetings or networking events to build strong relationships that develop into new partnerships
• Generating proposals that align partner priorities to Brightside’s aims
• Maintaining regular contact with prospects to stay on their radar and keep them up to date with Brightside activity
• Attending regular networking events and relevant contacts to build contacts across sectors

 Partnership management and stewardship

• Acting as the consistent relationship manager across the partnership lifecycle
• Stewarding partnerships beyond programme activity, maintaining relationships that reflect partners’ wider goals, values and organisational priorities
• Holding regular partnership check-ins focused on relationship health, strategic alignment and future opportunities
• Ensuring partners feel informed, valued and connected to Brightside’s broader mission and impact
• Working closely with the partnerships delivery team to stay up to date on delivery progress and partner milestones
• Identifying opportunities to deepen or broaden relationships, including multi-year partnerships or expanded engagement
• Delivering a consistent, high-quality partnership experience that strengthens long-term retention
• Attending partner events and conferences where relevant, becoming embedded within their communities
• Working with the Partnerships Lead to prepare for and initiate renewals conversations, including renewals proposals and monitoring

We are looking for a hands-on leader who can bring significant income-generating expertise to a new challenge. You’ll sit lead our Outreach team, be a collaborative 'do-er' who leads inclusively, is passionate about our mission and wants to add value to our small team from day one. We want to work with someone who is excited by our growth journey and can be flexible and dynamic as we scale. We are launching our Senior Leadership Team this summer, which includes a Director of Income to take ownership of our income generation, drive forward our social value offer and lead our Outreach team effectively and kindly. 

Purpose of the Role

The Director of Income role is responsible for leading our income generation. Our fundraising strategy is to significantly grow and further diversify our income, with a particular focus on corporate and trading income. The postholder will coordinate our fundraising activity, lead our Outreach team and work closely with the CEO to drive forward our income generation so we can safely deliver our ambitious strategy over the next 5 years. 

In particular, the postholder will be responsible for coordinating and developing our income function, converting our strategic fundraising objectives into operational plans, managing the Head of Outreach and representing the organisation externally. However, the role is not solely governance and leadership - we need a do-er who is comfortable working in a small team and sharing responsibilities, including submitting fundraising proposals and taking responsibility for our reporting. They will work closely with the CEO, Director of Programmes, Head of Outreach and Communications and Fundraising Coordinator to ensure we are communicating our value proposition coherently and effectively to the important stakeholders that make our work possible.

We do not see this as a traditional fundraising director role - we are looking for a skilled generalist who can meet us where we are at by working confidently across Trusts and Foundations, statutory grants, corporate partnerships and traded services simultaneously. We are a small charity with 10 staff, so while we are looking for a decision-making and accountable leader, the postholder will be expected to support colleagues across the organisation. They will have a collaborateive spirit and the emotional intelligence to thrive in a small team. 

The postholder will lead the Outreach team (CEO, Head of Outreach, and Fundraising and Communications Coordinator), ensuring we work efficiently and together. They will also model our values, actively promote our commitment to refugee leadership, and bring stability and leadership at a crucial time for our organisation's development. We are looking for someone humble and ambitious, motivated by our mission and confident in our ability to create a sustainable, full-service digital inclusion organisation for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
