Our work reaches into the heart of the communities of Oxfordshire, and we’re pleased to be expanding our Community Engagement work into the areas of Cherwell and West Oxfordshire. The key towns in these areas are Banbury, Bicester, Kidlington, Witney, Carterton and Chipping Norton, including surrounding villages. Your role will be to set up peer-to-peer support groups, information days, befriending partnerships, and to be a point of contact for our work in the north and west of the county. Our mission is to support visually impaired people to live independent and active lives and you’ll be playing a key part in this.

Job Title: Community Engagement Worker (North and West)

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £23,000 – £28,000 per year dependent on experience

Annual Leave: 25 days per year plus bank holidays (to increase after 3-years)

Job Purpose:

To support visually impaired people to live independent and active lives by providing a range of activities and groups across the north and west of Oxfordshire.

Duties: 

• Setting up and supporting peer-to-peer support groups
• Holding information days within local libraries, community centres and other key locations
• Setting up walking groups as part of our Green Walks Project
• Demonstrating and setting up daily living equipment and assistive technology with support from the tech team
• Assisting in the setup of befriending partnerships alongside the Volunteer Coordinator
• Connect, share, and learn with partners and other organisations
• Being a point of contact for MyVision within the North and West of Oxfordshire

Person Specification

About the role

This role is part of our London Borough of Hounslow team, reporting to the Local Services Manager, working alongside an experienced team of Dementia Advisers and supported by Volunteers. Volunteer role management is a key responsibility.

You will co-ordinate, organise and facilitate the successful and safe provision of our services that are delivered in a group setting, including Singing for the Brain, Dementia Cafés and Peer Support Groups, across the Borough.  

Our service delivery is both virtual and face to face, with a strong emphasis on community outreach and engagement. We particularly welcome applications from people who are representative of the communities we serve.

This is a home-based role, with frequent travel to community venues within the Borough. Expenses are paid for travel.

This is a very rewarding front-line role that makes a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia. You will be working across a large and diverse community and will have the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of people and adapt to different settings.

- We are looking for someone with strong communication skills who will help us to expand our reach and hold relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- You will need to demonstrate an understanding of dementia and the impact that it has on people’s lives. You will have the confidence to work independently, facilitating groups of people in community settings and managing volunteers.

Role Purpose

The Community Engagement Manager (Maternity Cover) role will be a critical piece of our Community Programmes team, which provides support to founders at every stage of their startup journey. The Community Programme offering includes a roster of events including panels, masterclasses and workshops, as well as mentoring and coaching opportunities, and peer-to-peer engagement opportunities. We work with an exciting range of partners across the private and third sectors to connect underrepresented founders to networks and capital that will help launch and grow their mission-driven businesses.

We are looking for a driven, process-oriented self-starter who is interested in a role that will expose them to a variety of activities across the Community portfolio. As the Community Engagement Manager, you’ll work directly with the Co-Head of Programmes to ensure the systems we need are in place to support the team to deliver their support offering and that we are constantly learning and evolving our programme offering from Founder feedback and engagement.

You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering programmes and events for the graduate community, as well as contribute to our community engagement strategy – helping us to set up new aspects of our programmes and collaborating with programme managers and coordinators across the portfolio to contribute to a more engaged community of entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

Graduate Community Engagement

• Maintain the community engagement strategy for enhanced engagement between founders and a more cohesive founder journey across all stages
•  Maintain the end-to-end design and management of the founder experience in the graduate community platform (Circle)
• Helping founders to widen their networks and facilitate connections that can provide critical support and direction via our graduate community platform
• Work collaboratively across the Programmes team to ensure entrepreneurs who engage with Hatch are connected to the best programmes, resources and offers for them
• Maintaining a list of partnership perks for the  community
• Understanding both founder needs and partnership opportunities and coordinate the creation of  relevant resources, content and perks to meet these
• Attend ecosystem events and speak on behalf of Hatch, and engage the wider team in doing the same
• Helping to ensure consistent relationship management and communication with partner organisations

Programme delivery and development

• Reviewing existing insights and conducting research to refine existing and new peer-to-peer programmes for Hatch founders and graduates
• Engaging mentors, experts and facilitators, where applicable, to support with the leadership of peer-to-peer programmes 
• Planning, facilitating and evaluating networking opportunities for founders to build and foster  community engagement
• Developing and managing  support  opportunities for our graduates to increase their access to capital, contracts, and connections
• Working collaboratively with Marketing and Communications team to drive engagement through founder and graduate communication channels
• Managing the content strategy and maintenance of the Resource Hub, to ensure accessibility of content for founders outside of a cohort programme

Systems and administration

• Maintaining the KPI tracking system to record programme founder participation, feedback and learning outcomes
• Feeding into the development of a new CRM system to help us better manage our founder and partner relationships
• Supporting the development and maintenance of our calendar of activities, showcasing engagement opportunities to our founders and the public
• Reviewing and suggesting improvements and innovations  to systems and implementing system changes

Monitoring and evaluation

• Supporting the collection and collation of feedback from volunteers, mentors and founders in order to monitor and improve participant experience
• Working with the Fundraising team to report on Community Programme KPIs, anecdotal feedback, and to support with the generation of case studies, for funder reports and fundraising pitches
• Collecting and analysing relevant data for the resources webpage, graduate community platform, as well as keeping up to date with any relevant tech updates and training required for monitoring the data

Other 

• Gaining and maintaining in-depth knowledge and understanding of Hatch’s work, priorities and future plans and acting as a spokesperson for the charity when required
• Representing Hatch externally at speaking  and networking opportunities

The Role 

 This Casework Coordinator role is based within the Services Directorate.  In part, this directorate focuses its support on refugees who have been recognised as having protection needs and have been granted permission to stay in the UK but are now struggling to rebuild their lives in a new and unfamiliar country. Many need advice and guidance in areas such as housing, health, welfare support, education/training and employment.

The Refugee Council’s Private Renting Scheme is based in London and has been delivering specialised support to new refugees wanting to access private rented accommodation in London since 2012. Working with private landlords and other housing providers our Private Renting Scheme creates tenancy opportunities for new refugees and provides support and advice to ensure tenancies are suitable and sustainable.

The postholder will work with private landlords and other housing providers to secure tenancies for clients. The postholder will also provide casework support to clients, ensuring they are ready to secure and sustain a tenancy. This will involve providing casework support dealing with the key issues of housing and welfare benefits.

 The Casework Coordinator will work closely with others to ensure we effectively manage and support our caseload of clients and run an effective advice service. This role will take responsibility for the progression of its own caseload with the support of volunteers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

Advice and Advocacy Work 

• To provide face to face advice and support to adult refugees in a sensitive, confidential and professional manner which fully understands the needs of the individual.
• To create links and work effectively with private landlords and other housing providers (such as housing associations, housing cooperatives, low needs housing providers) to create accessible, suitable and sustainable tenancy options for clients.

• To provide services with due regard for equalities and for meeting the needs of all potential and actual service users. Ensuring advice services are delivered in ways which are fully accessible and in a language that they can understand. 
•  To ensure volunteers act as advocates for new refugees, ensuring these are taken into account by other agencies.

Responsibilities of our Activities and Events Co-Ordinator will include:

• To plan, co-ordinate and deliver an annual programme of relevant and accessible activities, classes, events, workshops and outings that keep members of all ages engaged, learning new skills and active in the community
• To work collaboratively with St Luke's service leads and partner organisations ensuring the annual programme of activities and events is co-ordinated and reflects all aspects of St Luke's objectives
• To effectively identify the needs and interests of local residents effectively using a variety of consultation tools including our database, completing surveys and through evaluation
• In collaboration with the Communications Team, to create a range of marketing and promotional material for the activities and events  
• To research and recruit suitably qualified and experienced tutors and facilitators and supervise their involvement in delivering St Luke's programmes
• In collaboration with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to supervise and support a team of volunteers supporting the programme of activities and event
• To report on and review attendance monitoring systems assessing the impact and quality of activities and events
• To maintain efficient manual and computer-based records of data in line with current guidance and procedures
• To oversee and assist in the upkeep of the facilities and equipment reporting defects or issues as necessary

Essential Skills, Experience & Abilities we are looking for in our ideal Activities and Events Co-Ordinator:

• Experience of working in a community setting delivering a range of successful activities and events  
• Experience of developing and managing new and existing activities and events from initial planning to post evaluation
• Organisational, administrative and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and deliver quality work to deadlines
• The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work comfortably under pressure within a busy environment

Post Title Progression Worker 

Responsible to Director of Services (subject to review) 

Purpose of Post To support users of services through an education, training, and employability programme integrated with SCT’s wider services and enterprise offer, as well as partner opportunities in the wider community. To oversee and coordinate access to SCT’s Training and Development tutor-led activities including art, creative writing, digital skills, gardening, literacy, woodwork, and peer-led ‘Choices’ groups, and to monitor people’s progress over time.

Salary Up to £27,488 (£34,360 FTE)

Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is an East London charity embedded in the local community, providing practical support and training to people affected by homelessness and addictions so they can rebuild their lives. We have a Recovery Hub in Shoreditch, where we run an abstinence-based residential recovery service (‘Acorn House’), and a Training and Development service, including tutor-led art, creative writing, digital skills, gardening, literacy, and woodwork. In addition, we run Housing First and Supported Housing services, both in East London. We also have eight charity shops and two social enterprises, which give us a presence in the wider East London community while generating valuable funds.

Role and Responsibilities: 

We are dedicated to supporting those who access our Training and Development service to explore further Education, Training, and Employment (ETE) opportunities as part of SCT’s Progressions Programme, both within and outside of SCT. This includes those in early recovery who are resident in our abstinent-based recovery service (‘Acorn House’), as well as those in our move-on house and the wider community who may be more established in their recovery. SCT’s Progression Worker supports those accessing our services to explore ETE opportunities, offering tailored, individually specific support to help them reach their full potential. SCT’s Progression Programme is centred on empowering people in recovery to cultivate confidence and realise their potential. 

SCT Progressions Programme 

1. Identifying SCT residents and students ready to pursue ETE opportunities: 

• Collaborate with SCT tutors and managers, particularly the Therapeutic Programme Manager and Supported Housing Manager, to identify those who may benefit from the support on offer. 

• Cultivate strong relationships with SCT’s social enterprises and shops to establish clear pathways for volunteering and trainee opportunities for those who access our services. 

• Conduct assessments, develop and implement individualised Progression Plans, and evaluate progress according to each person’s needs, strengths and aspirations, involving key internal and external partners as appropriate. 

1. Providing information, advice, and guidance regarding ETE opportunities: 

• Offer information, initial advice, and guidance on employment, voluntary work, and further education opportunities. 

• Promote SCT's work to external partners to maximise ETE opportunities for those who access our services. 

• Make referrals for placements, volunteering experiences, apprenticeship schemes, colleges, and other external programmes. 

• Support individual users of services with referrals and applications for ETE opportunities.

• Maintain partnerships with relevant ETE providers to offer diverse opportunities to users of services. 

• Work with corporate partners offering employability opportunities to users of services. 

• Design, develop, and deliver employability workshops as required. 

1. Oversight of users of SCT services volunteering in SCT’s social enterprises and shops: 

• Match potential volunteers to SCT volunteering opportunities. 

• Support potential volunteers with applications for volunteering opportunities. 

• Liaise with colleagues who will be managing volunteering experiences. 

• Conduct risk assessments. 

• Support volunteers on an ongoing basis. 

• Hold regular review meetings with volunteers, and SCT colleagues.

1. Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting: 

• Maintain accurate records of activities, outcomes, and feedback, including monitoring of In-Form, SCT’s bespoke CRM data management system.

• Input relevant data to In-Form to track participants’ progress. 

• Identify success stories of participants overcoming significant barriers to learning and work. 

• Collaborate with colleagues to celebrate success stories through various channels. 

• Participate in quality improvement activities, staff development opportunities, and self-evaluation. 

• Assist Fundraising, Communications, and Marketing colleagues in preparing funding applications and reports. 

1. Providing Ongoing Support to Progression Alumni: 

• Conduct regular check-in calls/meetings with users of services. 

• Direct users of services to relevant support services, where necessary, for maintaining their recovery. 

• Organise an annual Progression Alumni event to celebrate service users' achievements and maintain contact.

You will be joining us at an exciting time as we set up our new RNID Near You care home service in Somerset. As a Co-ordinator, you will focus and lead on developing and delivering our new care home service across the locality through sessions in care homes to residents, their visitors and staff, we will be offering:

• practical hearing aid support
• information on hearing loss and tinnitus
• hearing checks

You will be responsible for co-ordinating sessions across the region in care home settings and be able to recruit, train and manage a team of up to 30 volunteers to deliver the service across Somerset. You will have responsibility for the set up and running of these sessions and have good local knowledge of Somerset in order to seek new opportunities for delivery of our RNID Near you services.

We are looking to appoint a motivated person with a keen interest in supporting people with their hearing loss. While you will be home based, there will be regular travel to venues where we will provide drop-in clinics in community settings.

You want to make a difference in people’s lives and love to interact with various audiences, including volunteers, health & care professionals and service users. You have experience managing events, your own workload and are able to work evenings/weekends if required. You are able to physically assist clients with hearing aids sensitively, giving clear guidance and taking into account individual wishes and health needs.

You are ready to work for a home-working organisation and have good IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word.

The Volunteer Manager (VM) is responsible for overseeing high-quality sourcing of volunteers to join as 1MM Mentors across the regions, which includes partnership development, online site listing, and matching mentors/mentees, general oversight of mentoring relationships in different programmes, implementation of safeguarding measures, fundraising, meeting growth targets and leading all aspects of mentor management. The role will help to establish a pipeline across the regions, with 5000 new mentors for 2024.  This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

1MM VM’s main tasks include:

• Helping 1MM to scale by sourcing sufficient volunteer mentors who go on to become confirmed matches for high quality mentoring relationships.

• Ensuring mentors coming online have completed the platform mentor training within 1 month, and that this conversion results in sufficient and timely readiness of mentors to meet the needs of programmes with one month’s lead time.

• Providing ongoing support to 1MM’’s Volunteer Providers (eg employer partners), maintaining strong relationships.

• Securing one corporate sponsor per quarter.

• Becoming familiar with the 1MM Platform, using it comfortably for ongoing administration and providing support to mentors.

• Providing a weekly update on various aspects of mentor recruitment, including expected supply, actual registration, and confirmed matching. Share lessons learned on volunteer conversion and matching with the wider team.

Terms and Conditions:

This is a full time role offered in London, for 6 months (continuing subject to funding). This is a hybrid role with two days working at home, two days in the London office, and one day where it is up to you.

Remuneration and benefits: Salary bracket of £29,000 per annum plus London Weighting (pro rata), up to 6.5% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday per year (pro rata)..  We also offer monthly team Learning and Development training sessions, and 15 hours volunteering allowance per year.
