Join our charity at a pivotal moment. We are looking for a talented communications professional who can work with our small remote team to keep migrant homelessness and destitution high on the public agenda and tell powerful, compelling stories of the work of our members and the experiences of the people in the asylum and immigration system.

You will lead our comms work, managing our digital presence, driving engagement through our social media channels, being the first point of contact for journalists and, alongside the External Affairs Lead, developing and driving our organisational communications strategy. You will have plenty of creative ideas of how to get our campaigns noticed and ensure NACCOM’s voice is heard in the public debate.

You will understand how to work with people in vulnerable or precarious situations, empowering them to tell their own stories and giving them a voice.

A strong knowledge of the media landscape and using social media to achieve change is essential. Experience of managing websites and an understanding of brand is also key.

Hours:   Part time at 21 hours per week (which is 0.6 FTE, full time is 35 hpw)

Salary: £23,620 for 0.6 FTE  (full time / 35 hpw salary would be £39,367pa). Plus £4,000 pro rata London Weighting if applicable.

Leave: 25 days pro rata plus bank holidays (Eng and Wales) plus additional concessionary days off between Christmas and New Year

About NACCOM:

NACCOM (No Accommodation Network) is a registered charity, and we provide a service to our (135) members who are frontline organisations based across the UK working together to end destitution amongst people seeking asylum, refugees and migrants with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).

The NACCOM membership network is made up of ‘full’ members who provide accommodation to people seeking asylum who have been refused and ‘associate’ members who are organisations that are in support of the aims of NACCOM.

NACCOM brings members together to network, collaborate and share good practice, and also provides resources, support and training to enable members to increase their capacity and empower as many people as possible out of destitution. Job purpose:

The Communications Co-ordinator will be responsible for the delivery of NACCOM’s communications strategy. The postholder will co-ordinate all media relations, both proactive and reactive, maintaining excellent relationships with journalists and ensuring high level visibility of key projects and the issue of migrant homelessness and destitution more broadly. This post leads and manages NACCOM’s social media presence, ensuring strong engagement and building NACCOM visibility across its social media platforms, and will play a pivotal role int the development and delivery of a new website. Empowering people with lived experience of the asylum system and destitution to be able to tell their stories in a variety of contexts is integral to the role, as well as a good understanding of delivering a communications function for a network organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work with the External Affairs Lead to develop and implement a communications strategy.

· Manage NACCOM’s digital presence including the delivery of a new website.

· Ensure the delivery of a monthly email newsletter to supporters.

· Manage the design and publication process for NACCOM reports including our annual impact report, working with a freelance designer.

· Develop a social media strategy that drives engagement with NACCOM’s work with our key audiences and ensure regular, compelling social media posts and updates.

· Work with the Community Research Co-ordinator to build the capacity of our Community Researchers and Community Ambassadors to engage with communications projects and act as spokespeople in the media.

· Manage NACCOM’s media relations, providing a press office function and leading media strategy for discrete projects.

· Ensure brand and tone of voice consistency across all NACCOM communications outputs.

· Provide comms support with NACCOM events to the wider team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outreach, Wheelchair Skills and Wider Engagement

· Engage the widest possible range of people with spinal cord injury to sign up for further contact with Back Up, through organising and/or delivering wheelchair skills training sessions and talks for patients and families at the spinal cord injury centre in the region, general hospitals and with other key partners or locations as identified.

· Coordinate, support and manage volunteer trainers who are helping to deliver sessions and talking to patients and families.

· Lead, sustain and develop strong and effective working relationships with a wide range of health professionals and other charity representatives e.g. through presentations, calls and meetings, to ensure that people access seamless support.

Proactive Contact with People Affected by Spinal Cord Injury

· Maintain and support relationships with a large number of people affected by SCI (adults, children and young people and their parents) through regular proactive contact. This could be in person in the spinal cord injury centre, other settings or through events, telephone contact or other interactions.

· Explore their feelings, wishes and needs and provide tailored peer support to help them feel supported, access relevant services from Back Up and elsewhere through proactive referrals, and become more aware of the possibilities of life after SCI.

Networking, Partnerships and Sustainability

· Develop and maintain a map of touchpoints in the region, where people with an SCI will come into contact.

· Develop partnerships, referral routes and signposting processes to develop reach beyond the spinal cord injury centre.

· Develop and manage a network of community ambassador volunteers to support the wider work and sustainability of Back Up through fundraising and other related activities.

· Take a lead on encouraging localised fundraising activity; working towards wider income targets that support ongoing sustainability.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

· Maintaining accurate records on the database.

· Work as a team, consulting with others to ensure you give and receive high quality support.

· Keep Back Up informed of the issues affecting the people you are supporting and of developments at the spinal cord injury centre, general hospitals and other settings.

· Input into team planning and activities.

· Manage the budget relating to activities in your region.

· Help recruit new volunteers as needed to ensure a diverse team representing Back Up.

· Other duties as required by the Regional Outreach & Engagement Team Leader.

About the role

Nightstop provides safe, emergency accommodation for young people facing homelessness through a network of trained volunteer hosts.

As Nightstop Volunteer Coordinator, you will help grow and strengthen this vital network. You will attract new volunteers, guide them through safer recruitment and onboarding, and ensure existing hosts feel supported, informed and valued.

Key responsibilities include:

· Promoting volunteer opportunities through community networks, local organisations, events and online platforms

We require an individual with experience of inspecting properties, devising schedules of works and co-ordinating property works to work as part of our busy Property Services Team based in Stockport.

The Property Refurbishment Co-ordinator will contribute to the effective maintenance of company property assets and co-ordinate a variety of property related works including urgent repair works, reconfiguration works and refurbishment projects. To develop an intercultural missional discipleship programme for young adults in the UK. Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers. 

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary.You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. 

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South West region in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Somerset. There will be occasional travel around the South West Region, and you will be required to travel for quarterly face to face team meetings. 

About the team 

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in the South West, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team of 10, which includes two Regional Casework Managers and a Regional Operations Manager. 

About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

 It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the South West would be valuable

General Work Duties

· Work within health and safety guidelines and Mustard Tree policies and procedures.

· Support other staff and departments and provide practical relief cover across workstreams where required.

· Take responsibility for professional development, attending training courses and learning opportunities as required.

· Lead by example, embodying Mustard Tree values and representing the charity professionally at all times.

· Contribute towards being an environmentally responsible organisation through recycling and supporting paper-lite working practices.

· Attend training, undertake research, and maintain awareness of relevant legislation and local services including housing, benefits, mental health, domestic abuse, and budgeting support.

· Undertake any other duties relevant to the role as reasonably required by the organisation.
