The Community and Events Coordinator (Student Led Events) is a key role within the UWLSU Community and Belonging team, who are changing the way they engage, support and empower student groups at The University of West London Students’ Union. Detailed Responsibilities

1. Develop, manage and deliver REB’s event programme (working with MD and ED&I coordinator):

o upload event listings to website;

o obtain event feedback

2. Monitor and evaluate events including reviewing feedback and attendance

3. Coordinate the CEO Breakfasts series

4. Maintain the Events page on the REB website

5. Maintain a database of venues

As a Network Coordinator, you will help bring together groups, organisations and other stakeholders to drive forward campaigns to end north sea oil and gas extraction and secure a just transition for workers and communities. You will play a key role in strengthening the movement, through helping to convene highly impactful campaigning coalitions and networks, seeding and supporting campaign interventions and offering expert support & advice.

Uplift uses research, campaigning, and advocacy to support a just transition away from fossil fuels in the UK on a timeline that is commensurate with a safe climate. We are looking for a Network Coordinator to help drive forward our network building and public campaigning activities across Scotland, and the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to join Uplift at a critical time ahead of a general election and help strengthen the movement away from oil and gas in the UK and towards a just transition for workers and communities.

The role

If you’re passionate about climate justice, especially holding the UK government to account and have a coalition and movement mindset - valuing the importance of movement coordination and generosity, then this role could be perfect for you. You will need a strong understanding of the movement ecology in the UK, especially in Scotland, and understand the unique role different actors play in bringing about change.

Based in Scotland and with a good understanding of the Scottish movement ecology, you will be able to map and bring together groups, organisations, stakeholder and constituents to campaign on fossil fuels. You will strengthen partnerships and scope new allies whilst helping to drive forward campaigning interventions and mobilising groups around key moments throughout 2024 and beyond. You will work closely with key campaigning organisations in Scotland and internally with Uplifts Campaigns and Movement Building team to support network building activities across the UK.

Core responsibilities include:

• Building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, groups and organisations, across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, including with key allies campaigning to end oil and gas extraction.
• Coordinate network building and coalition activities to help strengthen the network of groups organising around a phase out of fossil fuels in the UK.
• Provide campaigning support and advice to groups wanting to take action on north sea oil and gas expansion and a just transition.
• Develop campaign resources and network communications in collaboration with key partners and networks.

• Be the first point of contact for groups and organisations in Scotland - holding the central coordination function for Uplift.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. We’re looking for two self-starting team members who will help coordinate our JUMP befriending project for unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.

You’ll be responsible for half of the befriending pairs (currently 28, increasing to 50 in the coming months) and undertake tasks such as working with our partner organisations, managing referrals for young people, recruiting volunteer befrienders, and setting-up and sustaining pairs. This includes leading an initial training day.

You’ll also provide JUMP young people with casework support, help organise our group events and facilitate support from our Hardship Fund.

Main functions

Supporting young people and the JUMP Community

1. Managing a caseload of young people; including offering casework support; arranging and attending appointments with the young person where necessary and signposting to available support.
2. Helping plan and organise quarterly group events.
3. Conducting initial assessments with young people to understand their needs, and once paired with a volunteer, hosting befriending initial meetings.

 Supervising and supporting volunteers

1. Recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new befrienders, including organising and delivering training.
2. Supporting befriending volunteers through regular supervisions, meetings, emails and phone calls, and responding promptly to any safeguarding concerns raised.
3. Ensuring that volunteers uphold JUMP’s policies and boundaries for befriending.

Publicising JUMP, and engaging with key stakeholders

1. Publicising the project to existing and potential referral agencies, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with them.
2. Representing HIAS+JCORE and JUMP in the refugee sector as required, for example at the Refugee and Migrant Children’s Consortium (RMCC) meetings.

Project monitoring, evaluation and record keeping

1. Working with experts and the JUMP Project Manager on supporting the project and its evaluation, and keeping accurate records in JUMP’s database.

1. Ensuring that JUMP informs our campaigns, communications and education work. As the project develops, there will be opportunities for the post-holder to contribute to and support these areas of our work.

• Experience of social work, youth work, or other relevant methods of supporting people in challenging circumstances.

Role details

Salary: £30,000 (pro-rata'd to £18,000)
Hours: 21 hours per week. Flexible working; some evening and weekend work will be required.
Location: Hybrid working between home and our North London office space.

Office Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

The Office Coordinator position is responsible for the general day-to-day operations of the London, UK office.  Due to the nature of this position, work must generally be performed within a 30 hours / week timeframe (M-Fri). This role is an in-office role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties upon request:

· General administration as required: call handling and forwarding, front door access controls, post management, post requests, staff access, etc.

· Support of facilities management: oversight of cleaning and maintenance contractors, management of office supplies and procurement, equipment maintenance requests, liaison with building management.

· Facilitating work from home set-ups and procurement and coordinating distribution to personnel as requested.

· Facilitating new starter set-up in collaboration with P&C (HR) & IT inclusive of onboarding, office orientation, etc.

· Responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, tidy, and professional office environment at all times.

· Ensuring the office is health and safety compliant and maintain a knowledge of UK regulations for workplace management.

· Manage any office security systems and accounts, fire drills, fire equipment maintenance, or required inspections. Maintain the fire safety equipment and ensure fire extinguishers are services and smoke alarms / detectors are functioning – conduct fire safety awareness training upon request.

· Manage corporate relationships and partnerships such as shipping vendors, office accounts, and more.

· Ensure the payment of facilities invoices within payment deadlines, including invoice tracking and coding.

· Manage and maintain key office supplies (including pantry supplies, office materials, first aid supplies, etc.). Inventory and maintenance of the storage unit.

· Manage the office access controls / visitor protocols of the office space and coordinate security enhancements / improvements upon request.

· Provides administrative support to the Grant, Contracts & Compliance Department in the coordination of contracts received to and shipped from the London office.

· Supporting staff in the office with questions, inquiries, and support needs.

ADDITIONAL AD-HOC RESPONSIBILITIES upon request may include:

· Coordinates office wide events and meetings including staff meetings, holiday events and special visitor events.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous or current office administration experience. 

· Ability to work in-person from the London-office 4 days a week.

We’re looking for a dynamic, creative and caring Community Coordinator to join our team. You’ll be primarily responsible for managing our programme of community activities, events and therapies at our wellbeing hub and garden in Camden. 

You’ll be helping to provide a place where people can find belonging and get support navigating life, as we continue to develop the Hub from its roots as a mental health day centre into an accessible, thriving community wellbeing hub.

Coordinating the curation, planning, scheduling and delivery of community projects, activities and events at the Likewise Wellbeing Hub and Garden

Coordinating the Likewise Creative Therapies service referrals and delivery

Making good use of our community facilities, garden and kitchen to support wellbeing in the community. 

Communication, Information and Relationship

Working with relationship building, conflict, rupture, and repair with, and between, community members 

Being a point of contact with community members and activity hosts

Coordinating placement student team to manage communication channels for the community, including social media, digital content and website updates

Working in collaboration and partnership with our Programme Lead, Learning Programme Coordinator and Office/Hub Administrator to realise the full potential of our Community Programme 

Community Engagement

Increasing access and engagement with the Hub from a diverse community through partnerships, informal and formal referral networks

Working with the Programme Lead to build engagement with the community programme through programming, marketing and communications

Developing and building on the participation, voice, and sense of ownership of community members in the Community Hub 

Learning, Monitoring, Evaluation

Ensuring accurate and useful data collection for the Community Programme

Implementing evaluation/learning tools and methods set up by Monitoring, Evaluation Learning Lead

Monitoring budget expenditure for Community activities, events and therapies

Community Hub Space

Working with Office/Hub Administrator to ensure the smooth running of community hub

Working with Office/Hub Administrator to ensure the hub is a welcoming, effective and well-functioning space for community members.

Supporting the function of front office and reception

Partnerships 

Maintaining relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including partner charities, volunteers, Camden Council and community members.

Managing partnerships to support and deliver community activities and events for wellbeing 

Supporting the co-production of activities and events with community members.
