With a history stretching back over 800 years, the Hereford Cathedral Almshouses Charity offers its residents a wonderful blend of historic architectural heritage with a true sense of community and belonging. The charity’s objective is “the relief of poverty through the provision of almshouse accommodation” and this has traditionally focussed on providing housing for people on lower incomes. Rooted in gospel values, its Christian ethos has ensured a unique pastoral presence and availability to residents, unlike secular housing provision. However, current trustees also recognise the need to address poverty in its less obvious manifestations such as are related to spiritual, mental and physical health, and see the role of a parish nurse as integral to achieving this. For the right person, there is a unique opportunity to integrate their nursing expertise with their faith, thereby adding a holistic dimension to the charity’s objective not previously contemplated in this way.
OUR VISION FOR THE PARISH NURSING SERVICE
While Herefordshire is a beautiful rural county, this charm hides some serious issues. National measures of poverty tend to focus on large cities, such that the specific challenges of rural or country town life—like high housing costs, transport, difficulty accessing community healthcare provision and social isolation — can often fall under the radar.
Poverty means more than lack of money although this often sits at the heart of other manifestations. Addressing matters of health and access to health and social services can, and should, be understood as another form of poverty alleviation which can have tangible benefits for the elderly, carers and young families on low incomes. Furthermore, poverty in psycho-spiritual care and dignity, particularly related to death and dying are significant issues in our rural setting.
Recognising the needs described above, the Hereford Cathedral Almshouses Charity has embarked on a strategy committed to alleviating such poverty. In an effort to provide groundbreaking pastoral, social and practical support for our communities, the trustees, in conjunction with the Chapter of Hereford Cathedral would like to appoint a Parish Nurse. This would initially be to support the residents of the Almshouses, with the intention, in due course, of expanding the service to those in the wider community, including potential collaboration with other local organisations.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Parish Nurse will play a vital role in helping to achieve holistic pastoral care by supporting and building relationships with the residents of the Almshouses in Hereford and Ledbury, and being appropriately available to support the community associated with Hereford Cathedral which has a growing number of elderly people and young families.
Responsible to the Dean of Hereford and linked with Parish Nursing Ministries UK (PNMUK), the Parish Nurse is to provide nursing support to recipients, regardless of their faith position. This support will integrate spiritual, physical, psychological, emotional and social health to the residents of our Almshouses in Hereford and Ledbury, and the wider cathedral community. Supported by the Steering Group, the Parish Nurse will be accountable to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Chapter of Hereford Cathedral, the Hereford Cathedral Almshouses Charity, and a spiritual supervisor who will be determined in due course.

AHF is seeking to appoint 3.5 FTE new Grants Officers to help deliver our core grants and advisory programme across England. These roles have been created following the recent announcement of significant new investment, which will support the expansion of the Heritage Revival Fund through to March 2029. This investment will enable AHF, in partnership with DCMS and Historic England, to provide grants to hundreds of communities across England, helping them bring neglected historic buildings back into use.
The postholders will be responsible for assessing and managing a caseload of projects within a defined area of England, joining an existing team of Grants Officers. They will advise and guide projects through each stage of the project lifecycle, from early viability through to capital works. They will ensure that grants, where offered, are allocated and monitored in accordance with programme criteria and priorities and will work closely with external partners to support shared objectives.
We are looking for candidates with strong experience in grant-making and project management, who can work collaboratively as part of a remote team and who can demonstrate a clear interest in AHF’s mission to promote the conservation and sustainable re‑use of historic buildings for the benefit of communities across the UK. JOB PURPOSE
The Major Giving Lead – Individual Donors is a senior, strategic role within Magic Breakfast’s unified Major Giving function, acting as the organisation’s expert on philanthropy. This role will lead and manage relationships with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), ensuring exceptional donor care, long-term engagement, and the growth of transformational gifts.
Working closely with the Head of Major Giving, the Major Giving Lead will help develop and embed a cohesive Major Giving strategy, fostering strong synergies across the Major Giving team. In partnership with the other Major Giving Lead (Trust & Foundations) this role will create unified stewardship programmes, prospect development strategies, and engagement opportunities, ensuring a seamless and compelling experience for donors across all major giving streams. It will also work closely with the Business Development Manager (Scotland) to ensure effective ways of working across devolved nations and to unlock opportunities for HNWI in Scotland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and team collaboration

In partnership with other teams and departments, develop, test and roll out new data-driven approaches to target and reach new HNWI and other major giving audiences.
Work with our Prospect Researcher Manager to identify and execute opportunities to grow our prospect pool, including from across other teams, and to facilitate personal introductions and meetings with yourself or other Magic Breakfast employees/ volunteers – providing relevant briefings where appropriate.
Support and collaborate with the Business Development Manager (Scotland) where shared funder relationships or new opportunities arise.
Develop and implement tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for new and existing HNWIs, leveraging and building relationships within and across Magic Breakfast networks’ to support our fundraising objectives.
Support, and where required lead, on the delivery of cross-organisational projects including any major giving campaigns, collaborating closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Brand & Marketing, and other relevant teams, to project manage effectively and ensure activity is informed by insights and organisational expertise, and delivers against its KPIs with a strong return on investment.
Maintain a strong knowledge of the organisation strategy, business plan and opportunities for innovation and ‘value-add’, to identify and build accurate and inspiring giving propositions, wish lists and a persuasive case for support
Ensure exceptional relationship management and donor reporting, with high-quality donor care and stewardship techniques that speak to the motivations and interests of our donors, exploring ways to build our donor community – such as through giving circles.
Work with colleagues across the Major Giving and other income generation teams to design and deliver a calendar of bespoke engagement opportunities, events and experiences for donors and prospects, ensuring high-quality execution and timely reviews.
Champion innovation in donor journeys, engagement campaigns, and communications to maximize supporter impact and retention, ensuring everyone is aligned behind clear, measurable goals and delivers with purpose and consistency.
Work with the Head of Individual Giving and Engagement to establish a clear mid-level giving programme and to ensure opportunities and leads are recognised and developed where possible and that there is a high-level of stewardship.
Financial Processes, Reporting, and Due Diligence
Support the Head of Major Giving to conduct effective annual planning and budgeting, setting, measuring and reporting against agreed KPIs and utilising data and insights to inform decisions and future planning.
Support the Head of Major Giving to prepare phased budgets and reforecasts, identifying and recognising opportunities and risks to income in line with activity plans and progress.
Ensure all HNWI income and activity is reconciled and recorded on Magic Breakfast database systems (Salesforce) with relevant supporting documents, including gift aid and gift instruments in place.
Work with finance and performance and relevant business leads to manage programme budgets and restrictions.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and Experience

About the Role
UK SMART Recovery is seeking a highly motivated Community Coordinator to join our small, passionate team. In this role, you will:
Onboard, support and mentor our amazing SMART Recovery facilitators across The Midlands and London.
Work closely with our highly valued partner organisations running SMART meetings within their services.
Deliver training, guidance, and workshops for our peer and partner facilitators.
Contribute to projects and service development to help grow UK SMART Recovery even further.
Help ensure SMART meetings are high-quality, accessible, and safe for participants.
Foster an inclusive, empowering environment for facilitators and participants alike.
Regions covered:

About You
To succeed as a Community Coordinator, you will have:
Experience facilitating groups or meetings, ideally in recovery, peer-support, mental health, or behaviour-change settings.
Ability to support, mentor, and develop volunteer facilitators.
Strong presentation and communication skills, online and in-person.
Self-motivation, organisation, and ability to manage workload and regional travel independently.
Emotional intelligence and groundedness, with experience supporting people who have faced adversity.
A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
Qualified SMART Recovery facilitator or previous participant.
Lived experience of recovery (personal or close to someone else).
Experience in peer mentoring, volunteer support, or community development.

About You
You will have a proven track record securing five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals and running sophisticated donor stewardship programmes. The funding environment has shifted fast. Alexandra Rose needs to be sharper, more strategic and more commercially literate than the traditional charity model allows. This role exists to make that happen.
We are looking for a senior funding leader who is comfortable operating as a “department of one” within a small but ambitious organisation. Trusts and Foundations prospecting and bid writing will form a core part of the role, working closely with the CEO and senior team. Beyond that, you will build and steward high-value funder relationships, develop and secure corporate partnerships aligned with our values, test new income models, and help us adapt confidently to a fast-changing landscape.
This is a senior leadership position. You will work closely with the CEO and Head of Finance to shape organisational direction and build a resilient, full-cost-recovery funding model that protects quality, depth and long-term impact.
This is a remote role, with a requirement to regularly attend meetings and events (mainly London but on occasions project areas elsewhere in the UK).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership
• Deliver the current funding strategy, which includes Trusts & Foundations grant funding, corporate donations, and testing new potential ways to generate income.
• Monitor sector trends, opportunities and risks, and reposition the charity as needed.
• Work closely with the CEO and Head of Finance to align income planning with organisational priorities and financial forecasting.
• Build simple, effective systems for pipeline development, forecasting and reporting.
Trusts & Foundations
• Lead the trusts and foundations portfolio, working closely with the CEO to secure multi-year, core and expansion funding, including directly leading on the writing of funding bids. This will be a core part of the role.
• Develop compelling, well-evidenced funding proposals rooted in our mission and impact.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with funders.
Corporate Donations & Partnerships
• Manage and grow existing corporate relationships, ensuring partnerships remain values-aligned, purposeful and mutually beneficial.
• Identify and develop new appropriate corporate donors and partners, informed by research into corporate giving, ESG and CSR trends.
• Shape and evolve a clear, credible and cost-effective corporate engagement offer that supports long-term organisational sustainability.
New income streams
• Scope, test and (if viable) deliver new earned-income models, such as corporate engagement models.
• Develop proof-of-concept approaches and evaluate their feasibility.
• Support the organisation to diversify and strengthen its income base.
Collaboration & leadership culture
• Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to organisation-wide strategy and decision-making.
• Build a transparent, mature, collaborative culture around income generation.
• Ensure the wider team understands funding opportunities, constraints and strategic choices.
