Harehills Girls and young women's empowerment worker

The main role of this post is to plan, facilitate and evaluate groupwork programmes as part of our new Harehills Young women Thrive project based at Getaway Girls new satellite base, The Hills.

Getaway Girls is a Leeds based young women's charity which has empowered young women to build confidence, resilience, aspirations and skills for over 38 years.

About Deaf Unity

About the role

This is a varied role where you will take the lead on coordinating, developing and promoting Deaf Unity’s training provision. Our training includes BSL courses, e-learning, and bespoke training for organisations.

What you’ll be doing

Training coordination and delivery

• Managing enquiries from individuals and organisations and converting these into bookings
• Coordinating the delivery of BSL courses, training sessions and bespoke programmes
• Booking trainers, teachers and students, including exam bookings where required
• Acting as the main point of contact for learners, clients and freelance tutors
• Ensuring training is delivered smoothly and to a high standard

About you

We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident building relationships. You will be comfortable balancing delivery with growth and working independently.

Every role at Thames Reach is about ensuring that the users of our services find and sustain a decent home, develop supportive relationships and lead fulfilling lives. On our structured Traineeship scheme, you’ll gain first-hand experience and on-the-job training in what we do. You’ll be expected to work full time on a rota basis. Our placements involve a range of working patterns such as shifts, including evenings and weekends, night work in our fast-paced Rapid Response Outreach team and Monday to Friday 9-5 roles.

• A thorough induction, followed by two six-month placements at our projects, one of which will be hostel-based.

• With supervision and training from experienced employees to help our clients to get off and stay off the street with access to appropriate services.

GFS is seeking a strategic, proactive and values-led Communications Manager to lead the delivery of our communications function and elevate our profile across audiences and platforms. The role will support the shaping and delivery of a communications strategy that amplifies our voice, showcases our impact, and builds trust and engagement with our community. You’ll work across all areas of the organisation to coordinate messaging, manage risk and lead communications activity that reflects our feminist values and purpose.

The Communications Manager will oversee digital content, media relations, marketing and digital fundraising campaigns, working in close collaboration with the CEO, Leadership team and wider team. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Non-Medical Prescriber to join Change Grow Live Tower Hamlets Service. You will be an integral member of a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team delivering recovery orientated alcohol and drug intervention services.

Our NMP's are integral members of our multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, delivering recovery orientated alcohol and drug intervention services. Offering care for presenting clients, prescribing and/or making amendments to prescriptions of opiate and/or alcohol substitute treatments and other related medications, they take a lead role in developing the prescribing clinic, acting as a point of contact for other workers and partner agencies around prescribing issues.

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 per week

Salary: £47,792.23 - £53,329.99 Dependent on experience (Based on full time hours, pro rata for part time)

Responsibilities

About the role: 

• Assess, diagnose, plan; implement and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for service users. 
• Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness appropriate to service user needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and local protocols, and within scope of practice. 
• Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the service user in complex, urgent or emergency situations seeking immediate advice and direction from the Clinical Lead if needed. 
• Assess, update, and refer service users for BBV vaccination and immunisation programmes. Support service users to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles. 
• Communicate effectively with service users and carers, anticipating barriers to communication and recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and preferred ways of communicating.

About you: 

• Qualified pharmacist with current GPhC registration and two year’s post qualification experience OR First level registered nurse with a current PIN AND three years post qualification experience 
• Qualified Non-Medical Prescriber 
• At least one year’s relevant and recent experience of working within substance misuse treatment. 
• Sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions 
• Ability to assess and recovery plan service users and formulate written reports, as necessary. 
• Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, verbally and in writing. 
• Full driving licence and access to own transport, or ability to demonstrate easy movement between services, if necessary

Single Homeless Project (SHP) and Islington Council are proud to introduce St. John’s Mansions - a brand-new, purpose-built accommodation service that will provide safe, high-quality housing for individuals experiencing homelessness and facing multiple exclusion. This innovative project is backed by the GLA’s Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP), and represents a bold step forward in tackling homelessness across North London. SHP are building a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking team to bring this vision to life. 

St. John’s Mansions will offer 19 beautifully finished self-contained studio flats, designed to support residents in their journey from rough sleeping and emergency accommodation to independent living. With a stay of up to 24 months, residents will receive tailored, high-intensity support to help them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive independently. 

The service will operate 24/7, with a welcoming reception and dedicated staff & clients spaces to enable both structured interventions and spontaneous, meaningful engagement. SHP will be working not only within Islington but in partnership with five North London boroughs - Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster. You’ll hold a caseload of clients and take the lead on delivering person centred, strengths based support that is grounded in PIE and trauma informed approaches. This includes completing holistic assessments, co-producing support plans and risk management plans, and working consistently towards move on goals. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in the day to day running of the service, working closely with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain a safe, well managed environment, respond to emerging needs, and ensure each client receives coordinated, high quality support that supports their journey into independent living.

African Revival is a small, passionate charity based in Surrey. For more than 20 years we have been dedicated to building schools and improving access to education for children in some of the most disadvantaged communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Since 2005, we have worked with over 300 primary and nursery schools in Uganda, South Sudan and (until recently) Zambia, to allow over 120,000 children to fulfil their potential. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Executive Director to lead and grow African Revival. This is an opportunity for a hands-on charity leader to strengthen our operations and governance, build sustainable income through fundraising and partnerships, and help expand our impact for children and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Governance & operations: ensure statutory and other reporting requirements are met in the UK and overseas; establish and maintain appropriate policies and procedures; manage day-to-day organisational administration; coordinate and attend Board and committee meetings and prepare papers.
• Leadership & stakeholder management: build and maintain close working relationships with UK and in-country staff, volunteers, trustees, donors and partners; champion a positive, inclusive culture. Help shape the charity’s strategic growth and long-term sustainability
• Finance oversight: uphold rigorous financial controls in partnership with the Finance Manager; support budgeting and forecasting (e.g., cashflow, movement in funds, in-country budgets); approve expenditure and monitor budget versus actuals, keeping the Treasurer and trustees appropriately informed.
• Fundraising & external relations: lead the coordination and delivery of key fundraising activity (including major events such as our annual Ball and Golf Day); research and submit applications to trusts and foundations; act as a public representative and ambassador for African Revival.
• Programme support & impact: work with UK and in-country teams to identify priorities, design and cost activities, and monitor progress and impact; strengthen monitoring, evaluation and learning so we can evidence outcomes and continuously improve.
• Communications: oversee communications and reporting to donors and stakeholders, and support an engaging online presence across our website and social channels.

About you

Essential

• Senior leadership experience (in a charity, social enterprise, or non-profit organisation preferred but not essential).
• Proven ability to build and deliver fundraising activity (events, trusts & foundations, major donors and/or corporate partnerships).
• Strong operational and governance capability, including working effectively with a Board of Trustees.
• Sound financial oversight skills, with the ability to understand budgets, forecasts and financial controls.
• Excellent communication skills—able to represent African Revival credibly with donors, partners and stakeholders.

Role: To engage Chatham’s diverse communities in the heritage of St John’s Chatham. This role will be
responsible for working with local community groups to develop and deliver activities and programmes
to involve young people aged 14 – 24 years old, low income families, older adults over 55 years old,
homeless and vulnerably housed people and local schools as part of the major community programme
at St John’s Chatham.

Principal accountabilities
● Through engagement with local community groups create a programme that results in St John’s becoming a multipurpose space for the local community.
● Develop, manage and deliver community engagement projects to interpret the history of St John’s, based on research gathered by the Research & Development Consultant.
● Work with the Volunteer & Training Co-ordinator to explore the potential for a community based café that is used as a centre for the local community to meet and learn new skills and make new friends
● Work with local community organisations to create programmes that support the development of skills, such as budgeting, cooking, gardening, English as a second language etc
● Create and maintain an arts and crafts area within the café of St John’s that inspires people to respond to the heritage around them
● In collaboration with the Research Development Consultant identify potential speakers and deliver a programme of talks about the heritage of St John’s, Waterloo churches and Chatham.
● Develop a programme of events to test if there is a market for evening events at St John’s, including but not exclusively, concerts, silent discos, film showing
● Develop and deliver, in collaboration with local community partners a regular programme of events for different audiences
● Facilitating positive and effective partnerships between community groups, public sector bodies and stakeholders to support the Activity Programme.
● Lead on the external communications for the programme via social media channels and local media where appropriate

The Engagement Development Executive plays a key operational support role in supporting the charity’s engagement development activity. The role ensures that information, reporting, and resources are accurate, current, and accessible, enabling the organisation to respond effectively to funding opportunities, partnerships, and engagement needs while clearly demonstrating impact for the families we support.

Working closely with and in support of the Programmes Manager, the postholder underpins proposal development, reporting, and stewardship by coordinating high‑quality engagement, project, and impact information across teams.

Key Responsibilities 

Reporting, Data & Insights

• Collate engagement, project, and impact reports, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and readiness for internal and external reporting.
• Maintain dashboards and trackers, ensuring data is current and supports effective decision‑making and accountability.
• Develop and update impact report templates to ensure consistent reporting across partners and funders.

Porposal & Pipeline Management 

• Manage the proposal pipeline tracker, maintaining accurate records and reporting readiness.
• Collate and organise proposal information required for submissions, ensuring deadlines and funder requirements are met.
• Support proposal development by aligning appropriate family case studies, testimonials, and feedback with funding opportunities.

Resource & Content Management 

• Maintain the Engagement resource library, ensuring content remains relevant, up to date, and easily accessible.
• Create clear, fundable opportunity information documents to support fundraising and partnership activity.

Stakeholder & Team Support

• Respond to requests from the Engagement team, providing timely support for proposal development and reporting needs.
• Provide coordination and administrative support to the Engagement Development Manager, including organising engagement, project, and impact information to support strategic planning, reporting, and oversight.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience supporting engagement, fundraising, development, or programme activity within a charity or purpose‑led organisation.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail, particularly when working with data, reports, and written content.
• Experience using trackers, dashboards, CRMs, or data management systems to maintain accurate records and reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with experience managing and presenting data; familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is desirable.
• Understanding of fundraising or proposal development processes, including the use of impact reporting and family case studies.
• Experience maintaining shared resources or knowledge libraries.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write in line with organisational tone and values.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and the ability to handle sensitive information with care and discretion.

What you’ll be doing

• Providing expert advice and guidance to branches and regions on all volunteer management matters.
• Analysing complex or sensitive situations to identify key issues, risks, and appropriate courses of action.
• Developing and delivering initiatives and projects that strengthen and enhance the volunteer experience at Samaritans.
• Drafting clear, well-structured and professional written communications, including reports and formal correspondence.
• Supporting learning, training and resources that build confidence and capability in Volunteer Leaders.
• Contributing to the development and refinement of volunteer policies, processes and guidance.
• Supporting the fair, balanced and proportionate handling and effective resolution of volunteer concerns and complaints
• Identifying themes, risks, and organisational learning opportunities to inform continuous improvement.

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a charity and membership society for those working or interested in tropical medicine and global health. We currently have around 2,000 members and Fellows from more than 100 countries, with a network of more than 10,000 involved with our work in some way.

RSTMH currently publishes two peer-reviewed scientific journals, Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (TRSTMH) and International Health. TRSTMH was launched in 1908, is published monthly, and is a hybrid journal. International Health was launched in 2009, is published bi-monthly, and is Open Access. In September 2025, we announced the development of a new journal looking at the use of Artificial Intelligence in Global Health, which will be launching around May 2026. All three journals are published by Oxford University Press (OUP) and are supported by a global team of dedicated Editorial Boad members.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with relevant publishing experience to support the operation of our three academic journals. The role will involve providing administrative and editorial support to the Managing Editor, liaising with our authors, reviewers, external editors, and publishing partner, contributing to and - where appropriate - leading on journal development initiatives, and collaborating with internal teams within the RSTMH.

The role

• Check new submissions to ensure that they are in scope and formatted as per journal guidelines, before assigning to handling editors.
• Check revised submissions are formatted as per journal guidelines, before assigning to handling editors
• Check and export accepted manuscripts to production team at OUP, working with the Editors in Chief (EiC) to ensure all required information is included.
• Monitor manuscripts in process, working with editors, reviewers, authors and Managing Editor to identify and reduce unnecessary delays for authors.
• Be the first point of contact for authors, editors, and reviewers by monitoring the journals inbox, helping to resolve any disputes that arise within the peer review process or escalating to Managing Editor, as necessary within agreed timings.
• Help manage the relationships with RSTMH Editorial Boards through regular communication (e.g., Newsletters) in addition to reminders/assignment emails sent through the submission system.
• Assist the Managing Editor with administrative tasks for the journals including coordinating meetings Editorial Boards, publisher, etc., setting up webinars, taking minutes of key meetings.
• Oversee reporting on all aspects of manuscript processing and handling editor metrics (turnaround times, acceptance rates, etc.,) and share these with a number of stakeholders
• Work with Editorial Board to identify articles with wider interest and highlight them to Managing Editor, EiCs, RSTMH team and publisher, and consider ways of further promoting them to raise the profile of the journals and RSTMH.
• Utilise social media and other digital publishing technologies (X, LinkedIn, blogs, podcasts, etc) to promote published articles/new issues and raise the profile of the journals.
• Develop journal news/content for the RSTMH Newsletter website, and social media
• Help ensure the work and outputs of the journals are integrated with other areas of RSTMH, through sharing information across systems
• Support the Managing Editor with the implementation of RSTMH strategic objectives and OUP Development Plans.
• Assist the Managing Editor with new business including researching and identifying authors and groups for potential commissioned articles or supplements
• Support the Managing Editor on journal development initiatives (e.g., Ed Board recruitment, mentoring), taking the lead on projects where appropriate.
• Keep up to date with publishing trends more generally and use this information to make recommendations to Managing Editor/EiCs to improve the efficiency of existing processes.
• Support and contribute to wider RSTMH activities when required to do so (e.g., RSTMH Annual Meeting).

Person Specification

Essential

• Passion and commitment to the work and goals of the Society
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an academic publishing role, in a learned society, membership organisation, or publisher.
• Knowledge of major publishing trends, academic conventions, and editorial processes.
• At least 2 years’ experience of using a journal management system such as Editorial Manager, ScholarOne, etc, as well as MS office products.
• Ability to work effectively, both as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent time-management and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet multiple deadlines.
• Strong and proven communication skills, both written and verbal, good attention to detail, and the ability to converse professionally with a range of stakeholders.
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent), ideally in a relevant subject.

Desirable

• Interest in science communication and experience using social media and other digital publishing technologies (X, LinkedIn, blogs, podcasts, etc) to communicate complex information to a range of audiences.
