About the role
This role will help to drive forward the public health, inclusion, and awareness team’s work across the UK, which is to empower patients and the public to play a full role in managing their own risk of getting breast cancer, diagnosing breast cancer earlier and improving their quality of life after a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing the risk of recurrence.
You will work closely with the Public health, inclusion and awareness manager to support the growth and expansion of a public health talks programme, leading on public health talks coordination. The programme is delivered through trained volunteers who are spread across the UK.
Your role will consist of coordination between individuals and organisations enquiring about booking public health talks as well as supporting with drop-in sessions for volunteers. You will also support the manager to update resources, action feedback from stakeholders and work with other teams within the charity such as volunteering. You will support with day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth running of the wider public health, inclusion and awareness team.
This role involves frequent communication with a range of people through email, telephone and over MS Teams. You will use our database (Unity) to log all communications and to keep track of talks progress. Our database also tracks volunteer training and availability. Alongside our database, our volunteer portal allows you to interact with all the public health volunteers at once for events, online talks and resources.
About you
You will be highly organised, able to manage priorities and have excellent verbal and written skills. You will have solid customer service or stakeholder engagement experience. An excellent communicator who can handle issues sensitively. Additionally, you will have strong IT skills and have some experience with databases and GDPR or compliance.

You’ll be a generalist Student Advisor while also while also taking the lead on student finance and money advice. You'll become our team's specialist in this area, helping students understand their funding options, access financial support and navigate financial challenges. As a generalist advisor you’ll be providing advice and guidance across all areas of the Advice Service, including academic issues and regulations, University disciplinary procedures, housing and wider student life matters.
With the rising cost of living and increasing complexity of student funding, you’ll play a key role in helping students access the financial support they need and empowering them to make informed decisions. We’re looking for someone who can support students professionally, sensitively and with empathy, ensuring they feel heard, informed and confident about their next steps.
You’ll enjoy this role if you have an interest in money advice and financial wellbeing, alongside a curiosity about the law and an enthusiasm for understanding regulations, policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills are essential, together with the ability to respond compassionately to students experiencing distress or crisis while providing practical advice and support.
Alongside one to one advice, the Advice Service delivers supported self-help resources, preventative campaigns and outreach activities to help students access information before problems escalate. If you enjoy engaging with people, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to website and social media content, deliver presentations and workshops, attend promotional events and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders across the University community.
You’ll be part of a small, supportive and dedicated team, working in a busy and varied environment where student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We’ll support your development through ongoing training and continuing professional development, helping you build expertise across all areas of our advice service while developing specialist knowledge in student finance. You’ll also benefit from regular opportunities for reflection and wellbeing support, including access to external restorative supervision.
Experience of providing student finance or money advice is desirable. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with experience in advice, welfare, support work, professional student services or other settings who can demonstrate transferable skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for supporting students.

The Bexley Health & Wellbeing Coaching Service is delivered through a partnership of voluntary and community organisations working together to improve health and wellbeing outcomes across the borough. Bringing together a diverse range of local charities and community organisations, the partnership combines specialist knowledge, trusted community relationships, and local expertise to support residents to live healthier, more independent lives.
While coaches will be employed and hosted by partner organisations, they will form part of a borough-wide Health & Wellbeing Coaching team.
Working with households, the CHWW will build trusted relationships with individuals and families, identify health and social needs, provide personalised health promotion and behaviour change support, and connect residents to appropriate health, social care and community services.
