Job description

The Digital Engagement Officer will lead on writing copy for our digital comms, focusing on our member and supporter mailings, website and social media, and manage our mailing list and inboxes. We’re looking for someone with experience of managing mailing lists and writing copy for a variety of audiences and actions.

You should have experience crafting digital communications that motivate people to take action, and be excited about creating journeys over time that integrate the threads of our fundraising, national campaigns, local organising and ideas output together into the story of Compass. You should have a background in digital engagement, specifically in direct marketing through mailings or copywriting for fundraising and campaigning, ideally with a familiarity with CRM software and GDPR regulations. You should be a self-starter, with a proven ability to self-organise and comfortable working in a small, dynamic team. You should have a keen understanding of the political landscape in which Compass operates and be interested in progressive political ideas and working in a pluralist way to make change happen.

This role involves:

  • Writing copy for mailings, blogs, website content and social media that is compelling, accessible, imaginative and aligned with Compass’s tone of voice and core script.
  • Writing and editing with various actions in mind, including event invitations, fundraising asks and campaigns.
  • Proofreading mailings, publications, funding bids.
  • Developing our voice and core scripts, particularly around specific campaigns or fundraising drives.
  • Digital content creation (e.g. graphics, podcast clips).
  • Maintaining and updating our CRM records including donor information.
  • Managing our inboxes to connect to supporters and steward our members.
