The Sporting Events Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for securing income from individuals and groups fundraising through sporting events, and effectively account managing relationships to maximise income.
The Sporting Events Officer role will play a significant part in contributing to a high-performing fundraising team. You will work closely with the Sporting Events Manager and Head of Sporting Events and Volunteering to drive the continued growth of the charity’s sporting event fundraising income. You will also be required to show excellent organisation and relationship-building skills to support partnerships with third party events, internally developed products and related marketing providers, to drive towards agreed targets.
Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Account management and strategic support
· Support the Sporting Events Manager (SEM) / Head of Sporting Events and Volunteering (HSEV) in delivering the Sporting Events strategy for ARUK to increase income within this stream
· Support the SEM to develop and manage the portfolio of third-party sporting events and internally developed products for ARUK
· Successful account management of third-party event suppliers as agreed with SEM/HSEV
· Seek opportunities to expand and improve event portfolio, keeping abreast of industry trends and competitor activity.
· To maximise income through developing and managing an agreed portfolio of events, focusing on supporter care processes and the retention of supporters. The role will include targets related to specific events
· Work with SEM to develop budgets and targets for key areas of work
Supporter Management/Experience
· Provide excellent customer service to existing fundraising supporters (including maintaining a polite, enthusiastic manner with prompt responses to enquiries), to acknowledge support and increase long-term loyalty
· Keeping an accurate record of fundraising outcomes, for reporting both internally and externally
· Keep up to date with fundraising legislation and codes of practice to be able to provide relevant advice to fundraisers
· To support the SEM in overseeing appropriate staff and volunteer representation at third party events. This will include attending events across the UK in person.
· Ensure volunteers and fundraisers have all necessary materials for fundraising initiatives
· Work with supporters across a number of digital channels ensuring we are communicating with them in the channel most relevant to them. To include building and managing online social groups.
Event/Project Management
· To plan, manage and deliver successful events through relationship management of suppliers and logistics companies, in addition to volunteers
· To work with the events team to organise pre-/post-event receptions as appropriate
· To work in collaboration with the Digital and Communications departments to ensure that a programme of PR and communication is in place that promotes and supports the planned activities
· To develop and deliver process enhancements with the SEM to allow the team to maintain high performance as the number of supporters grows.
Monitoring and Reporting
· Ensure that sporting event activity is monitored and evaluated, clearly communicating progress to SEM/HSEV
· Utilise event analytics to highlight risks, success and inform marketing strategy.
· Manage relevant information on the charity’s database, keeping detailed, up-to-date records of activity and income
· Track and record contact with third party event providers and fundraisers for reporting purposes
What we are looking for:
· Knowledge of the events fundraising market, ideally sporting events

· Experience of fundraising in a sporting context (personal or professional)
· Experience of working with digital technologies and online communities

Additional Information:
Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Requirements
To be successful, you will need:
- Education to degree level or equivalent work experience in relevant areas.
- A track record of Partnership Management including proven experience of growing and developing partnerships with companies.
- Experience of writing high quality and engaging proposals and reports for a corporate audience as well as experience of making presentations to senior level contacts and / or large groups of employees.
- Able to forge effective working relationships with people at all levels inside and outside the organisation and across a range of industries and differing business cultures.
Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have:
- Knowledge of international development and understanding of overseas development issues.
- Experience of developing corporate accounts over £100,000.
- Experience of Payroll Giving scheme.

- Implementation of a strategic plan to significantly increase major donor income, with a target of 17.5% of overall revenue within 3 years.

- Execution of market research and competitor analysis to identify new funding opportunities and best practice in Philanthropic fundraising.

Major Donor Development
- Manage a designated caseload of high-net-worth individuals or trusts, cultivating deep and meaningful relationships.

- Evaluate philanthropy activities with the rest of the team and the Fundraising Insight & Innovation team to develop a deeper understanding of supporters and identify new prospects, making data-informed decisions.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Philanthropy Team.
- Create opportunities for supporters to engage at a senior level and deepen their relationship with CAP, working with the CEO and other senior staff.
Communications & Campaign Management:
- Plan philanthropy initiatives that in order to produce excellent bids, proposals, events, and reports, delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with the Brand and Digital Engagement teams to align messaging and campaigns.
- Ensure philanthropy plans align with brand guidelines and fundraising regulations.
Measurable Outputs:
- Implementation of an annual philanthropy plan that contributes to the wider long-term fundraising strategy.

Skills required
- A proven fundraiser who can inspire, influence and deliver results

Overview of the Regional Coordinator role and the team

Relationship Management

Role Summary
Development Group generates philanthropic and sponsorship income to help us create a Natural History Museum for the future – investing in capital development, attaining vital acquisitions for the collection, transforming our galleries, developing innovative exhibitions and undertaking ground-breaking scientific research on issues that affect us all.
Reporting into the Head of Resources & Planning, this role provides the opportunity to join a Development operations team in driving forward the exciting, ambitious and transformational NHM150 campaign. You will have the opportunity to be innovative and proactive, as well as utilise your creativity, project management and organisational skills to oversee donor recognition and ensure we are providing a consistent and best in sector experience for our donors and partners.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Stewardship and supporter journey
- Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy and Head of Corporate Partnerships, lead the development of a structured, overarching stewardship programme that works across the Museum. Take a supporter journey approach and ensure the programme includes a creative and innovative range of benefits and recognition to foster well-managed, mutually beneficial and lasting relationships with funders.
- Coordinate stewardship efforts and work with colleagues to produce tailored stewardship plans.
- Provide strategic and day-to-day advice and guidance to staff on stewardship.
Funder recognition
- Work with the Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships departments to ensure a cohesive approach to the funder benefits matrix and recognition and acknowledgement.
- Advise and lead on funder inclusion with event and event material including, speeches, invites and associated thanking moments
- Lead on the creation and implementation of a funder recognition strategy for each major project and giving mechanism, ensuring consistency with the Museum’sdeli Naming and Recognition Policy and including, but not limited to, funder boards and naming opportunities.
- Lead for Development on work with the Design, Comms, Marketing and Digital team to develop agreed frameworks and ‘lock-ups’ for the NHM’s brand and visual identity. Create agreed procedures to ensure sign-off by all parties which is effective and well-communicated.
Communications and reporting
- Support colleagues in researching, writing and producing high-quality impact reports for funders in line with Deeds of Gift, contracts and other agreements.
- Support the creation of the Museum’s Annual Review, Annual Report and similar impact reporting; ensuring appropriate funder recognition.
- Manage the annual Season’s Greetings cards creation and distribution
Other responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with a diverse group of Museum stakeholders, to ensure stewardship plans and activities are successfully coordinated and delivered.
- Responsible for oversight of Supporter Cards for key Development supporters, working with the Database team to create and distribute.

- Record essential information accurately and appropriately, using Development Group systems and the Raiser’s Edge database. This includes tracking agreed and live negotiations for funder recognition and commitments on major projects.

This exciting opportunity plays a key role in delivering impactful, multi-channel fundraising campaigns. The successful candidate will manage high-value projects across channels such as digital, direct mail, DRTV, and telemarketing, supporting income growth through regular giving, lotteries, cash appeals, raffles, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage end-to-end fundraising campaigns across a range of channels including digital, direct mail, DRTV, dialogue, lottery, and raffles—ensuring compliance, timely delivery, and budget management.
- Support strategic development by evaluating campaign performance, contributing insights, and making data-driven recommendations to inform future Individual Giving strategy.
- Oversee campaign budgets, including forecasting, processing invoices, monitoring variances, and supporting the development of annual income and expenditure plans.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring campaigns align with brand guidelines, fundraising strategy, and organisational goals.
- Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance on campaign delivery, professional development, and internal processes.
- Champion continuous improvement, staying up to date with sector trends, contributing to team planning, and actively supporting diversity and inclusion within the organisation.
Person Specification:
- Proven experience managing campaigns across at least two fundraising channels (e.g. face-to-face, telemarketing, direct mail, DRTV, or digital), with strong understanding of creative processes, data segmentation, and campaign evaluation.
- Skilled in setting and monitoring budgets, working to KPIs, analysing campaign performance, and supporting data-driven decision making.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy in all aspects of campaign delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, and ability to give clear, constructive creative feedback.
- Confident using Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook), with analytical and numeracy skills and familiarity with database and data briefing tools.
- Proactive in personal development and supporting others, demonstrating flexibility, team spirit, and problem-solving capabilities in a fast-paced, changing environment.

We deliver intensive therapeutic programs within educational and community settings, empowering young people to confront the underlying causes of their emotional distress and work toward healing. To create lasting, sustainable change, we also work to establish trauma-informed environments around young people by equipping parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals with the tools they need to offer effective, supportive care. About the role:
The purpose of this role is to build and manage Khulisa's high-impact partnerships with schools, communities, and corporates that generate income and expand the reach of our therapeutic programmes. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Identifying, initiating, cultivating and managing relationships with schools, Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs), Local Authorities
- Working closely with Khulisa's Head of Programmes and Participation to develop, implement and regularly review our schools engagement plan
- Developing and maintaining relationships with corporate partners to generate financial support, sponsorships, and other forms of engagement
- Maintaining a record of and report on partnership pipelines, engagement outcomes, and income forecasts and actuals

The post holder will be required to work from home permanently but be willing and able to easily travel to various locations across the London and the North West as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role and to engage with stakeholders and colleagues.

- Experience of generating new partnership engagements from schools and/or other youth spaces and to secure their participation in social impact projects where resources are pooled.
- Ability to identify new opportunities for partnerships and initiate engagements, including knowing when to bring in senior colleagues to maximise the chance of success.
- Experience of manage multiple and diverse stakeholder groups, to recognise shared values, and secure commitment to joint-working.
- Experience of creating compelling digital presentations for a variety of audiences, using PowerPoint or similar software. • Ability to buy strongly into strategic objectives and reflect passion for Khulisa’s work with young people.

Knowledge/Skills
