We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Gambling Wellbeing Practitioner to join our clinical team. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead, CBT Therapists, Gambling Therapists, Recovery Workers, and external partners to support individuals experiencing gambling-related harm.

This role focuses on delivering evidence-based, psychologically informed interventions that promote recovery, emotional wellbeing, social inclusion, and positive long-term outcomes. You will support assessments, care planning, low-intensity therapeutic interventions, safeguarding responsibilities, and partnership working across services.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about mental health, addiction recovery, and helping people rebuild their lives.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Practice:

  • Deliver psychologically informed wellbeing interventions to individuals affected by gambling-related harm.
  • Support assessments and formulation of emotional, psychological, and social needs.
  • Help service users identify goals and develop recovery-focused care plans.
  • Deliver structured short-term interventions within agreed treatment pathways.
  • Encourage engagement with treatment, peer support, and recovery activities.
  • Support access to appropriate external services and community resources.

Risk and Safeguarding:

  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and risks.
  • Undertake risk assessments and escalate concerns in line with organisational policies.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and safe working practices at all times.

Partnership Working:

  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, referrers, and community organisations.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and reviews.

Clinical Governance & Development:

  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely records.
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing training.
  • Contribute to service improvement, audit, and evaluation activities.
  • Work in line with organisational policies, procedures, and professional standards.

About You

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT, or a relevant qualification in Mental Health, Counselling, Psychology, Social Care, Wellbeing Practice, or equivalent experience.
  • Ongoing professional development relevant to the role.
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health, addiction, or complex emotional wellbeing needs.
  • Experience delivering structured wellbeing or psychologically informed interventions.
  • Experience working within health, social care, charity, or community settings.
  • Experience in managing and prioritising a caseload effectively.
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of gambling-related harm and addiction recovery principles.
  • Knowledge of low-intensity CBT interventions or equivalent approaches.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and professional boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build compassionate, trusting relationships with service users.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in emotionally challenging situations.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative appropriately.

Desirable:

  • Experience within addiction, criminal justice, or residential treatment settings.
  • Knowledge of motivational interviewing, CBT-informed approaches, or trauma-informed practice.
  • Understanding of co-occurring mental health difficulties and social exclusion.
  • Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic groups.

Please note that we may close this vacancy at any time should we receive a high volume of suitable applications. Interviews may be conducted throughout the advertising period.
