Friends of Palestinian Universities (FPU) is looking for a motivated, organised and thoughtful Programme Officer to join our small and growing team.

FPU works in partnership with Palestinian universities, academics and students to strengthen the resilience and recovery of Palestinian higher education, build meaningful international academic partnerships, and transform understanding and practice within UK and international higher education.

This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of our work. You will help us develop partnerships between Palestinian and international universities, produce research and resources, support advocacy and public engagement, organise events and convenings, and provide the programme and administrative coordination that enables a small charity to deliver effectively.

You will work closely with the Director, wider FPU team and Palestinian university partners, as well as academics, universities, sector bodies, unions and civil society organisations in the UK and internationally.

What you’ll be doing

Your work will span several areas of FPU’s programmes.

Advocacy and public engagement

You will help deliver FPU’s advocacy and awareness-raising work, including:

• researching and contributing to briefings, reports, toolkits and other public-facing resources;

• building relationships with academics, university departments, higher education networks, unions and student groups;

• supporting campaigns and initiatives responding to the destruction of Palestinian higher education and scholasticide in Palestine;

• helping organise public events, webinars and other opportunities for engagement.

Building international academic partnerships

A major part of the role will be helping strengthen links between Palestinian universities and institutions internationally.

You will:

• research potential university partners and opportunities for collaboration;

• support the development of partnerships, fellowships, research collaborations and exchanges;

• help produce an expanded edition of FPU’s handbook on partnerships with Palestinian higher education;

• engage with Palestinian universities to understand their priorities and identify opportunities for international partnership;

• maintain relationships, contacts and partnership information;

• help organise FPU’s Annual Conference and other sector convenings.

Supporting Palestinian partners

A core principle of FPU’s work is that Palestinian universities, academics and students should shape the international responses that affect them.

You will help create opportunities for Palestinian partners to participate in international meetings, events and initiatives, prepare research and briefing materials, and support convenings in which Palestinian scholars and institutions can share knowledge and shape agendas.

Programme coordination and administration

As part of a small organisation, strong administration is essential to effective programme delivery.

You will help:

• coordinate meetings, events and programme activity;

• organise agendas, papers, invitations, notes and follow-up;

• maintain accurate databases, records and shared files;

• coordinate travel and logistics for Palestinian partners where required;

• support programme-related expenses, procurement and other administrative processes;

• track programme activities, deadlines, outputs and outcomes;

• contribute to quarterly planning, monitoring and reporting.

The role will combine substantive programme work with practical administration, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable doing both.

• Arabic language proficiency.

Job Description: Programme Officer

Key responsibilities

1. Advocacy and awareness-raising

• Work with the Director to deliver FPU’s advocacy and awareness programme in line with our strategic priorities.

• Research and contribute to producing accessible, high-quality resources for academic, policy and civil society audiences, including briefings, reports, toolkits and event materials.

• Build and maintain relationships with higher education networks, faculty and staff unions, academic departments, student societies and other relevant organisations.

• Support campaigns responding to the destruction of Palestinian higher education and the scholasticide in Palestine, including outreach, messaging and coordination with partners.

• Help deliver FPU events, including planning, speaker liaison, logistics and follow-up.

2. Building Palestinian–international academic partnerships

• Work with the Director to strengthen academic links between Palestinian universities and institutions in the UK and internationally.

• Research and help prepare an expanded second edition of FPU’s handbook on partnerships with Palestinian higher education.

• Support the design and delivery of institutional partnerships and collaborative projects, including research collaborations, fellowships and exchange initiatives.

• Research and map potential partners and opportunities and help develop targeted engagement plans with Palestinian and international universities.

• Maintain an accessible, accurate and up-to-date database of contacts, institutions and partnership opportunities.

• Help organise FPU’s Annual Conference, including programme planning, partner engagement, invitations and registration, logistics and post-event follow-up.

3. Palestinian university liaison

• Contribute to FPU’s engagement and partnership-building with Palestinian higher education institutions.

• Develop a strong understanding of institutional priorities, needs and potential areas for international partnership.

• Map and collate partnership opportunities and priorities, helping ensure that FPU’s wider work reflects the needs of the Palestinian higher education sector.

• Maintain regular communication with institutional partners and support effective follow-up on agreed opportunities and areas of collaboration.

4. Representation and convening

• Help convene and facilitate spaces in which Palestinian scholars, students and university partners can exchange knowledge, develop relationships and shape international agendas.

• Support approaches grounded in Palestinian priorities and collective leadership.

• Prepare research, briefings and background materials for the Director and Palestinian partners participating in meetings, conferences and public engagements.

• Support Palestinian partner representatives to participate effectively in international meetings and events.

5. Monitoring, evaluation and learning

• Work towards objectives and KPIs agreed through FPU’s annual work plan and contribute to quarterly planning and review.

• Track programme activities, outputs and outcomes.

• Gather feedback from partners and stakeholders and help translate this into programme learning and continuous improvement.

• Prepare quarterly programme updates and reporting for the Director and Board of Trustees.

• Help maintain accurate information on programme progress, partnerships and outcomes for reporting to funders and other stakeholders.

6. Programme and administrative support

• Provide administrative and coordination support to the Director, Deputy Director and wider team to support the effective delivery of FPU’s programmes and organisational priorities.

• Support the organisation of meetings, events and convenings, including scheduling, invitations, agendas, papers, note-taking and follow-up.

• Maintain accurate programme records, contact lists, databases and shared files, ensuring information is well organised and accessible.

• Assist with travel, accommodation and other logistical arrangements for Palestinian partners and representatives participating in FPU activities where required.

• Support programme-related operations, procurement, invoices, expenses and other administrative processes in coordination with the Deputy Director.

• Provide other reasonable administrative and operational support required for the effective functioning of a small charity.

7. Working as part of FPU

• Contribute actively to FPU’s collective planning and delivery.

• Work collaboratively and flexibly with colleagues across the organisation.

Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to serve as Coordinator, leading the mission of Street Pastors in Kingston. The ideal candidate for this role will be a person of integrity who is able to demonstrate experience and potential in leadership of Christian outreach and mission. They should have experience leading and managing volunteers in a relevant context. They should possess effective organisational and communication skills and demonstrate a passion for building and sustaining partnerships around community outreach.

Context

Kingston Street Pastors is a churches initiative which has been operating since 2006 deploying Christian volunteers in the town centre in the night time to Care, Listen and Help. We enjoy excellent relationships with key stakeholders in Kingston’s night time economy including our local council, police and businesses. Within the wider Street Pastors movement we have made significant contributions over the years to develop policy and practice and have worked closely with neighbouring Street Pastors initiatives and with the Ascension Trust. For governance purposes Kingston Street Pastors operates as an affiliated project of Oxygen, a Kingston based youth work charity.

Our key strategic priorities are to maintain and build on the positive relationships we have with our local council, the police and businesses in the night time economy, taking advantage of opportunities for collaboration, accessing funding and other forms of support. We are perennially focused on the recruitment of new volunteers to serve as Street Pastors and Prayer Pastors to sustain and grow our capacity to deploy teams to the streets.

About the Role

This role has a Genuine Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practicing Christian (as outlined by 2010 Equality Act, Section 9)

Our new Coordinator will work closely with the Street Pastors Deputy Coordinator, leading the regular operations of Kingston Street Pastors and the deployment of teams while also overseeing the strategic development of the initiative in response to emerging needs and opportunities. 

Applicants should have people skills and demonstrate an ability to solve problems using a range of creative solutions including working with volunteers or using technology in new ways. The ideal candidate will have an ability to work flexibly and manage their time and resource effectively amidst competing priorities. 

A strong applicant will also be able to demonstrate the following: 

• A good understanding of the work and ethos of Street Pastors and how this resonates with your approach to Christian mission.

• A passion for the role the Church plays in our local community and an ecumenical ethos which is appreciative of a diversity of Christian traditions.

• The ability to partner with key stakeholders in the community to increase the resources, reach and depth of charitable projects. 

• A high level of proficiency in project management with competent administrative and IT skills.

• A good understanding of the night time economy, its users and key stakeholders.

• An understanding of monitoring and reporting on the impact of charitable work.

Relevant experience in fields such as youth work, homelessness support, drug and alcohol services and promotion of community safety are also highly desirable.

The Lord’s Taverners exists to positively impact the lives of young people facing the challenges of inequality. Through inclusive and transformative cricket programmes, we empower young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities across the UK and beyond.

We are now seeking an organised and proactive Visually Impaired Cricket Development Officer to join our People & Programmes directorate. You will deliver and coordinate Super 1s VI community hubs in targeted areas, ensuring sessions are inclusive and accessible for young people aged 8–25 with a visual impairment, and support the delivery of a year-round programme that promotes positive social outcomes, helping young people build confidence, skills and connections through cricket.

The Role

The Visually Impaired Cricket Development Officer will give more young people with a visual impairment the chance to play cricket regularly by growing and delivering the Super 1s programme in targeted areas, attracting new participants, and supporting coaches to build their skills and confidence.

• Oversee stewardship activity for all in memoriam supporters, including funeral giving, More than Memories Tribute Fund holders and dedication page supporters, ensuring communications are timely, personalised and compassionate.
• Build meaningful relationships with supporters, helping to create a lasting connection to our cause and communicating the impact of their support.
• Use data, insight and supporter feedback to identify opportunities to improve supporter acquisition, engagement, retention and income.
• Monitor and report on agreed financial and other KPIs, maximising opportunities and mitigating risks.
• Represent the In Memoriam and Celebration team internally, building strong relationships and raising awareness of our in memory products and opportunities.
• Support the In Memoriam Manager to develop, test and evaluate new supporter acquisition activity through warm and paid marketing campaigns.

As we deliver our new organisational strategy and strengthen our External Affairs function, you will play a key role in growing and diversifying income to support our future ambitions.

Trusts and foundations will be at the heart of your role, building on our strong portfolio of funders while developing opportunities across corporate partnerships, supporter stewardship, challenge events and other emerging income streams. Key responsibilities:

1. Strategy Delivery and Management

Working closely with the Deputy CEO, you will lead the delivery of CFAB's fundraising strategy, translating strategic priorities into operational plans that support sustainable income growth.

You will contribute to fundraising strategy, budgeting and income forecasting, monitor performance against agreed targets and ensure fundraising activity is effectively managed through Salesforce. You will identify opportunities to improve fundraising processes, strengthen fundraising performance and support the development and implementation of new income streams and fundraising initiatives.

2. Trusts, Foundations and Corporate Partnerships

You will lead CFAB's trust and foundation fundraising programme, developing and managing a portfolio of funders, partners and supporters to maximise long-term income. You will prepare and oversee high-quality funding applications, reports and pitches, ensuring all funder requirements and deadlines are met.

You will also develop and manage corporate fundraising opportunities, identifying prospective partners, preparing partnership proposals and supporting the growth of corporate income as a strategic priority. Working alongside the Deputy CEO, you will help shape the organisation’s corporate offer and operate a shared account management model for strategic funders and high-value funding opportunities.

3. Relationship Management and Income Growth

Working with the Deputy CEO, you will lead the development and delivery of CFAB's stewardship strategy, strengthening relationships with existing supporters and creating meaningful supporter journeys for new donors. You will oversee donor communications, the supporter newsletter, and recognition processes, ensuring supporters understand the impact of their giving and remain engaged with CFAB.

You will also grow CFAB's challenge events programme, increasing participation, enhancing the supporter experience and developing challenge events as a sustainable source of unrestricted income.

Working collaboratively with the Deputy CEO, Digital Engagement and Outreach Lead, and Policy and Communications Officer, you will develop and deliver digital fundraising campaigns, including Big Give match funding campaigns, and a programme of fundraising events to grow and engage CFAB's supporter base.

4. Team Leadership and Fundraising Operations

You will line manage the Fundraising Coordinator, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching and support to ensure the effective delivery of fundraising operations.

You will oversee prospect research, fundraising administration, supporter stewardship, challenge events, Salesforce management and fundraising reporting, ensuring high standards of performance, accurate data management and effective collaboration across the fundraising function.

5. Governance and Representation

You will help prepare fundraising reports, pipeline updates, income forecasts and performance information for the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees.

You will ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, the Code of Fundraising Practice, GDPR, Gift Aid requirements and organisational policies, maintaining the highest standards of fundraising governance and supporter care.

You will represent CFAB externally with funders, corporate partners, supporters and sector networks, acting as an ambassador for the organisation and helping to strengthen its profile, reputation and long-term strategic relationships.

6. Additional Responsibilities

As a member of the wider management team, you will contribute to organisational planning, continuous improvement and cross-organisational projects. You will identify opportunities to strengthen fundraising systems, develop new ways of working and support the long-term sustainability of the organisation. Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to motivate volunteers and manage competing priorities, and a good understanding of safeguarding, equality and inclusion.

Choice in Hackney is a disabled person’s organisation supporting disabled people with independent living services including advocacy, volunteering and training services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised administrator to provide administration support to Choice’s staff and services.

We are looking for someone:

1. To provide efficient administrative support across all CHOICE IN HACKNEY projects and services.

2. To ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the office, reception and administrative systems.

3. To maintain accurate records, databases and filing systems in accordance with organisational policies and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

4. To provide administrative support to staff, volunteers, and partner organisations.

5. To support monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements for funded projects.
