• Conduct needs and risk assessments with potential Nightstop guests

My Journey from Volunteer to Manager
When I moved to the UK in 2013, I joined the charity through a one-year European Voluntary Service placement, supporting vulnerable and homeless young people in a drop-in café. It didn't take long for me to connect with the organisation's mission and values, and I quickly realised that I wanted to build my career in an organisation dedicated to making a real difference.
They recognised not only my commitment but also my background in social work and passion for supporting others. At the end of my volunteering placement, I secured a role as a Nightstop Project Worker, where I spent four years delivering emergency accommodation services across 12 local authority areas and training volunteers who played a vital role in supporting young people in crisis.
One of the charity’s greatest strengths is its commitment to developing its people. Throughout my career, I was encouraged to expand my skills through leadership and management training, while being given the trust and autonomy to take on new challenges. This investment in my growth led to promotions first to Prevention Services Manager for the North East and Cumbria, and later to National Prevention Services Manager.
Today, I lead a dedicated team delivering family mediation, emergency accommodation, and housing advice services that help prevent youth homelessness across the country. My progression from volunteer to national service manager reflects the opportunities, support, and belief that the organisation invests in its people.

About the Organisation
In the 1980s, high unemployment and steep inflation was contributing to a shocking rise in youth homelessness across London. Thousands of young people were sleeping rough every night, with many areas notoriously dubbed “cardboard cities” due to the visible rise in street homelessness. Whilst the role retains responsibility for Operations, you'll be supported by an experienced Head of Operations who leads day-to-day operational delivery. Key Responsibilities
· Provide strategic financial leadership to the Executive Director, Global Board and Finance & Fundraising Committee.
· Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, multi-year financial planning and scenario modelling.
· Support fundraising by providing robust financial analysis and reviewing funding proposals.
· Ensure excellent stewardship of restricted donor funding and organisational reserves.
· Lead and develop the finance function, encompassing a highly capable Management Accountant and Grants & Compliance Accountant.
· Oversee the organisation's banking and cash management.
· Lead the annual audit, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors.
· Support the Head of Operations in overseeing organisational operations and governance.
· Produce clear, insightful financial reporting that enables effective decision-making.
· Maintain robust financial controls, compliance and organisational accountability across an international operating environment.
The successful candidate will have:
· A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or UK-recognised equivalent).
· Experience operating as the number one in finance, supporting executive and non-executive directors
· Significant experience working in an international donor-funded organisation, with a strong understanding of restricted donor funding and grant management.
· Experience working across diverse countries, cultures and governance structures.
· Proven ability to build effective relationships with Boards, Executive teams and non-finance stakeholders.
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical insight.
· A collaborative leadership style, sound judgement and the confidence to provide constructive challenge.
· Experience overseeing operational functions such as HR, governance or IT would be advantageous but is not essential.

Main purpose of job:To work in the Navigator team supporting individuals who have or are experiencing sexual violence and or sexual abuse. As a first contact worker, you will act as a gateway to both specialist counselling and advocacy services and additional specialist support services in Essex. The First Contact Navigator posts will play a central role in the CARA team, ensuring that our service users and other agencies receive a high-quality service from the moment of first contact. You will work as part of a wider team of First Contact Navigators across Essex, based at our Synergy Essex Partner centres.
